Falling for a Rose #8

The Sweetest Surrender

Rate this book
Effervescent, Fearless, and self-assured, Selena Strauss is always the life of the party. Her buoyant personality is a pleasure to be around causing her to garner the attention of a hot commodity she’s had her eyes on for a while. Being in the proximity of her walking wet-dream, Selena finds herself immensely infatuated with the possibility of their relationship flourishing into something much more. That is until the reality of her parent’s divorce becomes the focal point of Selena’s life, and suddenly Selena’s not so sure that the happily ever after she’s chasing is real.

Jordan Alexander Rose is unapologetic about his ninety-five percent success rate. As co-owner and lead partner of Rose and Garnett LLC, every move Jordan makes is calculated, methodical, and planned for a spirited outcome. That’s why when the woman he’s dating, Selena Strauss, begins to lose hope in love; Jordan sets out to win a case that involves more than just a sealed victory, but a succumbed submission of Selena’s mind, body, and spirit. He’s never been a man to give up and teaching Selena a lesson on true love will invoke her sweetest surrender.

The Falling for a Rose series follows each member of the Rose family as they explore this thing called love. However, each book is just as enjoyable if read as a standalone as it is if read in the series order.

Least favorite in the series...

I really loved Selena when she was helping Octavia get with Jonathan. However her parents divorce made her take a turn for the worse. I really think the restaurant scene was overly dramatic. I really don't like the fact that it was "okay" and accepted that she put her hands on her father. An apology should have be communicated and not just from her parents to her, but also from Selena to her father. This especially true for me when she found out her mother served him with divorce papers and not vice versa. I do admire Jordan's patience and how he romanced Selena. On to the next one...

Better and Better

The Roses keep getting better and better. All the Rose men are dominate, but Jordan was in a league of his own. I love how they love and I love how they love their family.
Can't wait for Jasmine and Luke.

Oh, wow! Jordan Rose! Sexy with a commanding presence, and Holy Smokes!🔥🔥 Then we have Selena...for the most part I liked her in the other books, and at the beginning of this story, I thought she was a sexy little firecracker. She and Jordan seem to have fun together, and there were also some instances where I thought they would burst into flames with all the sparks flying around them! LOL!!

But when Selena finds out her parents are divorcing, she becomes frustrating. My parents divorced when I was around eight or nine, and while I wasn't as devastated, I do understand the detrimental effects it may have on the offsprings--whether they're still young children, teenagers, or adults. It can't be easy watching two people you thought were the epitome of love, marriage, and family "give up on each other" after all these years. It was also understandable that Selena would start to have doubts and fears about her own love life in the wake of her parents divorce. And maybe...just maybe if her mother had been completely honest about the reasons for the divorce, Selena could have handled things better...yet, I couldn't get over how this 34-year old woman was throwing tantrums and hissy fits like a child. That little confrontation with her father?! What the what?!! I was a bit stunned! While I do understand the anger, there had to be a better way.

And Jordan Rose had some serious patience. He was determined not to give up on Selena, no matter how hard she pushed or tried to run. I can appreciate a man who is loving, understanding, and puts his woman's needs first.

I wish the story would have pulled a little more of Jordan into it, and not have had all the focus on Selena's parents. The opening scene with Selena and the Rose sisters was what I was used to and wanted to see more of with Jordan and his brothers. One of the things I love about Ms. Norris's family series is how each book digs a little deeper into each character as they relate to their family, and friends while establishing a relationship with the love of their lives. We got to see Jordan's oldest brother, Jonas and his wife, Samiyah bring twin babies into the world, but it felt almost like a separate story. I guess I've been spoiled with all the Valentines and Roses, I wanted to see Jordan interact with his family more now that he and Selena had made their relationship official.

This was my least favorite of the Rose series. I just could not buy Selena being that out of control as a 34 yo grown A woman because her parents were divorcing.

TBH, many times throughout the book, I wondered what Jordan wanted with her. The whole restaurant scene was so over the top, ridiculous, and disrespectful, it was almost unbelievable. This woman was supposed to be an adult, wasn't she?

And what was the purpose of Miss Thang stalking Jordan? I didn't understand the point. Jordan never put her in her place. I never heard what she wanted when she showed up accusing him of avoiding her, and the whole thing with him giving her a ride was too much, especially when he was supposed to be so into Selena.

I listened to the book, and the narration was ok. Mari was good. The male narrator was ok.

My next thought was that I know he was Jordan Alexander Rose, but he had a set of brass ones to make that move he made with the therapist. These people were adults. He completely overstepped. He should have been making that suggestion to Miss Hysteria.

This book surprised me with so many things. I wasn't disappointed. I just didn't care for it. I made it through, but I'm glad to move on to the next book.

"The Sweetest Surrender" by Stephanie Nicole Norris

My Thoughts....

This was another good series...Falling For A Rose Book 8 in 'The Sweetest Surrender' that dealt with another Rose brother....Jordan Rose and the Ms. Selena Strauss. What a interesting ride this read was as we see Jordan going after Selena and not letting anything stop him. With Selena having some personal problems due to marriage issues her parents were having. What I really loved about Jordan was what he did to help with the situation with Selena's parents. However, there were a few issues that I wished had been a little clearer for me but by the end of this story I still found this novel a good read that would keep your attention leaving you wanting more.

Hottttt!!!!!

Yes! Jordan and Selena's story just had me at the first word until the last. Once I started reading, I couldn't put this book down. These Rose men, though. Pick this book up if you want to read a great story. I can't wait for the next story...

I loved me some Jordan, but Selena was way too reactive and confusing for me!!!…Her outlook and hopes for and Jordan was way different when she was talking about it in Octavia’s book!!!…
She was so encouraging for others, but became so discouraging when it was her turn for the man she wanted!!!…The scene in the restaurant really did it for me!!!…She went way overboard where her father was concerned, only to find out, her mother was the reason behind the divorce request!!!…

Jordan was so freakin' sexy! Out here just exuding BDE all over the place. I completely understand why Selena fell in love with him. Who wouldn't fall for a millionaire who's also humble?!!! I loved that Jordan didn't take himself too seriously because of his status and his last name. He and Selena were able to be a little childish and have fun together when they hung out. But, when Selena finds out her parents are divorcing, she becomes frustrating. Even as an adult, I get being unhappy because your parents are no longer together but, Selena took it to the extreme. Why are you letting the demise of your parents marriage effect your relationship to the point where you almost break things off?!!! I just thought she was being overly dramatic. But, being who he is, Jordan stepped in a saved the day. He strongly "encouraged" her parents to go to marriage counseling and talk out their issues. Once Selena was able to have a conversation with her parents about the reason behind the divorce, she realized how silly she was being and decided to get her man back. I'm just glad she finally found her common sense. The Sweetest Surrender was another SNN banger. Now, onto the next one.

Fantastic!

This was my favorite Rose story by far, because I love the chemistry between Jordan and Selena. Their personalities complimented each other. Jordan have more of a serious demeanor and Selena have more of a carefree and relax personality. Jordan is such a caring man because he cared about Selena's well being. She is so funny and seems to have an aura that people seem to gravitate to because she is fun to be around. I think their love will flourish if communication is expressed in every conversation and situation in the relationship. The love scenes were very descriptive, explosive, sensual and animalistic. Great Read !ReneeG

Yassss!!!

Yassss!!! Jordan came through full force. He's my new book bae. Selena was all about love until her foundation and prime example of her parents throttled everything she believed. Selena pushed Jordan away, but he was unwilling to go. He showed her exactly what it meant to be loved by a Rose, especially him. This story had me laughing at some parts and swooning at others. It was filled with good characters and a good plot.

I do love the love they're making!

Selena and Jordan's story was well worth the wait! I so enjoyed how suave and debonair Jordan was, how he eased her heart and mind, how he loved her unconditionally! Selena was so cute, she had to stop the tug of war going on in her heart and just surrender! I really enjoyed this book! Looking forward to the rest of the siblings finding their happily ever after! Keep them coming Stephanie Norris!!!!

O M G!!

I’m beyond elated to know that this series isn’t coming to an end yet!!! I’ve never read love stories so intricately woven together. Stephanie has created a true life fairytale storyline. She creates love that seems obtainable. The character development creates a vivid picture of each character, along with their personality. A five star read I recommend to all that enjoy a great read. Impatiently waiting for the next installment of the series.

Promise of Forever

Keeping it real about this book. Jordan seemed like he could be a more interesting character but this book did not do him justice. Don't get me wrong the story line was good it just read like there should have been more dialogue concerning what made Jordan tick.

Selena on the other hand was more than the outspoken good time girl.

Truthfully, I would have never imagined these two characters ever connecting as they seemed pokes apart.

True Surrender

JORDAN,JORDAN,JORDAN! What can I say . He knew what he wanted and didn’t stop until he got it,just the way he wanted it I must admit I was a little disappointed in Selena She was always the one who spoke he mind and then once she had the opportunity to be real with Jordan she had those moments when she would just shut down. All I can say is I’m glad she came to her senses.

Oh my!

I can't believe these books, that's why I had to take a break between each one. All of the Rose family books are beautifully written about African American men and women who meet and fall in love. Each and every book is sensual, sexy, funny and will make you cry at the end. I can hardly wait for the next one.

Omg!!! This was an awesome read.

I loved Jordan and Selena! Their chemistry and compatibility were undeniable. And Jordan...omg! He was sooo sexy in mind. I'm loving the Rose men. This was my first time reading about them and it certainly won't be my last. Mrs. Norris weaves a well developed story with unforgettable characters and a unexpected twist. 5 🌟 all the way.

Alright now

These Rose brothers are totally bringing it in the romance dept. I did have issues with Selena's reactions to Jordans feelings toward her because of her parents pending divorce. I understood it but it was frustrating. Loved that Jordan understood where she was coming from and hung in there. Another good delivery on to book 9 in this series.

I love these wholesome black love stories

We have too many love stories surrounding the hood/ghetto but every black person in America didn't grow up like that. These stories have been so refreshing. No grammatical errors or use of the wrong word or name. Just an all around beautiful story involving black love!

Awesome Read!

I really enjoyed reading this book! I loved the chemistry between Jordan and Selene! However, I think that I would have had a talk with Jordan about Madison because she seems to need a restraining order against her! Lol. Anyway, I feel that everyone reading this book will enjoy it! I definitely recommend it!

Enjoyed this book that has wonderful writing and great themes. Who knew, their love of poetry and the differences seemed to compliment each other. The theme of having a psychologist to talk is something needed. The love between the characters Selena and Jordan is heartwarming. I like this series and anticipate reading the next book.

Love the Rose/Valentine Series (to be honest all of SN Norris books that I have read so far are fire). Selena came off as childish in this one and I had to switch from audiobook to ebook because I cannot take Leon Nixon as the reader for the series. Jacobi Diem please, pretty please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both ladies (Wesleigh Siobhan and Mari) are wonderful!

The book was very enjoyable until about 80% it wasn’t able to redeem itself anymore. Selena was 100% foul for going about her parent’s divorce the way she did at that restaurant. Jordan was also 100% wrong for handling her father the way he did. I do not care how much BDE you put out.

And to not apologize🙃? I guess they do deserve each other.
