Playing Me

I’m not your knight in shining armor, we both know that. But this between us? It’s real, I know you feel it too.

Archer

I love it when they scream my name. Crowds, paparazzi, women. They all give me what I want, the money and the fame. When I have an itch to scratch it's not hard to find a woman just begging me to show her my skills off stage.

Did I earn a sleazy reputation in the process? Sure - but ask me if I give a sh*t. If my father taught me anything it's that women are all the same - it's better to use them than be used by them. But this one... why is she starting to make me wonder if she's different than the rest? Maybe I need to throw her in my bed and find out for myself...

Corinne

My father may have left us dirt poor and struggling when he died, but he was a gifted musician and I'm going to live the dream he left unfinished. Being signed to a major record label is the first step - but I never imagined they'd want to launch my career by putting me in a fake relationship with rockstar Archer Evans for publicity. They want to make me a somebody while fixing his bad boy reputation. A reputation he deserves.

We may be faking it for the cameras, but the way he looks at me when we're alone is far from an act. He wants me, he's made that obvious, but I know better than to agree to one night with Archer. He's trouble and I won't let myself forget it, no matter how tempting he is with his angel voice and devil smile.

Playing Me is a steamy standalone romance with no cheating and no cliffhanger from highly rated author Jenny Lynn.

Archer has it all – he’s a famous rock star, gets a different woman every night and the money that goes along with it. Archer is known for to be a bad boy and get into mischief. Even with everything he has in life, he doesn’t escape the pain of losing the one person who believed in him and heard his first song he wrote at the age of seven. Corrine is following her dream on continuing her father’s wish of writing, singing and playing songs. She takes on gigs in nightclubs just to get herself heard. She gets lucky one night when a record label executive is in the audience and hears her. She makes an appointment to meet with him and they would like to sign her. The only stipulation is that she is supposed to date Archer to help clean up his image and launch her career. Corrine thinks Archer is cocky and arrogant. She has no plans to be just another notch on his bedpost. She puts on an act when they are out in public together that they like each other. But then the heat eventually begins to heat up. One of Corrine’s friends come between Archer and her. Archer doesn’t understand and won’t let Corrine explain the circumstances. Eventually Corrine writes Archer a letter expressing how she felt about him. Archer begins to realize that he is in love with her. They reunite at her first concert and perform a duet together.

The author did a great job at making you feel what the characters were feeling. It is heartfelt and you feel the strength of the characters coming through. The buildup of the relationship kept me reading and not wanting to finish!! Loved it!

Bad boy rock star and struggling good girl musician. Their lives collide in 'Playing Me'.

Corinne has finally got her break and been discovered after years of hard work. However in order to finally make it big she has to pretend to be Archer's girlfriend to repair his image. What starts out as fake becomes real very quickly.

Archer started off cocky and arrogant in pretty much everything but this is very much a mask to hide his vulnerability. As he lets this slip he does grow on you. Corinne is so sweet and kind that you can't help but worry that the music industry is going to eat her up and spit her back out again.

This was a good book, full of music, contradictions and being true to yourself. Great writing and characters that draw you into their story.

Archer is a star and he’s about to do his last show of this tour before a break and back to the studio. He’s tired and women are there for just one night that’s all he ever gives. Corinne is a talented singer and tonight she met someone who can take her to the next level. So off she goes with him to talk about her career and watch Archer and his band perform, Scott is their manager too. Right from their first meeting Archer and Corinne felt the chemistry but Archer had a terrible reputation. To Archer this felt like a challenge and he was getting that cookie. Both Archer and Corinne share a little sadness that shaped them into who they are, I like watching their walls come down. I also liked Archer falling hard. This was really a beautiful love story and I’m giving it five stars. I highly recommend it and I’d love to read about Billy next, he sounds so cute.

I loved it! The characters had great chemistry and I really felt the love they had for one another. I read th story on one sitting, I couldn’t put it down. It was an emotional rollercoaster that kept me fully engaged. It was a hate to love relationship that pulled at my heartstrings. This is the first time I’ve read this author and I enjoyed her writing plus the story was wonderful. I’m looking forward to reading more by the author. I received an Exclusive ARC for an honest review.

Corinne and Asher were so great together and had music in common. A good romance that you will enjoy. No cliffhanger.

I seem to always be a sucker for the reluctant arranged relationship theme but add in the rock star element and it's definitely a good time!

Great characters, great storyline, great writing. It was hard to put down.

I really liked this book! I had a good time and would definitely recommend it. I think I found a new author to follow!

Really good book.

I like it. A rocker romance with a bad boy who meets a musician, who is a sexy and strong woman makes for a great story.

The advance copy I read of this book is my first by this author and I loved it! Jenny Lynn has a great writing style, easily drawing the reader in with an engaging storyline and endearing, redeemable characters. Archer has it all as a famous rock star – fame, fortune, and a different woman every night. But all the distractions in his life don’t ease the pain from losing the one person who believed in him and his talent from the very first song he wrote when he was seven years old. Corinne is just beginning her music career, following a dream that bloomed from listening to her father play the guitar and sing. She takes any gig, no matter how small, playing her father's guitar and wishing he were still alive to hear her music. When the record label wants to sign her and then decides that her “dating" Archer would not only clean up his playboy reputation but help launch her career, things get interesting. She despises his cocky arrogance and is determined she won’t be another one of his bimbos, but she’ll do her best to pretend she can tolerate him when they’re together in public.

Jenny Lynn is a fresh, new voice in the romance genre and definitely an author to watch. Her writing is captivating, entertaining, emotional and easy to read and the characters were clearly defined, complex and vivid, with just enough vulnerability that had me cheering them on as the relationship grew. I appreciate the author's discernment in developing Archer's character by explaining what a dog he was rather than spelling it all out for the reader to wade through. For me as a reader, there’s nothing worse than having to read the details of a hero's indiscriminate sexual exploits, and then expecting me to like him, much less fall in love with him. Ugh! With the loss he suffered and his despicable father, Asher ended up being very easy to love, as did Corinne, with her pure heart, touch of innocence, inner strength and determination as she pursued her dream. And together they were phenomenal! I could easily see this book being the start of a series, because there were several other characters who had promise and were intriguing, and I wasn’t ready to let any of them go by the end of the book. Take a chance on Jenny Lynn by reading this book, and then keep your eye on her. I anticipate many more great books from her!
