Anthropomorphized cats and a dog or two, visit Transylvania and get involved with vampires and other things that go bump in the night. just creepy enough for the younger kids. The illustrations are great, too.

Inca is back and is now spending Easter holidays in Transylvania with her family and friends. They've heard about vampires lurking the castle they're going to stay in, but Inca reckons that they're all just rumors. Little did they know that there's really something sinister going on in Dracula's lair.

This has been a fun and vampish read. My youngest son loved the cats, especially Inca and From age, and now Katski for their helpfulness and loyalty to their friends and owners. I loved the story of Dracco and his uncle Dracula's love for him.

The mystery of Buja the sorceress, plus the theft that happened during the Easter party kept my kiddo glued onto his seat. Thumbs up!

‘A whimsical, whiskery mystery’

Author R.F. Kristi earned her PhD in economic development and is a former professional of the United Nations Children’s Fund. Currently living in France, Kristi is not only an animal lover but also is devoted to animal rescue programs. Her Inca Book Series, of which this is volume 5, is an Award-Winner in the Wishing Shelf Book Awards & Reader’s Favorite Awards.

The Inca Cat book series is for younger readers up to age 8 or 12 and also animal lovers. Her goal - that the proceeds of the Inca Book Series will be donated to animal rescue efforts in developing countries – especially the Cat Protection Trust of Sri Lanka

The book reads with gentle ease in a format that makes reading for younger readers not only feasible but also enjoyable. The terrific illustrations are by illustrator Jorge Valle. In introducing her characters - Inca (our Siberian cat leader, detective and diarist!), Cara, Fromage, Charlotte are each described as to type and personality of cat. But when it comes to the other main character Mom (Missy) Kristi’s flavor shines through - ‘Mom is a humanoid jointly owned by us. The humanoids call her Missy, but she is Mom to us kitties. Mom runs our cheese shop. The cheese shop is situated in the heart of Kensington. It is modeled on our successful cheese shop in Paris. We let Mom get away with thinking that she owns us, when it is us kitties who actually own Mom. Our world revolves around Mom, but she has a bee in her bonnet about things that we kitties never care about. Our food Our diet is carefully controlled by Mom much against our wishes. No amount of twirling and meowing around her feet can change her mind when she prepares dinner. Even looking at her with adoring eyes gets us nowhere. Drat!!!! Drat!!!! & Treble Drat!!! ‘ And of course there is Aunt Florence….

Kristi provides a superb synopsis of the book – ‘Can one cat detective keep vampires off the guest list? Inca the Siberian Kitty and her globetrotting furry family are always up for an adventure. She can’t wait for the upcoming Easter jamboree at Bran Castle. It’s bound to inspire pages of new thrills for her diary. But behind the fancy dresses and decorations, Inca stumbles upon a spooky mystery…When a scheming sorceress and a would-be vampire threaten to crash the party, Inca must follow the clues to thwart their plan. With her family and new friends in danger, the world’s greatest cat detective must think on all four feet to keep vampires from running wild in Transylvania.’

Pure pleasure to read – both as an adult with a keen eye for parody and fancy – and for young readers to read for themselves, or to be treated to a terrific bedtime story. Highly Recommended.

Cute cat caper

What can I say? I'm a softie for a cat story and this one is fun. Though it's a kids story I enjoyed reading about the feline and canine detectives as they worked to solve the mystery of dracula's castle

This was a cute kids' book about a cat detective and his cat, dog, and hamster friends who solve mysteries. In Vampires at Easter, Inca the detective cat and her friends travel to Transylvania with their human owner, who is a party planner and wine and cheese caterer. She's throwing a monster-themed birthday party at Bran Castle for a wealthy client. The animals discover a sorceress is trying to keep a little boy from not becoming a vampire, and has kidnapped the the boy's uncle. Inca and her friends team up with the boy and his cat to save his uncle and prevent him from becoming a vampire on his twelfth birthday on Easter Sunday.

While the story and illustrations were cute, I had a problem with the formatting, which may be the fault of the publishers and not the author, I don't know. The paragraphs were each only a sentence or two long, more like a web ad than a childrens' novel. This was not only visually distracting, but also made it a bit hard at times to follow who was talking, as dialog was split into many "paragraphs". It also disrupted the flow, making the writing choppy.

Despite that, it was a fun and unique adventure.

I came across this book and even though it was book #6 and I hadn't read the first 5, I took the plunge. With the introduction of the characters in the beginning, I don't feel I missed anything in the story line at all. It was a cute, fast read and I believe it was well written for children. Even though it involved Vampires, it wasn't scary, but was strong in friendship and loyalty. A nice lesson for life.

Cats and Bats...and Cheese!

The Snoopy Cat series is absolutely adorable, perfect for advanced primary school readers to tweens (or spooky cat loving adults). This episode is a little bit scary and describes a trip to Bran Castle, famously associated with the 15th century ruler who is now known as Dracula. While their humans cater an Easter feast, Inca and friends solve several mysteries and have some lovely meals.

Inca, a cat and all her furry friends have an adventure at Bran Castle for Easter. Vampires, bats, wolves all abound in this delightful tale. The illustrations helped to make the story even more fun. I loved how all the cats and their friends helped each other whenever it was needed! The cats along with the dogs and the furry hamster to help a young Vampire NOT become one. Even Count Dracula helps out in this friendly story. Friendship is remarkable wonderful!

Vampires are Easter: Diary of a Snoopy Cat (Inca Book Series 6)

Even though when I read the book I wonder if I am reading a book intended for children or adults I still enjoy it. They are simple but they still have a theme and a little fun and mystery

This is a fun kids mystery involving cats, dogs and vampires. It has a great spooking Transylvanian castle setting. My daughter loved it. There were a few typos and editing errors but they did not detract from the story. I’d like to read more books in this series.

This is the first book that I’ve read in this series. It’s a children’s book but it was a cute story with non-scary vampires. The main theme of the book was the importance of friendship and teamwork

This is one of the cutest, and most unique Easter/Vampire/cat books I've had the pleasure to read! The illustrations are adorable - Ms. Kristi does a great job with the animals's expressions and the fur texture is something I've not seen before - fascinating!
I didn't realize the book was party of the "Inca" series but had no trouble catching up and figuring what was going on. The book is listed as a children's book but I felt compelled to read the rest of the series - that's how entertain it was.
The cats , hamster, and dogs travel to Transylvania for an Easter celebration catered by their human. The animals soon encounter a young boy with very long canines and help him located his kidnapped uncle, an actual vampire. After freeing the vampire they help him finish a potion to transform his nephew back into a full human. All while taking breaks for delicious French cheese and other tidbits.
The book was hilarious and suspenseful without talking down to children. I think people of all ages will enjoy this as an Easter treat, then again at Halloween. Read it to yourself, your kids, your neighbors!!!

Inca and friends are back in the 6th of this delightful series. Kristi knows how to engage young readers in a compelling mystery that has suspense without violence.

This time vampires are the threat. The ever-popular, monstrous beings are sure to be a hit not only with those familiar with the series but also with readers who haven't read any of the other volumes. The language is simple enough for children ready for chapter books, while the story is strong enough to attract readers who just like a good mystery.

Kristi's characters are delightful. May there be many more Inca books in the series.
