From the first paragraph I felt like I knew I've read this somewhere before. Going through my fanfic collection of Devil Wears Prada, turned out I was right. The first chapter was so similar like the fanfiction. But the writing is so much neater and nicer than the fiction one. Basically Victoria is Miranda, and Holly is Andy. And well it's May-December romance.

The storyline itself somehow felt different, not that I remember so much about the fanfic version. The story matured, and the ending is just perfect. I won't give up much about the story, the synopsis sums it all for us. It's so well-written and good romance. Funny thing, in DWP the magazine is Runway, in Bring Holly Home it is Arrival Magazine.

Thanks god, this book got so perfectly tailored so we don't suffered a writing without some editor team backing it. I love this book immediately, it flows perfectly. I've always love Radley's writing, this one just reminded how good it can be.

ARC received from writer for honest review.

P.S. Pardon me if I don't do this review thing greatly, it's my first time writing for ARC review.

Thawing the Ice Queen is a well used trope in lesbian fiction and it never gets old. Radley adds her own twist by thawing and refreezing Victoria Hastings before events in this book take place. Victoria is a demanding and intimidating boss who frightens off more temps than she keeps. Before she disappeared, Holly had been a valuable second assistant who had gained Victoria’s trust and grudging respect. Her disappearance during fashion week in Paris left the fashion editor angry and embarrassed.

Giving Holly amnesia was an inspired plot device. It leaves the reader with a limited view of events and little understanding of Holly. Did she leave following an argument? Was she mugged and left for dead? Was she simply crossing the street, running an errand for her frosty boss and didn't notice the traffic? I loved how the author slowly reveals bits and pieces of the working relationship between Holly and Victoria, most recalled by Victoria herself, some by secondary characters. It was easy to question how truthful Victoria was when explaining her actions to others and to herself. I couldn't help but feel there was more than a business connection developing between the two before Holly’s disappearance.

Holly is an easy woman to admire. She may not remember her past but she is open and willing to embrace the chance to rediscover herself. I loved her positive attitude and strength of character. Once Stateside it was only a matter of time and a bit of soul searching before Holly once again began to breakdown the barriers thrown up by Victoria. While seeking her past she discovered her future. Sweet.

I devoured this book in one day, it's such a pleasure to read.

4.5 stars

I first read this story when it was a Devil Wears Prada fanfic (Jean DuPont).

This story takes place a year after Andy Sachs or rather Holly Carter leaves Victoria Hastings (Miranda) during Paris Fashion Week. Even though Holly quit at the worst possible time, Victoria was ready to give Holly a good job reference but was surprised and disappointed that she never heard from Holly. Not that she would ever acknowledge that to anyone. She barely acknowledged it to herself. Just as Victoria was leaving for the airport to return to the states, a frantic man shows her a photograph - of a pale, sickly looking woman with short dark hair - Holly. Holly who has been in a French hospital for a year with amnesia and recovering from brain damage. He recognized Holly from TV footage from the previous year. He was hoping Victoria would know the American with no memory.

Victoria pulls strings as only Victoria can do - getting Holly back to the states. Holly has no living relatives or friends so Victoria moves Holly into her house.

What I liked about this book - although it was a DWP, it felt different. Victoria is Miranda but more vulnerable (not that she would ever show it). Gideon (aka Nigel) tells Holly - “Assumptions?” Holly asked. “Yes. Think of your most negative view of a situation, that’s Victoria’s default position.” And that is this story.

Holly too isn’t the usual Andy portrayal. And for the life of me I can’t put my finger on why. As I read this story, I ceased to see them as Miranda and Andy, but as Victoria and Holly.

I also like that instead of Miranda’s pre-teen twins, Victoria’s children were the exuberant 8 yr old Alexia and 15 yr old Hugo - a prefect age straddling being a boy and an awkward teen just starting to date. They were great characters.

Ah sheesh. This is a long winded review. I recommend this easy reading story. I really enjoyed it.

EDIT - I forgot to add - LOVE THE COVER!

A.E. Radley knows how to deliver a great story. Her newest book, Bring Holly Home is one of her best yet! A great ice queen romance gets me every single time.

Victoria Hastings is one of the world’s most influential people in the world of high fashion. As the editor-in-chief of an international fashion magazine, Arrival, Victoria is busy, demanding and an absolute ice-queen. Her assistants are known for fleeing, and if they don’t get away first they are often times fired for inconsequential reasons. Under all of her tough exterior, there is a sweet woman who loves fiercely. You just have to break down the massive concrete barriers around her heart.

Holly Carter is one of the few assistants that handled working with Victoria with ease. Victoria threw every challenge her way and Holly met expectations with ease and excellence. So when Holly up and walked away during Paris Fashion Week, Victoria was surprised and unbelievably hurt. Twist! Holly didn’t leave to quit, somehow she was injured and developed amnesia. The young assistant has been living in Paris for a year now.

This ice queen age gap romance will keep you on your toes all the way to the end. Radley keeps the tension taut all the way through the last chapter. My only grievance with this book is that I wish there had been more one on one interaction between the two leading ladies. A little more dialogue would have launched this book into the next stratosphere. With that being said, this book is a really great read, and I sincerely hope that we get another book featuring Victoria and Holly.

Fashion magazine editor Victoria Hastings discovers while staying in Paris that her former assistant Holly Carter, who allegedly abandoned the job, is in hospital with amnesia. Victoria is adamant to bring Holly back home and help her recover but, in the process, both women will undergo a journey of mutual discovery of their feelings.

This is another novel based on the Devil wears Prada trope which normally features an age gap relationship and an ice queen against a more lively character. The peculiarity of this novel is that Holly suffers from amnesia which brings additional conflicts to the plot.

The novel is written in third person from the point of view of three characters: the leads Victoria and Holly and Victoria’s friend Gideon. While the main characters are well-rounded, I didn’t feel their chemistry until the very end maybe because the reader is told about the characters’ feelings more than shown by their actions. The secondary characters are a bit stereotyped and Victoria’s children sometimes act too mature for their ages.

All in all, the story is entertaining with some funny and humorous moments and a good twist at the end. Depite some situations feel a bit far-fetched, it’s a good read if you don’t take things too seriously.

Overall, an entertaining read based on the Devil wears Prada trope. 3.5 stars.

It feels like I read this book in a single breath. Though well written with little to no angst, the book didn't 'wow' me. I think it's because I expected more interaction between Holly and Victoria (I almost wrote Andy and Miranda there.) They both spent such a large part of the book hiding from the other it left little room for their chemistry to build up. Not the best DWP uber I've read but definitely not the worst either.

Bring Holly Home is a fantastic novel and probably one of my favourite books by A.E. Radley. Bring Holly Home was originally written as a fan fiction by Radley based on the Devil Wears Prada.

Victoria Hastings is an editor for a fashion conglomerate; she has an ice queen persona and doesn’t suffer fools gladly. While in France for Paris Fashion week she is contacted by a journalist that informs her that her ex- assistant, Holly didn’t just up and leave her job the year before but was in an accident and has amnesia. She is and has been in a hospital in Paris for the past year since the previous Paris fashion week. Victoria rushes to Holly’s aide and is determined to get the young woman back to New York however as they spend time together both Victoria and Holly begin to see other sides to one another and their feelings grow.

Such a brilliant story and one I know I will read time and time again. This book has two ingredients that I love in novels, Ice Queens melting and age-gap romance. The tension between Holly and Victoria is palpable and at times the reader may think these two may never confess their attraction and feelings. It’s definitely a slow burn but one I’d gladly enjoy rereading again.

I emailed the author shortly after reading the book to ask if this was the start of a new series. I really feel both Holly and Victoria have more story to tell and hope that it won’t be long until we read more from these two because I couldn’t put the book down once their chemistry started to build and can only see it continuing (and intensifying) into another book.

Detailed score: 2.75

I feel like I need to open with the disclaimer that I am a massive fan of Devil Wears Prada fanfic - and the thawing ice queen trope in general. As such, in this sub-genre I have very high standards and some preferences for how I like the characters to interact and come together...and I’ve also read some fantastically creative work.

This work was in my ‘meh’ column in both fanfic and paid form...but I might be being unfairly harsh. I couldn’t read ‘Victoria’ as a character (with slight characterisation differences) in her own right — I wanted Miranda.

So. Disclaimers over, I found the overall storyline, and the characterisation inparticular, lacked depth. Slight spoiler here: there is also lots of pining and little resolution.

Overall: Look. It’s still good. And I am delighted that some of our talented fanfic writers are finally getting the in print recognition (and some $$) that they so richly deserve. You won’t regret your purchase (it’s good karma if nothing else!) but my ice queeny standards were only defrosted, not moved by this one.

I really enjoyed it

Age gap stories have never been my favorite to reads but I really did enjoy this one. The characters were well written as has come to be the norm when reading one of Radley' books. Its focus really is just on Holly and Victoria. As much as I would have liked more of Louisa's neuroticism and Gideon's wit I'm glad that was kept to minimum. This was a very enjoyable read for me :)

I was so looking forward to this book! It was as good as i was hoping for, though not the way i expected it. One reason is one of main character had amensia. one of my favorite kind of story. The other reason is that one of the main character is an ice queen character/boss.

This book reminded me so much about Devil Wear Prada fanfic by Telanu . I feel like this book setting is in parallel universe or is it called alternate universe? The book is so similar, yet different at the same time. Like:
- the age gape is huge
- work for fashion magazine, though different name
- have two assistants (i’m not sure, if it is common in real life)
- Holly & Andy are the second assistant
- Though Miranda was straight until she met Andy, Victoria already been out with women before she married her ex-husband
- Andy was straight and her boyfriend was a chef. Holly is bi or lesbian, her girlfriend was also a chef.
- DWP had many hot scenes, this book had none.
- Sigh, the lists go on but i’m lazy.

The different, Holly walked out and dissappeared and got into an accident with servere head trauma (which didnt mention what really happened during the accident) and lost her memories. Victoria found her one year later by the help of the freelance journalist that knew Holly. In DWP fanfic, the story was kind of focus in the company and things that happened around Miranda (if i remember right). In this book, the story was focus mostly in their house and things that help to bring Holly’s memories back, no company related.

I’m not sure why but i found this book kind of emotional to me. A few times, i found my eyes filled up with tear. Maybe gladful for Holly that she still has someone in her life and care for her when her remember nothing.

Well, i love this book. I really enjoyed it. And i really like the cover as well.

A.E Ridley with every book she has written is very quickly becoming one of my favourite authors. Her books are easy enjoyable reads full of fun and mischievous. With each book characters are becoming more developed and the writing more streamlined. I would highly recommend everyone to read Bring Holly Home.

I liked it
In this book, we have the classic Ice-queen that secretly has a heart which is discovered by the smart and sweet woman who in this particular book is bit younger.
I think the plot was good, the chemistry was there, but I will have loved to see more Victoria-Holly interactions. Although there is age-gap is not notorious even though is mentioned a few times in the story.
I really Like Victoria she seems smart, confident, powerful and for some reason, my brain decided that she looks exactly like Cate Blanchett... (I like my brain sometimes.)

Overall a quick and nice read, definitely recommended to romance fans, I know I will read again.

Ladies and gents, this book is available on KU, so if you hate it, the only thing that you'll be crying for is the time that you wasted over it and not the money.
Victoria Hastings appeared as the typical ice queen, leading the cutthroat business of fashion magazine, she had to. Almost everyone who knew her saw her as Cruella Deville[minus the Dalmatian obsession]
The exception of Holly Carter, Victoria's personal assistant's assistant. Sure, Holly had been under Victoria's wrath and crazy work ethic but she saw something beautiful/kind behind every hardship caused by Victoria.
Holly began to feel something for Victoria and confessed,it didn't turn out well. Holly left and disappeared for a year. A year later, Victoria and an amnesia Holly rekindled.. Victoria went all out to help Holly. Holly never regained her memory but thankfully she'd been writing journals about her life. Through the journal, Holly reconfirmed her feelings towards Victoria, there were some push and pull moments from Victoria's side but eventually they found their H. E. A.
A special shout out to Victoria's kids, they were really attentive towards their mother's feelings.

This book was a breath of fresh air! There were so many moments where I honestly laughed out loud. And the romance was so so sweet!

Victoria was fascinating, with so many layers. Holly was a really unique character, it was amazing how the author gave her such a wonderful personality even though much of her memories was missing. I loved the kids too. The dialogue was amazing - heartfelt and emotional at times, hilarious and witty at others, and cloaked in mystery and stilted with missing pieces at other times. This was a brilliantly crafted story, I loved the way bits and pieces of Holly's life and Victoria's feelings were slowly revealed.

I didn't know this had been a fanfic before this published form, but I did wonder as I was reading, as I got distinct Devil Wears Prada vibes. Fans of the movie/Mirandy will enjoy this and so will fans of brilliant writing and an incredible love story!

One of my favourite books I've read in a long time, if ever. I read this in a matter of hours, I couldn't put it down for a second. I was so sad to read the last page. I am buying a paperback copy of this book first chance I get because I know I'll be re-reading this year after year!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I thought this read was entertaining with an intriguing plot that was to some extent pushing the believe ability envelop. Although that did not hinder my appreciation for Victoria Hastings, the cold-hot magazine editor and mother of two. Victoria is a piece of work but her strength of character was of interest to me as she interacted with others. Holly Carter, "stuck" in Paris with no recollection of who she is. Holly is a very likeable character as she deals with her circumstances after the accident. The children were a positive addition to the read Hugo and Alexia both understand their mother and want happiness for her. Because if she is happy, there family life is happy.

3.75 stars - Going into this, I thought this was a novel adaptation of an old Swan Queen fanfic, but clearly, I was mistaken. I’m pretty sure Bring Holly Home is actually based on The Devil Wears Prada . As much as I liked the movie as a teenager, I’ve never been part of the fandom so this was pretty “new” to me. Even though the amnesia trope’s been used over and over in fanfiction, this story was fun and engaging with a cast of lovely side characters. I really like the dynamics between Holly and Victoria (when they were actually talking to each other). The dialogues were smooth and believable, but I wish we’d seen more interactions between the two of them. The ending was predictable, and I would have liked to know what happened to Holly when she was in Paris! Still, this was a nice, easy romance which is what I needed. If you’re looking for a steamy romance, this isn’t it. There is no sex and they kiss only once.

PS: The audiobook is really good. I don’t know if it was coincidental, but Emily Beresford (narrator) nailed Meryl Streep’s intonations in her role as Miranda, it was a little freaky.

A queer version of The Devil Wears Prada. If you are looking for a racey romance, this is not it.

Famous fashion magazine and an infamous fashion magazin editor, making the life of her assistants miserable, you know the score. The devil wears Gucci sunglasses in this case. The girl in question walks out on Meryl in Paris, just like in the movie, but this time she has an accident and amnesia and gets abandoned in Paris by everybody.

Besides Meryl Streep, picture Stanley Tucci as Gideon and you are all set. I actually rewatched the movie around the middle of this book as a primer. That was more fun, although I don‘t like Anne Hathaway. I wonder if this book started as a fanfiction spin-off for the movie?

Pretty sedate tempo. A mellow sense of humour pops up here and there. The story nicely meandered along, without much suspense or drama. And the ending just sort of happened, without an emotional highlight. I actually turned back some pages to check if I had missed the ending, it was that uneventful.

And no sex. Shouldn‘t there be at least one steamy sex scene in a romance novel?

Ok, there was a few pages of brief excitement, when someone went missing for a few pages, but other than that I felt little compulsion to pick this up in the latter half of the narrative. It might have been a bit boring. Nice, but boring.

Normally I roll my eyes at all the unnecessary drama in romance novels, but here that might actually have livened up the book. What about those Emily Blunt characters in Victoria‘s office, they could have added some tension. Or she could have explored the age difference some more and how the outside world reacts to the two getting together.

Btw, we never find out what kind of accident.... forgot her name already... actually had and why she really walked out on Victoria in Paris. Oh, Holly, right...

I might be tempted to pick up another book by the author, but don‘t hold your breath.

This reads like a Devil Wears Prada fanfic. Not sure if it's meant to, but it did to me. Of course there's the twist of Holly, the assistant, suffering amnesia during Fashion Week and being stuck in hospital in Paris for a year. Victoria, the high-powered ice-queen of a fashion editor, brought her home to New York and things developed from there. It's sweet but predictable. I like the secondary characters like Gideon and Victoria's children. They liven the story up. How or why Holly got amnesia is not addressed, which is a shame. I kept expecting something to explain that event. Maybe it'll be in the sequel. Overall this is an okay read - 2.5 to 3*

A short romance building on the Devil Wears Prada pattern from a lesbian angle.

High-maintenance fashion magazine owner Victoria Hastings returns to Paris for Fasion Week a year after one of her assistants abandoned her at the previous year's event. There she discovers that her former assistant Holly has been in hospital the entire year with no memory of her life before, and the way she responds is all out of character for the dragon lady the world assumes she is. Victoria manages to return Holly to New York and their relationship grows from there and in ways that put the spotlight on their earlier relationship.

The setup has been done before, and it's not even a particularly new one for lesbian romance (its the second one with this plot element I've read this year), but the recovery from a brain injury does add something new, as does the age difference between the protagonists. It's pretty much the perfect length for what it is, although I'm fairly sure that the main couple is ultimately doomed unless they learn to be better at communication then they are here.

Interesting story arc but the plot hole to the cause of amnesia left me hanging. The ending was a little rushed for me. There was something missing for me, the 'falling in love' and 'sparks' of their chemistry. I felt like I missed a chapter or two and was catapulted to them already being in love. I love reading the moments protagonists fall in love when I'm reading romance.

I understand this was based on an older work of Radley's. It's a sweet story, a good happy story. I enjoyed it. No drama (just a smatter of angst and a splatter of self doubts).

This is one of those books that I absolutely loved. I wish I could give more than five stars. I was immersed in Holly and Victoria’s story from beginning to end. The story is great. I love Victoria’s type of ice queen where they’re such a softie for their lover. Sometimes she’s unnecessarily mean, yes, but I guess that’s the whole point of it all.

I also found the unfolding of the amnesia thing really interesting. I did not know that the “TV amnesia” where the patient forgets their past is quite rare. The person not being able to retain memories after the head trauma is a more common event. Huh. Who would’ve known?

The is my first book by A.E Radley and I like her. I like her writing style and hope to read more of her works.

Decent read, about a 2.75. The story is .....nice? Is that the right descriptor? The author is a good writer and the twist right at the beginning was intriguing. However it's a very predictable story, not a lot goes on, though I liked the secondary character of Gideon and thought his role was well thought out.

Steam factor was about a 0.5/5, this is not a thrilling romance, not much build up and no intimate scenes. If that's what you are looking for in a read, this isn't it. But a light well written story, sure.
