The Arthur Mory Project is in trouble.

After spending millions of dollars on him, Integrated Neurorobotics eponymous humanoid robot, the shoe-obsessed Arthur Mory, is missing.

When he turns up in the local drunk tank, suspected of murder, lead scientist Thea Kolijn doesn’t know what to do. It seems Arthur’s latest upload, a recently deceased John Doe, wanted the victim dead. To complicate matters, sinfully attractive homicide detective, Carter Delaney, the very person who holds Arthur’s freedom in his hands, is bent on wooing her. If she doesn’t agree to a date, is it the scrap heap for Arthur?

But Delaney has the murder victim and his brain on ice at the city morgue. A brain with more memories for Arthur’s data bank—a brain Thea can use to solve the murder and clear robotic Arthur’s good name.

Little black dresses are bought, dates agreed to, dances danced, and money swindled. Will it be enough to save Arthur?

I found this to be a great read. I loved Arthur and all the trouble he gets into and creates. The story moves quickly having you wondering what will happen next. I hope this author is going to bring us some more story about Arthur.

Very entertaining.
Arthur Mory is a humanoid robot. The objective of his creator, a young female neuro-roboticist, is to create a renaissance man. Arthur is the recipient of memories from a deceased John Doe who seems to be a murderer. The book starts off with the bizarre event of Arthur in jail. I loved the simple behavioral quirks of Arthur like his obsession with shoe laces. The tale as it unwinds from here radiates imagination and humour. Emotional tension is evident with the homicide detective Carter Delaney as well as classic family and roommate interactions. Arthur absorbs more “memories” and the characters of each of those donors adds interest and complexity to the investigation of the murder. These characters, as refected by the memories in Arthur, definitely drive the suspense.
In many ways this is a classic murder mystery but with a twist. Arthur drives the suspense around the murder, the sexy detective adds some potential for romance, the long-time “platonic” relationship with the roommate some intrigue. The book suggests great opportunities for sequels.
Overall a very entertaining read.
