Not bad overall

A decent read but I have have some hopefully constructive criticism for the author of the book.

The setting was vague and hard to pin down. Even having read the entire book I only have a vague idea about the world the story is taking place in.
There's apparently a city? Tower? Space station? Arcology? Which has tiers? Or levels? With the richest in the top or second to top tier. Outside of the city? Is either a wasteland of an unexplained kind, giant garbage dump, or some magically contaminated ruins of some kind.

If this seems unclear and vague to you that's because he entire book has an unclear, vague almost half formed setting.

For the author. Think about what is common knowledge for the characters in the book, relevant to the story. So the city? They live in the basics of the game and whatever he hell "echelon gifts" are, some basic "how we got here" history and whether this is SciFi, fantasy, or alternative history. Before the first half of the reader should know most of what the characters do.

Secondly you chose 3rd perspective narrations for the story. This makes sense since you are writing a few characters and hoping around characters in 1st perspective is confusing. However 3rd perspective doesn't mean you have to entirely neglect what the characters are thinking. the girl in this seems like a totally lunatic because we can't see her reasoning. Without anyone to bounce reactions off she comes off as an emotionless robot killing things recklessly without a goal. Without a look at the inside of her head it becomes hard to emphasize with the protagonist detracting form the book.

Hard to follow

I liked the story and overall plot in this book. The game was interesting with alot of skills and magic. However, the writing fell flat and the multinarration was really annoying. One character a couple of pages and then another for a few pages. Nowhere near enough information to relate to them since there were like six.

Will probably get the sequel in case it's better but wouldn't recommend this book to any of my friends.

This was a very good read. Based on this first book there likely to be 8 books in the series. I like the story well enough to continue with it, though it seems to me levels are way to easy to come by in this one. Still, even with that, it was certainly a good enough story to hold my attention, and there were few spelling and grammar errors, which all by itself raises it up a few notches in my estimation.
