CAROL ROUND, self-syndicated columnist, Christian author, blogger, and inspirational speaker, began her journey with the Lord in October 2001 when she admitted her need for His guidance. Since then, she has sought a deeper relationship with Him through reading scripture, Bible study, and the personal discipline of keeping a daily prayer journal.

After being encouraged by other Christian women, she penned a book to encourage others to try prayer journaling. Released in 2012, "Journaling with Jesus: How to Draw Closer to God" and the companion workbook, "The 40-Day Challenge," can be purchased through the author or Amazon.com. (https://amzn.to/2pP5Yr6)

Carol has also authored three collections of her weekly faith-based column. "A Matter of Faith," and "Faith Matters," was released by Buoy Up Press. A third collection, "Sola Fide: by FAITH alone," debuted in 2012.

She has also authored a three-book children's book series to teach children the importance of giving, saving, and spending their money. The book series title is "Nana's 3 Jars," and is available through Amazon.

Her most recent book was released in October 2017. The book, for women only, is titled "Growing Confidently in Your Faith." It is also available on Amazon.

She has been writing her weekly faith-based column since 2005. Originally, her weekly column ran in 14 Oklahoma newspapers, several national publications, and at http://www.assistnews.net/.

In 2013, she decided to post her columns on her blog at https://carolaround.com due to deadline constraints with newspapers. Her blog posts are still picked up by national and international publications, both online and in print.

“The most amazing part of this journey for me,” she says, “happened when ASSIST News, a California publication, started carrying my weekly column in 2013. Because of this worldwide exposure, different foreign newspapers and magazines have picked up my column. I'm truly humbled by the feedback I receive from my readers, including those from around the world—India, Uganda, Belfast, Australia, Great Britain, France, Kenya, New Zealand, Ireland, and many more. It is truly God at work in my life!”

Carol’s writing has led to a speaking ministry. “When I speak to women, I love telling them, ‘God has a sense of humor.’ While I could stand in front of a classroom full of teenagers when I taught school, getting up in front of my peers terrified me. In fact, the only ‘C’ I made in college was in speech.

“I've learned God doesn't call the equipped but equips the called. I say all of this in humility because this was not my plan for life after a public education career. But I love using my gifts for His glory.”

After 30 years in public education, Carol retired in 2005, knowing God had other plans for her life. Did you know you won’t find the word, “retirement,” in the Bible? “I call it redirection and love to remind others who are close to retirement or retired to seek God’s redirection for their lives.”

The mother of two grown sons, Carol is also “Nana” to four adorable and talented grandchildren and the obedient owner of a spoiled rotten dog named Harley, a Chihuahua/Daschund mix, better known as a Chiweenie.

When Carol isn’t writing or speaking, she loves spending time with her grandchildren, shooting photos, volunteering at her church, getting her hands dirty in her flowerbeds and hiking.

Truly Inspiring

I just can’t seem to stay away. Every year I do the same thing. I look at the devotionals online, in the bookstore, and recommendations from friends. While I like looking at the new ones, I have my favorites which I use year after year. They’re just that good. And I know that I’ll definitely be adding Grow Confidently in Your Faith to my favorites, because, as I’ve said before, it’s just that good.

This book offers truly inspiring passages, thoughts, and reflections for every week of the year. It’s broken down by months and weeks. Each week has Bible passages, thoughts on the topic of the week, and encourages the reader to follow through with the 3 R’s: Renew, Recommit, and Rejoice. It is a timeless devotional in that it can be used over and over again. This book is truly inspiring, and I have no doubt that it will encourage you as you continue to grow confidently in your faith.

**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author. All viewpoint and opinions are my own.

In this 52 week devotion book, Carol Round offers a "just right" heart connection (like Goldilocks finds in cthe house of The Three Bears). With twelve monthly themes, each week offers a concise and personal easy-to-read application that herds your thoughts to the Word of God as gently as a good shepherd.

I love how she starts readers off in the intro with Hebrews 6:1: " So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding." (NLT)

Some of my favorites:
Is your tongue "holey?" tells of a preacher's wife who'd bite her tongue to keep herself from saying things she should not. Transforming from an attitude of having all the answers takes self- control. Carol encourages us to recall times we've embarrassed ourselves or said things we wish we could stuff back in our mouths. How could we have better handled the situation?

Are you a worrywart? She reminds us over 100 diseases have been directly attributed to worry and guides readers in ways to prune what's bothering us.

Week 17 offers six Bible verses that affirm your reason for being.

Week 23 offers ten ways to show His grace to others.

Week 28 talks to those of us who need to be in control, offering an easy exercise with a piece of paper to help us surrender a little to the One who really is in control.

If you're facing a mountain of challenges or pain or doubt, trust this book to grow your confidence in the One who loves you. You just might find a little rock exercise that might change your perspective on the mountain before you or within you.

This interactive devotional works more like a study guide. The author takes you through a year-long commitment designed to show the reader that be a Christian is more than a name, more than church going, even more than a lifestyle. Growing in Christian faith is never finished. It is an ongoing process filled with reflection and wonder and joy and grief with every breath.

The book is divided by month with catchy titles such as Renew, Recommit, Rejoice in January; Feed, Focus, Flourish in July, or Eliminate, Enlist, Enrich in August. For each week in the month, Round focuses on a passage of Scripture and offers a reflection. She challenges the reader to seek out a unique way to stretch and grow our faith, with Follow Through statements and questions according to the monthly theme. Round offers personal reflection, examples, and demonstrations to encourage readers to continue to live more Christ-like.

Keep a notebook handy and commit to spending a few moments every day with this book. After a year, growing in faith will surely become a habit. Good gift!

Growing Confidently in Your Faith is a 52 week devotional to help women become more like Christ by recognizing that it is a lifelong journey by reflecting on their own lives and purposefully allowing God into their lives. Carol Round created an incredible 52 week devotional that will guide her readers to continue their spiritual growth. This is meant to be a book that is read over the course of the year with different themes for every month and a different section to read each week. The author starts each weekly section with a bible verse and relates it to every day life through her own experiences and those of others. She provides inspirational messages and encourages her readers to continue their own spiritual growth by reflecting on their own lives and journaling. I would strongly recommend this inspirational book to anyone wishing to have a deeper relationship with God. Well written and very relatable to the readers!

I received a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are mine.

With an easy conversational style, Carol Round presents her newest book, “Growing Confidently in Your Faith.”

The book is organized by months with powerful devotions that drive journaling and allow the reader to express thoughts and reflections. Appropriate quotes add to the credibility of each post while alliteration of sub-topics keeps the reader clicking through.

Even some practical tips such as the importance of recycling and decluttering add to the realistic nature of Round’s writing skills. Her weekly blog posts at http://carolaround.com/ underscore her platform for readers who want to continue to find hope in this journey of faith.

For a great read that continues through the months, check out “Growing Confidently in Your Faith” by Carol Round.

Growing Confidently in Your Faith is a Christian week-by-week devotional. After struggling through the first two chapters (months) I set it aside. It lay forgotten for over a month until, after some gentle guidance, I was encouraged to pick it up again. Wouldn't you know it, the very next chapter was for March and felt very much like God pinpointing some of my current struggles. The chapter was helpful and I continued on.

To be fair, a devotional isn't designed to be read page after page as other books are, so it started becoming quite bland to read. However, I believe wholeheartedly that Carol Round's work is Holy Spirit inspired and makes for a great simple to understand "starter" devotional. I say starter because the majority of the book is comprised of material that has already been done in numerous books and Bible Studies before, old hat if you will.

I would recommend this book to a casual reader but not an avid one. I give it 4 stars because it is well written and organized. I also intend to re-read it as it is designed to be read and fully expect some of the spiritual growth such devotionals inspire.
