Una historia donde un arqueólogo encuentra los supuestos huesos de Jesucristo, tendría que ser muy polémico, sin embargo me gustó mucho cómo manejaron el argumento dentro de este libro.

Si bien se asume que es el esqueleto de Jesús, nunca se confirma, el autor se basó más en todo lo que ocurrió tanto para sacarlo a la luz como para ocultarlo que en la "polémica" en sí.

De lo que más disfruté fueron las pláticas entre el cardenal (Michael) y el arqueólogo (Harris) son sumamente interesantes, exponiendo dos puntos de vista distintos y muy ricos, cada uno en su contexto.

El final de Jennifer me dio mucha pena, pero creo que le faltó lo que Copeland sí tuvo: fe. Me encantó su postura: aunque no dudó que esos huesos fueran los restos de Jesús, su fe nunca se vio afectada.

Es un libro relativamente corto y muy fácil de leer. Recomendado.

I remember reading this years ago. My grandma gave it to me. The characters represent some sin or other, and there are good simbolism and debate, but the novel itself didn't seem to work as a story. I guess Templeton forgot that you have to be entertaining first, besides everything else. I'm literally using the hardcover to make my little monitor a little higher.

First read this book back in the 80s and enjoyed it tremendously. I'm not a religious person but found the story of an archeologist possibly finding the bones of Jesus Christ fascinating. A Cardinal from the Catholic Church finds out about it and determines the discovery could possibly bring down the Catholic Church as we know it and decides to take action.

This was a very random pickup from the free bin outside a bookstore, but one that was surprisingly good.

The plot may sound like Dan Brown, but the writing is nothing like. This is no fast-paced speed-written thriller designed to keep you reading (and not thinking) till the very end; this is a novel with thoughtful protagonists, who choose each step of the way very deliberately. It may not result in their desired aim, but there are no fools rushing in. The characters were well-defined, and very real in sense.

A good old-fashioned read.

A book written in the 1970's and today might be compared to Dan Brown's books bout the papacy and what happens in the back rooms. It's a well-written book but certainly dated. I was curious because of the background and in comparison. I guess I'm more interested in the subject because I was raised a Catholic and so had some insight in the way the Church works and its history.

Act of God started out very slow- a two star book, but then it picked up some traction and moved to three. It got more intriguing as it developed and moved to four stars. At almost the end, I was contemplating five stars, yet it then ended with so many unanswered questions that it eventually slipped back to two stars. Some good dialogue and debates that happen throughout that all stem from one what if question, yet ultimately it failed to wrap up anything at all and or go anywhere. I was lost at the end. So disappointing.
