Professor Richard Weissman, a brilliant Nobel laureate in quantum physics, is certain he has gone crazy when he wakes up 200 years in the future. As he continues to be brought backwards and forwards in time, he is shown an incredible world where a mysterious entity called Alma cares for the human race and ensures peace and prosperity across national borders. Alma tells him that he must take knowledge from the future back to his present day, ensuring that humanity will progress and that the very future he has now seen will come to pass. As he continues to question his sanity and the wisdom of meddling with space-time, he learns things he could never have dreamed of: the nature of reality, the key to unlimited energy, the secret to time travel... But even time travel is not limitless; when Richard faces some unexpected decisions, his time begins to run out, and he only has one comfort: Alma knows everything.
A robotics engineer by training, an analytics executive by profession, and a writer by accident, Eric Monteiro is ultimately a full-time student of the human mind. Born and raised in Brazil, he immigrated to Canada in 2003. While most of his career has been in business working with McKinsey & Company and other corporations, Eric has always had a passion for quantum physics and science fiction – Alma blends these two passions in one project.
A bold world full of wonder and big questions. Alma’s story is the product of a brilliant and optimistic mind in a world that is crashing down around us, and it stands out because it addresses our hopes as much as it does our fears. Compelling, eery, and moving, this story will stay with me for a long time.
