Rate this book
This book is about Financial statement analysis, and it has been designed to give users a step by step detailed approach on analysing financial statements in the various industries professionally.

Financial statement analysis is comprised of analysing the annual reports; which are the comprehensive reports of the company’s business activities in the preceding year. The intention of the annual reports is to provide the information about the business activities and the financial performance of the company to the shareholders and other groups who may be interested.

Most companies are required by the jurisdictions to prepare and disclose the annual reports, and many of which are required to file the annual reports at the company’s registry. The more frequent interval of the reports is required if the company is listed on the stock exchange, depending on the guidelines of the stock exchange the company is involved in.

The reports include details, which are of use to the investors to gain a better understanding of the company financial position and the future decisions. The financial statements are usually prepared and produced in compliance with the IFRS alongside with the domestic GAAP and legislations such as companies house or the SOX in the U.S.

In the U.S., there is a more complicated version of the report, which is known as the Form 10-K, this is required to be submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The publicly held companies may also issue a more limited version of an annual report, called the “warp report”.
