It was ok but not impressive. I feel a little disappointed because the blurb was interesting but I dont feel like thats what I got. It really wasnt all the funny...more like that annoying humor that not everyone understands. Dont get me wrong it was cute in some parts but when I started to read it I felt I was missing something. Like perhaps it was from another series or something. Considering its book 1 that wasnt the case. Both Felicia and Christoph were ok characters but meh nothing spectacular about them. Had some annoying traits like jumping to conclusions on both ends. I am not sure if I've read this authors work before I think I have but not positive. I think I need some history of this town which we dont get. More about the characters we came across which we dont get either. Feels unfinished but it does end on a HEA. Disappointing to say the least in some ways. Sorry.

This is a laugh-out-loud funny story that I couldn’t put down. The characters are interesting, and likable; I really enjoyed getting to know them.. I hated to see the story end I was enjoying it so much. I look forward to reading more in this series.

I received a copy of this book from the author, my review has been voluntarily submitted.

I listened to the audio book read by Traci Odom and she did a great job of distinguishing each character. This was a fun romantic mystery with a touch of family angst and humor. I will be reading the next one, too. I got this copy through Hoopla from my public library.

The Vampire’s Last Dance by Deanna Chase is the first full length novel in Witch Island Brides. Felicia Patterson is a florist on Witch Island. She is working on a special request for Bianca when she encounters Christoph Parks. His smile makes her hear skip a beat (and sets her body on fire) but, thanks to her cousin’s curse, she knows that a future with him (or any man) is impossible. That night at Witchin’ Impossible Bianca catches her fiancé, Jasper enjoying the delights of another female after she was attacked by one of the strippers. Bianca calls off the wedding and Jasper threatens to sue Felicia if she does not get the wedding back on track (how is this her fault). The common denominator between the two incidents is the witch, Lemon. Christoph and Felicia team up to find Lemon and get the wedding back on track. The time together will give Felicia and Christoph a chance to get to know each other and explore their attraction. Will they succeed in their mission?

The Vampire’s Last Dance is a humorous and steamy paranormal romance. It is nicely written and has a steady pace. The Vampire’s Last Dance is a short read since it is only 152 pages. This book is different from Deanna Chase’s other works. It is a light-hearted paranormal romance with enough sparks to set your book on fire. There is a scene at the beginning that will have you chortling. I never would have thought of such unique bachelorette bouquets. I liked the world the author created on Witch Island. You will never think of bingo again without grinning. I wish there had been an epilogue to find out what happens with Felicia and Christoph. The Vampire’s Last Dance has mystery, vampires, witches, a curse, magic, humor, flirtation, unique characters and so much more. Come along for the journey in The Vampire’s Last Dance to find out what happens with Bianca, Jasper, Christoph and Felicia.

There was a bunch of laugh out loud moments in this book. I just love Felicia. She has a lot of spunk. I don't think anyone else could have stayed strong like she did in the situations that came up. She has a curse on her that keeps her from finding love. Christoph is the HOT vampire in town for his BFF and brothers wedding. You see sparks flying from the very beginning. It seems they are going to be great together through out the book. That was fine by me.I was rooting for them to finally find sexy time. Felicia needs to find that cousin who put that curse on her. While also finding the person who is ruining Christoph's BFF and brothers wedding. It is a whirlwind adventure. I was sucked in from the beginning of this book. I look forward to learning more about Witch Island and all they have to offer.

"The Vampire's Last Dance" is book one in the "Witch Island Brides" series by Deanna Chase. Felicia has been cursed to have bad luck when it comes to relationships and love. Christoph is a vampire who is visiting for a wedding. The opening scene had me cracking up so hard I had tears in my eyes. Felicia is the Islands florist and is doing the flowers for a wedding. Christoph just happens to be there when she is having issues with the arrangements. My favorite scene was the recycle center scene. I am really enjoying Deanna's books. I have enjoyed each of the books that I have read.

The return of a long lost love, mystery, some wacky characters, mysterious goings-on, betrayal. romance and a few paranormals. The book kept my attention from the start and I look forward to reading the rest of the series. Thanks again Deanna Chase!

More so a 3.5 star. Probably would be a 4 star if I read instead of listened to on Spotify. Great listen for spooky season and was surprised how much I liked it! I wasn’t the biggest fan of the voice person but I still enjoyed the story. Chapter 13 😳😳😳.

A very sweet story

Two likeable people made this a very sweet read and although predictable the easy flow proved a very enjoyable time out.

I wanted an easy listen while I worked. This was that. This was also rather forgettable. After one day I had to go back and read the summary to remember what this was about.

Ok, so let's start with the positives:

1. I liked the storyline.

2. It was a good, easy read and an enjoyable style.

What I didn't like:

For me, there was just too much sexual reference in the first half of the book. I know that sounds prudish, but let me explain. There are some comedians who can make anything funny, from riding a horse to hanging out the washing. There are some comedians who can only ever tell crude, gutter jokes, and after a while, you start wishing they'd branch out with their humour because they are no longer funny.

Anyway, I was starting to think Deanna Chase was an author version of one of those comedians. She was trying to get the story going in a funny way, but couldn't think of any way that didn't involve sexual references.

We start the book with our heroine (Fe) making bouquets with vibrators as the centrepiece. Naturally, we then get a series of exchanges between our hero (Chris) and Fe about those vs the real thing and inserting them properly. Then we get this elderly witch who is a little starved for male attention, and she takes one look at Chris and decides she wants to take him home for the night. When he says he is actually going out with Fe the witch starts hurling insults at Fe.

Then the bride turns up and we get a few more comments about vibrators and then she invites Fe to the strip club for the bachelorette party, so we get some comments about that.

Then we get the strip club and another string of inevitable comments. Things briefly get interesting, but then we have a scene where a vibrator turns on and goes flying through the air, lodges itself in the right part of Fe's anatomy and leaves her a little excited. So then the bride makes comments about how Fe looks ready to go home with anyone.

Then we get the groom (vampire) sucking the blood of another woman (equivalent to kissing another woman) and we hear that the woman in question tried to win a wealthy groom of someone else by jumping into their bed naked and waited for them.

Then Fe ends up passed out and Chris has to undress her because she fell into mud, so we get all of his internal dialogue during that process. I expect that in a book and wouldn't mind at all, but by then it was yet another scene about something sexual.

Then they head off to find a missing witch and we end up at bingo, but it can't just be bingo. It has to be strip bingo. And on top of that we get a scene where an old lady stands up to shout bingo and her pants fall down so she moons everyone and we get conversations about the enjoyment, or lack thereof, of her bottom.

It gets more into the storyline then, and there isn't any more need for sexual fillers, but that was half-way through the book and by then it was all a bit much. It ceased to be funny or clever. I wanted Chase to show me she could be funny without sexual references, but I don't think she can.

I would like to read another of her books, but I'm not sure if I can cope.

The book is a light, easy read, definitely a potato chip read. It never delves too deep into the minds or motivations of the characters, nor does it extend too much into the world building of Witch Island. The characters are cliched, all of them beautiful and perfect, but there's a healthy dose of humour and some quirky side characters. The male lead is a bit disturbingly 180 in his emotions and attitude towards the female lead early in the book, but joins her "quest" willingly and we don't see that again.

Short fun read but no depth.
Pleasantly entertaining short free read.
Likeable characters with a fun simple plot. Didn’t make me laugh out loud as it was at times a bit over the top.
Felt it was lacking background explanation about Christoph’s past love life failures. When he spoke about another woman always being in his life I thought it was someone else, not Bianca.
All just seemed to wrap up with little discussion but lots of sex.

Steamy, quirky and fun

What a great new concept for a storyline. I immediately was engrossed in the comical sexual innuendos and the plot concept. The book was a quick read , light hearted, and left me wanting to see where the next book goes.

There were times I laughed out loud when I was reading. Felicia is preparing for a vampire wedding. When a couple of potions cause problems a few nights before the wedding, Felicia needs to do what she can to get the wedding back on track. I enjoyed the flirting between Felicia and Christoph.

Light hearted romance with expected ending. I liked the world created in this book. One steamy love scene that can be read or skipped

I tend to write long reviews so there is a short and a long version. The long version may include spoilers and is hidden under the spoiler tag.

Short Version: Childish, juvenile characters coupled with a thin plot. The writing is vulgar and the sexual pratfalls ridiculous. The story had potential but it was smothered in crude sexual references that made it impossible to enjoy. I'm not a prude but things went too far with this book. I'm disappointed in the book and the author for going there.

This is not a clean read. There is sex and curse words. There is very little actual romance.

I have three major problems with this novella.

One, the humor does not amuse me. I don't find sex-based humor at all offensive as a general category, but I do require it to be funny, and not just slapstick, crude, or juvenile. Nothing in this book made me laugh.

Two, our heroine never had any sensible motivations for her actions. The plot is driven by her helping people she barely knows for no real reason; she constantly gets distracted from what she "should" be doing by how hot her would-be vampire boyfriend is, so she's not even very successful at helping for most of the story; and her own personal obstacle (the curse) is ignored until the very end, when fixing the problems of the people she barely knows also conveniently solves her problem as well.

The hero's motivation for hanging around is painfully obvious at all times--he wants to get in the heroine's pants, and never gets more motivation (or personality) than that. But at least his motivation makes sense in context. He even asks her at one point why she's going out of her way for someone she's only just met, so it's not like the author wasn't aware of how thin this plot was, it just got lampshaded instead of solved.

Problem three could be broken down into two issues, but I feel they're closely related. The world-building is shoddy, and the overall pace of the story is too fast. These two factors combined to make me feel like this wasn't a first-in-series book, like I should have already known most of this stuff (like how magic and curses worked, which was never really explained) and at least half the characters, many of whom are introduced as names with no description or relationships attached (I saw "Jonathon" at least twice before the narrative finally told me he was Chad's boyfriend, only I barely knew who Chad was either, for example.) I never felt grounded. It all felt very soap-opera-ish, with a large cast of thin characters doing silly/stupid/over-the-top things for the drama of it, and for no other reason.

This is the first book in a new series . I was so excited to see that this author has written a new series and I couldn't wait to dive into it . Let me introduce you to Felicia Patterson a witch and a magical florist on Witch Island . Who has been cursed and is resigned to the fact that she will never ever find her true love . Until the day Christoph Parks walks into her shop and her life . Will they come together or will the family and the curse get in their way .
I truly liked this book , it is a different turn for this author . She takes us on a fun filled ride . The characters are well written and you will fall in love with them . Felicia is such a fun character . She is a florist that loves her job and loves bringing happiness to the people that come to witch island to wed . But she is also sad and hiding her pain of the fact that she will never marry . When push comes to shove though she shows us what she is truly made of and what it takes to stop the attacks from happening . She ends up being a kick butt heroine. Christoph is a hot sexy vampire who is a fix it guy . Trying to keep his best friend and his brothers wedding on the right path. He is sexy and confidant but also hiding some pain . He has been burned by love and doesn't want to find it again. As you read you see him through out the book relaxing and having a good time with the young florist . You see him slowly letting Felicia in. Together they are fun and sexy and will have you laughing all the way through the book
This is more of a novella length then the authors other books . I love novellas for a quick fun read, which this one is . The author takes us on a fun filled romp that will keep you reading all night long . There is a scene at the beginning of the book that had me spitting tea it was so funny. Now those would be the best bouquets for a bachelorette party ever . This is the lighter side for this author . It is funnier and lighter then her other books . The only thing I wish it was just a little longer so we could see the love blossom more between Christoph and Felicia . Other then that I loved this book and can't wait for the rest of the books that will come out for this series .

I had to listen to this cozy, slow burn, paranormal romance for spooky season. This novella is very fast-paced with mystery and a little bit of spice at the end.

The witch, Felicia, runs a florist shop on an island that is a popular paranormal wedding destination. She is creating a sex toy bouquet for a vampire’s bachelorette party when Christoph walks into her shop. Christoph is the best man and brother of the vampire groom. Next thing you know, Felicia has a date with this handsome vampire and is also invited to the bride's bachelorette party. The event takes a turn for the worse when the bride catches her groom, drinking the blood of a witch and inevitably calls off the wedding. The groom, Jasper, now threatens Felicia to find the whereabouts of the witch who cursed him into drinking her blood. Running around the island in search of the witch, Lemon, with Christoph was not the date that Felicia had hoped for; however, it wouldn't matter either way considering Felicia is cursed never to find love.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Traci Odom. I thought she was a great narrator for this particular story and played the role of Felicia well. I found some events that happened in this story rather ridiculous, but it was entertaining for the most part. I love when a story is unpredictable, and I definitely would not have guessed the outcome with the witch, Lemon.

magic • novella • paranormal romance • slow burn • spicy • vampire • witches

This is the start of a new series for this talented author! The Vampire’s Last Dance is Book 1 of the Witch Island Brides series, and I loved reading it!

Felicia Patterson is a witch who was cursed by another to never find the love of her life. Christoph Parks is a handsome vampire who has sworn off women after being hurt once too often. He comes to the island, where Felicia has a flower shop, for his brother’s wedding. When he meets Felicia, the two are attracted to each other. Will they try to break the curse on Felicia? Will they be able to get Christoph’s best friend, the bride, and his brother, the groom, back together again so that they can get married as planned? Or will the cancelled wedding plans cause Felicia to lose her flower business with the devastating financial loss on the orchids?

This book is humorous and emotional. It will grab hold of the reader and not let go to the very end! The characters are great and will definitely win you over! Grab a copy and get started with this new series! I have never been disappointed in this author’s books yet – you can always count on an excellent story!

Read it last month but honestly don't remember it well. That happens when you read as many books as I do! I think it was enjoyable, although sometimes a bit far-fetched. I will read the second one to see how that goes.

so here's the recap from Amazon:

Recently I discovered author Deanna Chase and starting by reading her Witches of Keating Hollow series, since I have discovered a few other series by the author. When I find an author that writes a compelling story that pulls me in, then I am likely to continue reading everything I can get my hands on by that author.

Witch Island is a small paranormal community where the rest of the paranormal world comes to get married. That makes Felicia's flower shop busy, what with bridal shower flowers, bachelorette party flowers and wedding flowers there is always something going on as was the case on this day. Felicia was making bouquets for the bachelorette party when the most handsome man walks in, but Felicia has a cursed life making him off limits to her, or so she thinks.

When the bride-to-be and the groom-to-be get hit with curses, its up to Felicia to save the wedding, and in the process she just might save herself and find a new outlook on life
