My life is colorful, crazy and beautiful. I'm married, I have three daughters and seven pets. I'm extremely good at multi-tasking and have undying energy, so I'm told. I don't sleep much or even stay still for long. I have an out of control imagination, which led me into writing. I love food and music. I travel at any and every opportunity I have. One of my goals in life is to see more of the world. When I'm not reading or writing, I'm probably riding my bike, cooking, or hanging out with my family and pets.

Like so many young people dissatisfied with their life, Alex left family and friends, fresh out of high school, in search of her dreams to be a songwriter. Three years later she’s on her way back home, her dreams crushed. What will she do now? Author Kathey Gray has written a novel that many people, both young and old, can relate to: the desire for something better than what they have, or so they believe.

Alex’s life soon gets even more complicated. Yes, it has to do with a handsome guy. The author has created characters that could be real people, some you might even be familiar with. You’ve heard that old saying: “Be careful what you wish for, you may get it.” It came to my mind as I read through the ups and downs of Alex’s relationships with family and friends. I sympathized with her in her search for happiness. Hearts are so easily broken, yet the spirit survives.

I think you’ll enjoy following Alex as she faces each crisis in her life. Will she find happiness in her love life as well as success in her world of music? Or does her future have some surprises waiting?

I found my writing soul sister! I absolutely loved this book. Hooked from chapter one. The characters felt very real and relatable. Both Alex and Ian are trying to navigate this new normal that wasn't originally in their plans. The connection they have brings all the heat. I was instantly rooting for them despite him being with Alex's bestie, and I didn't feel bad about it either. I'm a sucker for angst, the longing looks, pages of foreplay, and those little moments in between that just make you sigh all dreamy-like. We got it all in this one. The story moves quickly which is a good thing because there is a cliffhanger. But thankfully, book two is out and it's already in my library! I can't wait to read more from this author.

The book is a fast read and easy to get through. My initial thoughts in the first few chapters were that the author clearly has seen Coyote Ugly, very similar story line. As the book progressed the story did advance to include an unknown love triangle, and young adult drama. Overall the book was decent and a quick read.
