Women Writing Brazil is the second issue of Glossolalia, PEN America's translation journal. The all-female lineup was inspired by, and a response to, machismo comments made by male Brazilian writers at the 2015 Festa Literária Internacional de Paraty (FLIP Festival) that “there are no great female writers in Brazil.” We think otherwise.
Glossolalia advocates for writers with limited access to the global reading community. By publishing works from lesser-translated languages, we connect storytellers to audiences eager for a vivid, mind-expanding look at experiences unlike their own.
