Maud Novec has been kicked out of her own home and winds up on the doorstep of Elmer Martin, a farmer who seeks companionship and help running his home. The budding romance is threatened, however, by a mystery surrounding Maud. Someone comes close to successfully killing her, and Elmer seeks Sam’s help in figuring out what’s going on, as well as whether the attempts on her life are connected to a mysterious treasure and to the death of Maud’s father.
F. Sharon Swope began writing when she was ten years old and never stopped. Except for a weekly column in her local newspaper, however, she did not seek publication until recently. Instead, Sharon married and raised four children to become lovers of books, reading and writing.
Several years ago Sharon’s youngest daughter Allyn Stotz was successful in getting her first children’s book, The Pea in Peanut Butter, published. Being 82 at the time, Sharon realized that if she was ever going to write the books she had in her mind all those years, she had better get started.
Twist of Fate, written in collaboration with her second daughter, Genilee, is her first published book. It is part of the Sam Osborne detective series now in progress. She has also published several short stories in magazines. Sharon lives with her husband Robert of sixty-four years in Woodbridge, Virginia.
The story had me laughing at times and crying at other times. All in all, I loved it from cover to cover. Perfect title, by the way. LOL. And love your characters. The names Maud and Elmer were very out dated making me think at first the book took place back in the fifties, but their personalities sprang to life showing me it was the present day. Wonderful love story infused with mystery. A GREAT read. I started it shortly after noon and with two or three interruptions, I still finished it the same day. I didn't want to stop reading.
