Seventeen year old Harper Collings Just wants to get away. Away from the life that has been inflicted on her. Away from the pain it causes. Away forever. Cole Kennedy has it all. A pretty girl on his arm. A best friend by his side. He’s the quarterback for his high school football team. Cole wants to get away from his life. Away from the stress it causes. Away forever. When two lives collide they find more that they were looking for. They find, Forever.
Once I read the blurb, I knew I had to have it. Finding Forever is a classic Young Adult book with just the right amount of cutesy, almost cliché storyline of young love and just the right amount of 'grown up' topics mixed into it. Finding forever does have some triggers of addiction and abuse but the heart of the story lies between a relationship that's unconditional, supportive and understanding. This book is fast paced and the secondary characters are definitely worth mentioning. Finding Forever is the type of 'happily ever after' kind of story you want to read when you feel like the whole world is against you... A romance novel through and through.
My heart is so full after reading this story and I am ecstatic to know there are two more books coming. Cole and Harper meet under difficult circumstances and this is their story. The trials and tribulations they both go through individually make them who they are today and they react in their environment based on these trials. I think EA Weston did such an amazing job bringing this story to life and providing the perfect balance of prior history so you can see where the characters are coming from, their current support systems and all the extended characters. I loved the growth from Cole's parents and truly cannot wait to read more about Ryan and Roxanne and then back to these two.
The emotions that are brought out in this book are so refreshing as my heart broke at many points (especially when my kindle battery died at 67%) and I found myself chuckling at points and just completely caught up in this innocent love story from two tragic points.
When Cole lashes out at his coach (who is also his father) and ends up in a detention centre he doesn't expect to meet Harper. Harper, this quiet, quick witted beautiful girl with a deep, dark secret. He's determined to wear her down but she's unlike any girl he's ever met before. As their relationship grows, they find the trust and comfort they have been looking for their whole lives in one another.
The premise of this was stronger for me than the actual story. I liked Cole's character a lot more than Harper's. The is a lot of abuse and addiction triggers in this story and I felt like they weren't fleshed out enough to make it seem real. The solutions came to easy for these characters - parents who are this strict/controlling do not tend to let go of the reigns so easily (not that it isn't plausible, it just seemed to convenient from the vibe I got). Overall, the story keeps you interested in what happens next but unsure if it's enough to read book two.
Not typically a fan of YA, but extremely drawn in by the blurb, I decided to give Finding Forever a try and I’m so glad I did! Closer to NA than true YA I was totally captivated by Harper and Cole. Emotional, just a bit angsty, and so darn sweet there was no way to not fall in love with their story. I haven’t enjoyed a book like this since Fallen Crest! I cannot wait for the next in this trilogy.
Both Cole and Harper start out damaged from horrible experiences, forced into the same school after getting into trouble these two lost souls quickly connect on a much deeper level. Seeming like complete opposites on the outside they’re actually true soul mates and share a beautiful first love that will span time. I’m seriously dying for more after reading this.
this is a perfect opposites attract story. Cole has find himself trouble that has sent him to a special school were he meets Harper who is in alot of trouble but it's what's brought them together. it's not easy for them but they seem to make it work. I fell in love with every character in this story.
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author. This book was an emotional roller-coaster, heartbreaking, heartwrenching, and eventually beautiful. I fell in hope with Cole and Harper, two damaged soul who seem to not have anything in common, but perceptions change my friends. Please read but be prepared for some tears.
Such a great read , fast paced and gives the right amount to keep you hooked and hopeful for an HEA. Harper is rebellious and finds herself in a heap of trouble one night. She is sent off to Sunshine Estates to finish out her senior year of high school. At the same time in a different town Cole is struggling with the demands put on him by his father/coach. He is a horrible father and when he pushes Cole's last button the outcome is unexpected. As Cole is also sent away to Sunshine Estates he doesn't expect to find a ray of light there waiting for him. OK so Harper is anything but a ray of light !! She is moody and rude and certainly NOT looking for ANY friends. Sunshine Estates is a welcome calm for Harper though. The life she lives at home is unhealthy and that isn't because of anything she does , it is because the controlling hands of her parents. Once Harper warms to Cole their relationship becomes this super sweet and welcoming piece to the story. Sadly as the school year comes to an end the fear of going home sets in. Neither knowing what to expect yet hoping they can see each other and relish in the happiness they found. Of course once home we see just how dark and controlling Harper's parents are. It was heartbreaking to read about her life and I was so happy that Cole was determined to keep his word and be there for Harper. There were some close calls and some heartbreaking realizations but in the end they found happiness and peace !!
Wow! I love E. A. Weston! She writes great stories and Finding Forever pulled me in from the start. I love Cole and Harper who are opposites but they have great chemistry.
Both are in trouble with the law and now have to go to a special school. This school is like a prison but the students make it work.
Cole and sharper make it work and I don’t want to give to much away. Go get this book! You will fall in love with Cole and Harper.
Ok so Cole is really a great guy. He's got his self into a little trouble that's how he meets Harper. She's got herself into a lot of trouble. All this trouble is the best thing that has ever happens to them both. I love the best friend Ryan. Hope to see his book next a d hope like crazy it Roxanne. Now all that being said the time line felt a little off in the beginning and the end well I wanted more from it. But I hope it ends that way so there can be a book two.
After a night of drinking and a lot of mistakes, Harper Collings' parents send her to Sunshine Estates, a facility for troubled teens. She just wants to do her time and be free from her parents and all the pain at home. She really doesn't expect to meet Cole Kennedy. After lashing out against his football coach/father, Cole Kennedy is sent away to Sunshine Estates. With only the support of his best friend, Ryan, Cole just wants to finish his sentence and leave the hell he calls home. But meeting Harper Collings changes everything. After spending time together and getting to know each other, Harper and Cole's bond seem indestructible. But what will happen when they are finally released from Sunshine Estates? Will Cole and Harper find their freedom together? Will they save each other?
Finding Forever intrigued me with its blurb and hooked me from the first page. It took me in a rollercoaster ride of emotions and I don't regret one second of it. Harper's and Cole's stories made me cry and feel sad and angry for them. Their story really touched me. But their banter was very funny, giving the book the necessary airiness. I really loved how their relationship developed and the dual POV. Why not five stars? I just wished there was more justice. Harper deserved more.
Harper Collings is a seventeen year old girl and she's been through hell. She makes a lot of mistakes trying to numb herself from the pain, but she's a very sweet and kind girl. She's very strong when she needs and she shows it in the end. From the outside, Cole Kennedy looks like the typical football player, popular, with the girlfriend cheerleader. But he's tormented by an abusive father. All he has is his best friend and football. He's very sweet and gentle, but also very strong and stands up for himself and for the ones he loves. He made me swoon a lot.
This is my first book by E.A. Weston and she did not disappoint! Finding Forever is an amazing book with a heartbreaking story and perfectly flawed characters. She makes it very easy to connect with the story and its characters. I can't wait to read Ryan and Roxanne's story and more about Harper and Cole!
This was a story, a story that had such a horrible beginning, but when two people meet some things that have been unbearable can almost seem bearable to be able to move on. This book has so much love in it, but also so much pain, that you will have tears in your eyes as you read chapter after chapter. Your heart will break. You will never become whole in this book. The more you fall in love with these characters, the more you will see their pain. This book will put you through the ringer and all you will want is more. More is what you will get also. This is a trilogy so we will be getting two more books and I can only hope they will be as good as this first one.
Harper is a troubled girl. Not only troubled but her home life is just as bad. She gets herself in a mess of a trouble and gets her self stuck in a school that keeps her from everything and everyone. Harper is very troubled, not because of her being out of control, but also what her parents are doing to her. This place they sent her to, is suppose to be torture, but it maybe her saving grace. Harper is strong, stronger than she knows and what she has to go through constantly no one should have to that struggle. Cole issues are just as bad as Harper. Only he decides to take it into his own hands and ends himself in the same place as Harper. Neither want to be have friends they just want to get through the months until they get out. But the more they are there the more they found out about each other and brings them closer than the never expected so what will happen when they get out.
There is so much I would love about this book. There are so many details that I have left out because if you read this you would never get what you needed from this book. Cole is such a strength in this book. He not only stands up for himself, but he also takes care of Harper when she needs it. He is the back bone of this book and I can only imagine what would have happened if Cole was not around. He is a hero, not a super hero, but one that is there throughout everything and won't let anything happen to Harper or anyone else. Harper is lost and will need Cole more than ever but will it be enough for her to survive.
This is the first book of this series and I loved it. Now with that being said, we won't find out more about Harper and Cole in the next one it is going to be the other couple that is in this book and that will be great, but I hate waiting. I just want more. Loved this so much and I can't wait.
Harper Collings has had it bad her parents are supper religious and she wants to break free. Cole has been living a secret life that has him starting to crumble around him . When they get sent to Sunset Estates, where they find out what is the best for them and within that find themselves and love This is a story where the characters are flawed but so well written . Harper is a young woman who is trying to break away from her parents that are over controlling and just want to keep her locked away . She comes off as a b with an itch but underneath she is a sweet , caring girl . Who just wants to have a love that will protect her and cherish her . She starts out naive but trying to put on a tough exterior . We do get to see her grow as a person as we see her through out the book . Cole seems to have it all football star and has a great friends . He is damaged though he is hiding a secret that might stop him from his future. They are train wrecks but when they get together they seem to make each other better and help heal each other This is a book where you have to sit down and get comfy to read .This is more then a teen romance book . There is a deeper meaning behind the book . The author takes us on a very emotional journey . There is alcohol dependency , abuse and so much more that is going on , The way the author has these two characters come together is sweet. They really help each other out . This is a book that will have you getting all the feels . You will laugh and cry and cheer for them . There were moments in the book that in my opinion that kind of dragged just a little and felt a little slow but over all I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read book two . So if you want a book that will give you all the feels check it out.
Going into this after reading the synopsis I was a bit iffy. Just from the synopsis, I was thinking along the lines of a cliche teenage drama romance. While there is the drama and romance, I have to admit the issues are anything but you're typical teenage problems. Harper Collings and Cole Kennedy meet when they are both forced to attend Sunshine Estates by their parents to help with their acting out problems. When they first meet Harper is so hardened by her life that she's determined to keep everyone out and unfortunately to do that she's built a shell around herself and uses sarcasm as a way to keep people from getting to close. This includes the new jock who only arrives a few hours after her. But outside appearances can hide many problems a person may be going through. For Cole Kennedy, his life may seem perfect, but his home life is anything but. Inside Sunshine Estates Harper may have set out not wanting to make any ties, but in the end Cole is the one person she can fully trust and he may be the only one who can save her.
Harper comes from a life that all she has seen is violence, hate, disapproval, misunderstanding and distrust. But trying to find someway to give her something different ends up with her parents sending her to Sunshine Estates School. I guess you could call it a school for troubled teens. Cole has a father who abuses him and after another time of it happening, Cole snaps and gives his father the same thing that he has been getting . He ends up beating his dad so much that Cole ends up in Sunshine Estates. Two completely different people find each other during one of the worst times in there lives. But what will become of them, will this or won't this lead to something more, and who will get hurt. Reading this makes a person cry about the lives of Harper and Cole. But to find out what happens to them as the book goes on , you have to read it yourself. A wonderful read with so many emotions that pull a person into the book
Harper and Cole meet when they are forced to go into the same prison like school after getting into trouble. They are two lost souls coming from bad experiences, who end up connecting from their situations, even though they're complete opposites. And that connection quickly develops into deeper feelings of first love. And that's all I'm giving away. Finding Forever is a YA romance that definitely gives off serious feels. Especially when it deals with serious topics of addiction and abuse, which plagues so many teenagers today. It's fast paced, with the cast of secondaries adding more depth as well. E.A. Weston's talented writing style shines with this story, especially with the big part of the story portraying a relationship of unconditional love & support when the chips are down. I cannot wait to read the next book, and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This is the first book in a trilogy, and what a fantastic start this is! Harper and Cole have both suffered, and even though they are total opposite, these lost souls are drawn to each other. This is a fast paced story, which is emotional, heartbreaking, and sweet, has secrets, and is about unconditional love and support, as well as dealing with abuse and addiction. This author has written a powerful and captivating story, which had me hooked from the very beginning, and I cannot wait to read the next book.
Finding Forever answers the question: what would a soap opera written by John Green be like? A few parts were unrealistic but it's fiction so that can slide, particularly because it's compelling enough to read in a single sitting. There should probably be a trigger warning for abuse listed in the synopsis and also needs an edit/proofread.
This book was heartbreaking and beautiful. I’m so glad that there are two more books to come. I was instantly drawn to Cole and Harper. I know other readers will be as well.
What an amazing story the author has created in the story of Harper and Cole. Two damaged teenagers who for different reasons end up at a home for troubled Teena. This story hits all the feels! Fast paced and keeps you hooked. Thank god there are two more books in this series
Cole and Harper have both had it hard but in different ways in their lives, but they both end up at the same detention school for young adults, Cole is drawn to Harper but keeps getting shut down by her until finally she gives him a chance , these two usually would both have had a chance with each other but fate works in a different way
