Under the blazing Florida sun, anything can happen. And usually does.
When the sun is high, the drinks are cold and the drugs are flowing freely, there's no more dangerous place in the world than south Florida. Unless, that is, you're Wade Carver.
A PI with a mysterious background and a man who literally takes no prisoners, Carver is hired to find, and rescue, a missing girl. Like just about everything in Florida, the truth only starts to emerge after heavy doses of sand, sun, blood, booze and...bullets.

The eponymous Molly turns out to be the daughter of one our sleuth's more unpleasant acquaintances, in this sizzling hot, action-packed delight for aficionados of Master Wordsmith Dan Ames and his latest hero, Wade Carver. The action moves swiftly through a tightly-paced extravaganza of scenarios along the Florida coastline as our about-to-be-favourite PI seeks out his 'distraught' client's offspring in a mishmash of insalubrious locations and persons preferably left well alone under normal circumstances!
Who is Jenny and why did she go missing prior to the start of the novel? Who is Carver's first client? What is the nature of their case? What secret agenda are they hiding from Carver? Where does Carver see Molly first - and who is she with? Who reluctantly gave Carver the information? Who is Margaret Hornor and who is she in cahoots with? Who is Molly's real father - and who reveals he isn't? What does Carver learn from the Chief about Jenny at the end of the book?
This was my first read by author Dan Ames and it certainly won’t be my last. I love the setting he uses in his Wade Carver series which is south Florida. Maybe it has something to do with the fact I live in Florida.
The first book in the series is “Molly” which does a great job of setting up the main character, Wade Carver. Carver is a something like a private investigator but certainly not like ones we are use to. Carver does his own thing and has many resources to do so. In Molly, he is hired to find a missing girl and he does so while always looking for his missing sister as well. Carver has a different way of doing his search and is a no hold back kinda guy.
Loved the book and it’s a fast page turner. Not a long book so you can sit down and enjoy Carver’s way of dealing with things. I’m ready to read the entire series.
Dan Ames has created a fantastic new character/series with Wade Carver. A private detective and a genuine badass who means well, he helps his clients with a no holds barred, no fear attitude. You are introduced to the background and current life of Carver as the story unfolds. "Molly" is a missing girl he's out to find and in the course of the hunt he gets a line on his missing sister. The pages fly by as you are introduced to Carver. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride and look forward to continuing it.
MOLLY by Dan Ames. Wade Carver Thriller ( Florida Mystery. 1 I love his books, and this new series, is a another winner, Giving us descriptions of places, people and even food, makes one feel like we are there. The ride is filled with unsavory characters, the fights are many.. will he find Molly and was it truly the Mother wanting her home. You will laugh, and enjoy this new series, awaiting next book. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
Replete with irony and sarcasm, this series opener starts out laying groundwork then picks up speed. Wade Carver, PI, has moved to eastern Florida to search for his older sister in his spare time as a P.I. In Molly, he searches for a runaway, a case that takes him into the underbelly of the drug trade on the sunfilled beaches with their vacationers, surfers and retirees. Oh, and runaways. This is a good opener and it's left me looking for more.
This is the start of a new series with PI Wade Carver as the main character. The story contains many of the items I've enjoyed in the author's other books that I've read - a great mix of characters, suspense, twists along the way, humor, and a vivid description of the places in the story.
For a short book this one pack some hard punches in its twisted plot. Violence, ruthlessness and smarts combined with a savvy PI and a narcissistic client make this book bubble and boil till the surprising ending.
This is a very fast paced private detective story, with a very ruthless detective as its central character. Very easy to read and the action is on going and makes it a very hard book to put down. It reminds me of the TV series, Magnum PI, but set in today's criminal world.
A quick read of a well written story about a girl called Molly. Ames keeps it moving without a lot of flowery BS that so many writers think is necessary. I like his writing style and am on to his next. 5
This book had lots of moving parts and questionable characters. Wade Carver is hired to find a missing daughter who has drug issues. His reputation of being ruthless is made clear multiple times. I am interested in reading more of this series.
Wade Carver, a P.I. based in Delray Beach, Florida is hired by Margaret Hornor to find her missing daughter Molly. But cases are never straightforward. An enjoyable and well-written thriller, a good solid start to the series.
I was introduced to Wade Carver PI during the last Jack Reacher Cases, by Dan Ames. He is a wise cracking South Fla. PI. I didn't stop laughing. If you like to see good vs. evil this is for you. Not for the squeamish.
I'll never read another book written by Dan Ames. Didn't deserve the one star. Stupid ridiculous character. No real plot. Just an ignorant guy killing everybody in sight.
YAY! Let's hear it for brevity. There's not a wasted comma in "Molly", which is gratifying in this age of verbosity run-amok, even in this genre. Needless to say, the sequel is already purchased.
More fun than a man my age should be allowed to have over the Memorial Day weekend!!! On to Wade Carver's 2&3 before trying out some of the authors other work. Pumped!
