He worked as a Park Ranger for the National Park Service at Little Bighorn and studied the battle grounds in person, later his research on the topic encouraged him to share his findings with the public. His research has uncovered and coordinated findings that shed more light on the battle participants and the battle's place in the History of the Western Frontier and the Sioux War of 1876. He graduated with Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Science and worked as a Wildlife Biologist for State and Federal agencies but Western History and Western literature have been his avocation during his working years. His father, Ormond, was a great Western Historian and infl uenced the author in his studies. He has published over sixty articles for scientific journals and general interest magazines such as Outdoor Life and Gun Week among others. He lives in Eastern Washington State with his childhood bride of 45 years, Micky, where he is writing a book about his childhood in Genesee, Idaho and one on the Indian Wars of the period 1850 through 1865.
