A battered and abused beauty…a handsome stranger with a heart of gold…and a manipulative brother with no desire to do for himself once his slave has vanished…
Becky Dupont has lost almost everything she’s ever loved, from her dear mother to her freedom, and now even the home she knows has been ripped away. She desperately wanted to be free of her tyrannical brother but never expected kidnapping as her means of escape.
Kenny has had enough of watching the pretty girl next door’s suffering and decides that it’s up to him to do something about it finally. He can’t just sit back and continue to witness the beatings, abuse, and fear inflicted upon her by her abusive brother, and since no one else seems willing or able to help, he takes it upon himself. His only option: to kidnap her and hide her away from the world for now.
Now the whole town has joined in the search for the missing woman, including her monster of a brother, who’s discovered that he has no desire to do for himself after the years of having a near-slave. Becky must make a choice in her new home—stay and hide away forever or return to the life of slavery that she was so desperate to leave such a short time ago.
With no apparent skills—or so she’s told—and nowhere to go, does Becky have any chance of a loving, happy future?
Or is she doomed to return to the life of misery that she’s shared with her brother since she was only eleven years old?
Elliee Atkinson spins out American historical western romance stories for readers that appreciate the romance that happened in the Old Wild West. Elliee loves writing and reading romance. Her first western romance was inspired by "Wild Montana Sky" by Debra Holland for the story perseverance and determination of the women from the wild west and how they overcome adversaries, fight for the love they deserved and desired.
Another wonderful adventure in this amazing series! The story is told from Becky's and Kenny's point of view, but you also get an insight in what happens in town. How Bruce, the nasty brother, handles the disappearance. And how Sam, Adam and Marc, whom we know so well from the other books in this series, hope to find Becky safe and sound. Maybe in the next book Marc will find his true love? I received a copy and chose to review it.
Snatching the Bride by Elliee Atkinson is the fourth installment of the Family of Love Series. It does move a little more slowly with better pacing than books in the past but still is somewhat repetitive. Atkinson's books basically have a decent premise but tend to either skip from mountain top to mountain top with little delving into the details, rushing to the conclusion, which is kind of pointless in a romance because the conclusion is determined after the characters are introduced. It is the journey, not the destination, which is important.
Becky is 27 years old and has lived with her resentful, drunk, mean older brother since she was 11 and her parents were killed. She is little better than a slave but pretty much hangs on to her positive personality, singing as she hangs the clothes on the line. All of a sudden she disappears. Her brother is too lazy to take care of himself and just keeps drinking. Most of the town folks believe her brother, Bruce, has killed her and buried the body somewhere. Where has she gone? Will all turn out well?
Relatively enjoyable, quick read, but not much depth.
Snatching the Bride by Elliee Atkinson is a love/hate story about an abusive brother and the man who saves her. Becky DuPont’s parents died when she was 11 when her parents died and her brother took over guardianship of her. When Bruce moved back into the family house with Becky, he expected her to ‘repay’ him for his ‘kindness of caring for her’ to be a servant to him. Kenny Abramson was caring for Becky’s neighbor’s house while they were away and could hear the abuse Becky got from her brother. He wanted to help her but didn’t know how. But one night while Bruce and Becky were sleeping he kidnapped Becky. What evolved were kindness, friendship and trust. Kindness comes in all packages and if you look hard enough you will find it in the most unlikely spots. Sometimes people don’t know how to help when they something is wrong. And some just jump in and take matters into their own hands.
I am liking this series by Elliee Atkinson. This book introduces us to Becky, her brother Bruce and Kenny. You will see some old characters of Adam, Alice, Mark and Sam.. Becky's parents die when she is young, so her older brother has to move home and take care of her. She ends up becoming his slave until a neighbor decides to take the matter into his hands. He kidnaps Becky during the night and takes her to his cabin in the woods. I don't want to spoil the story for you but it is a cute story to read.
This is a clean romance that has a base of faith. Becky and Kenny are a sweet couple. It's great that he saved her from the horrible home life she had with her bully of a brother and helped her to find her sense of worth. I like how the author has included characters from her other books so we could see how they're doing. This book is worth reading!
Snatching The Bride by Elliee Atkinson is another splendid Western Romance story which is a stand alone in a series. The story will warm your heart. A real page Turner. My free opinion, ARC Thanks
Rescued from an unhappy home and into the arms of love!
Snatching the Bride is another sweet western romance in the Family of Love Series. This story is one that will have you turning page after page. A unique and captivating story with romance and a happy-ending that we all have come to expect. A little bit of mystery and a lot of romance. The characters are well developed and engaging. There are real life situations that the characters go through and face. It is easy to relate to the realism of the characters.
Elliee Atkinson does a fantastic job with the descriptiveness throughout her stories. You get a good sense of the area, the homes and the businesses. I will definitely continue to read the series to see what happens with the rest of the characters.
I have read several books by Elliee Atkinson. I have not been disappointed, yet! I recommend this book and series to anyone that enjoys reading a clean western romance with a delightful ending.
A woman kept in the house, no friends, No hope and feeling useless. What is she to do? That was Becky's life since her parents had died. Bruce, her brother felt since he gave up his freedom. She owed it to him to take care of everything. Kenny, a nice man had been watching this for a while and decided to do something. She was so lonely, she spoke to her stuffed animals like they were people. You could see the changes in the characters as the story went along. This plot is fairly simple but there is so much going on. The descriptions are wonderful of the mountains and the trees. To be thirty and never see anything or do anything. I found the story to be well written, even paced and so romantic. There was a lot of potential there. I found it almost impossible to put the book down, it was that interesting. I received this ARC free and voluntarily reviewed it.
Snatching The Bride (Family of Love Series) (A Western Romance Story) by Elliee Atkinson, can be read as a stand alone. Me. Atkinson is a new author to me. I enjoyed watching Becky and Kenny evolve into a comfortable and loving couple. There are many things to dislike about this story, Becky's abuse by her tyrannical brother, and the townspeople not helping her. But there is so much to love about this story, as well, such as overcoming fear, finding a safe harbor with a stranger, learning to love again, faith and finding a HEA. I think this author tackled the problem of abuse with thought and consideration. She managed to pull the reader into her amazing story and hold them in awe. The depth of character was amazing. The plot flows seamlessly and effortlessly. The storyline was wonderfully written with a few twists along the way. Well done!
Becky has lived with her brother, Bruce, for sixteen years, ever since their parents died when she was eleven. And Bruce has been punishing her for causing him to lose his freedom all those years ago.
Kenny has been housesitting for friends who live near Becky and Bruce. He has heard what goes on in that house. And as soon as he meets Becky, he makes up his mind to do something about her situation.
Read Snatching the Bride to see how Kenny goes about helping Becky. Truly beautiful love story.
This is an entertaining story. Kenny is a sneaky hero. He's kind and caring, and he's a gentleman. Becky is a quiet, sweet and emotionally abused woman. When Kenny steps in to rescue Becky, the whole town gets behind him. There's more conversation than action, but it's a captivating story. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
This was a very interesting story. My heart broke for Becky with her homemade animal friends. Kenny's kidnapping was inspired genius. Someone had to act. It was nice to catch up with Alice, Adam and the children. They are a wonderful constant in this series. I do hope the next book will be Mark's story. I had to read this all in one sitting to see how everything turned out.
This was a life no one should have to live with. Becky is a very sweet woman. Her brother abused her verbally and mentally. Kenny was not happy hearing the abuse of her verbally. Kenny is a good man. Loved the story. Couldn't put it down.
Becky was orphaned at 11 and raised by her older brother. He was a drunk, abusive and demeaning controlling brother. When Kenny saw how she was being treated he took drastic measures.
Very well written book that kept my interest from the first page until the last one.Becky is beaten by her brother Bruce when she is kidnapped by Kenny in his attempt to help her. When the whole town looks for her she thinks she has to choices to make but what if there was a third one ?
The struggles of a lonely girl and a dominating older brother were told well. However, the story had too many feelings repeated by most of the character s.
I love the way Elliee Atkinson puts a story together. I look forward to seeing another book from her -- a Western setting -- always clean and exciting.
