This is no sugar-laden, dime-a-dozen Mid-Age Crisis for Dummies! No - this is the Real Deal. NO HOLDS BARRED…
And what an eye-opener it was for me!
You know, guys, our own mid-life crisis can be bought out, or played-around through SO easily compared to our better half’s side of the deal...
And some guys, ladies - me thankfully included - have curbed their wild broncos while young and - at the risk of seeming Totally Tom-foolish to the rest of the guys - stayed the course while their inner storm raged.
Face it: either you’re a love-and-Duty stay-at-home type dude, or you’re a wilful risk-taker. One true narrow way - or the wide open highway. Face the facts, guys.
But, come right down to it, poor Janis Joplin was dead centre with “freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose.” Only we don’t often see the reverse side of that coin. Freedom’s empty.
And the reverse side of that last Free Fling could be Old Loser Trashes Everything of Value in his Life. Shakespeare said that “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” Because it ‘hath no blues like a woman at mid-age.’
You are Not the be-all and end-all for her. You never were. What she loves is in fact your love, patience and forbearance. Not your inner emptiness.
Men, do YOURSELVES a favour.
