He's my best friend. He's a player... And now, he wants me in his bed.

Charlie Hartley is the thing that addictions are made of. At least that's what I've heard from the parade of desperate women who've gone through his bedroom's revolving door.

Brash and unapologetic, tattooed and insanely handsome. I'm sure there's a Charlie Addicts Anonymous meeting taking place somewhere in the great state of Illinois as we speak.

I've become really good at keeping him at arm’s length and keeping my silly crush under control. After all, it's a skill I've been perfecting since the first time he stood up to a bully for me back in the 8th grade.

But when he offers to escort me to my 83-year-old grandmother's wedding, I start seeing him in a new light. Maybe there's more to him than that smoking hot body and those playful, flirtatious eyes.

Now, we're growing closer, crossing lines, shattering boundaries. I've strutted out of the friend zone and straight into his bed.

But that's perfectly fine because I'm a tough girl. I can manage a juvenile, little crush. And there's no chance that a guy like Charlie will start catching feelings for me.

One drunken night of hot sex won't change our friendship... Will it?

DNF

Sharon and I are definitely not at risk of bumping uglies at any point in the future. We immediately got that mess out of our systems when she started working for me three years ago. We were upfront with each other about our mutual attraction and handled it like adults—with a vigorous doggie-style session bent over the fax machine.

She's standing so close that she has to tip her head back to look at me. "You smell like sex." Her nose twitches. I run my hand over my short hair. "Just got in," I say with a sheepish grin.

And besides, I'm young, I'm attractive, I'm successful in my trade. What’s the point in depriving myself?

As I’m pulling my tank top over my head, I hear Giselle whisper loudly, “Duh! For a guy like Charlie Hartley, you’ve got to bring your A-game!”  My movements stutter as the words land right in my gut. She continues. “He said I have the best gag reflex northeast of Chicago.” The pride and accomplishment in the girl’s voice is absolutely pathetic.

“Have a good evening, Nova.”  I throw her a withering glance. “Same to you. Have fun perfecting that gag reflex.” Her jaw drops as I stomp out the door.

I shouldn’t have fucked Helena and that decision, like so many others, is coming back to haunt me.

Ooooh I love this book. It's a fun steamy sweet easy read and I finished it in one sitting.
A Friends to Lovers romance. A playboy met his match, oh yes this one surely have amazing banter and of course it has interesting story, plot and drama and hotness.
This is the kind of book that makes me fall in love from the first chapter.

As for characters, I love Nova and Charlie, although I want to smack some senses to them most of the time, these are loveable characters, I can't not root for them from the beginning.
These two got me frustrating, got me laugh and put a big smile on my face. I really really love their banter and their chemistry.

If you love sweet romance read, if you love friends to lovers, you need to try this book.

OH.EM.EF.GEE! Charlie Hartley.....swoon!

Charlie, Reese's (Lover Boy) brother , former military and construction company owner and well known manwhore. Nova, Reese's BFF, multi-talented and working a crappy waitressing job and also a friend to Charlie. Charlie has always had a thing for Nova and vise versa but you aren't supposed to cross those lines. But, as Charlie puts it, Nova is now his best friend because his sister, Reese, took his (Leo). When Nova gets an invite to her grandmother's wedding Charlie offers up to escort her. AND, the kicker, is that Nova's grandmother is in the "Dirty" series in Reyfield, IL....giddy doesn't even describe it. Ok, back to the book. One thing leads to another and Charlie and Nova kiss and it's on!

This is my favorite quote from Nova's mother, Cleo...lol!!! "Everybody's just a friend until your queefing on his chin in a parked car behind a gas station off of Cumber Street". This totally floors Nova and kind of creeped her out at the same time.

There are so many feels in this book. Swoon, sigh, love, swoon, someone needs a throat punch, swoon, sigh....ya get the picture.

This book is a total must read. But, please, for the love of all things holy, read Lover Boy first.

I absolutely love Cassie-Ann's writing even when she doubts herself....because pure gold baby!!

This was such a sweetly intense friends-to-lovers romance! Charlie and Nova both try to resist their growing attraction to each other, and for the same reason: neither one trusts that Charlie can be a one-woman man. Lucky for us, their undeniable chemistry takes a starring role in this book.

As Charlie starts to think about a future with Nova, he gives his heart permission to consider all the what-if's and what-could-be's. Nova, on the other hand, isn't willing to take the risk. She knows that once she gives Charlie her heart, she'll never get it back again.

This beautiful story delves into both main characters' backgrounds, showing us their losses and how those have affected their current mindsets. There's also quite a lot of the author's trademark humor as the rest of their friends and family put in their two cents about the budding relationship. And, there's a bonus surprise with one of their friends, a secret that will have to be addressed in a future volume of this series.

Play Boy is a perfect follow-up to Lover Boy, and together they're a promising start to this new series. I'm looking forward to reading every installment. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

2 not so much friends to lovers stars!!

I’m all for a playboy/playgirl scenario they can sleep with whomever they want no biggie. Go live your life please practice safety in this day and age. However, when writing in a book it’s one thing to be a player and another to be a bragger. Charlie is a bragger, he flaunts it, he doesn’t care who or practically what he sleeps with and man if that doesn’t rub me the wrong way. He could come back from it for sure and he does mess up in the beginning (no cheating) but it would be unbelievably hard for a couple if your significant other had slept with pretty much the whole town. I get it he wants to be a one-woman man now, and he is changing, and he does in the book and its great, but I couldn’t get over the bragging.

Nova started out as a good character but instead of evolving like Charlie did, she back peddled and I think that was where it took a wrong turn for me. You can only have a conflict where the characters misunderstand each other about something and walk away to resolve it once, not multiple times repeatedly in the same book. It was almost as if she was punishing him for being him. She wanted to be with him even though he had this history, she needed to get over it not him. That got old very quickly and it was very repetitive. I needed her to mature in the book and it didn’t happen until the last 4 percent of the book.

This book had some real stand out lines that I enjoyed, so I see a lot of promise ahead and I think I would try this author again, just definitely not this theme.

“I’m sorry but our meatballs are standard meatiness and there’s really nothing we can do about that.”

“This is just unacceptable.” She pulls her napkin from the collar of her blouse and slaps it down on the table. “This place obviously doesn’t deserve it’s raving reviews!”

“Would you like me to bring you the bill?” AT this point, my tone is all snark.

The customer is not always right. Sometimes the customer is a freaking nut job.

The little woman is fuming. She pushes against the table and rises to her feet. “Donny, let’s go.”

Her tall, wiry husband looks up from his ravioli which he seems to be enjoying by how much of it is sitting on his chin. “But I’m not done, Melinda.” He protests meekly.

“I’ll make you a tuna sandwich when we get home.”

She doesn’t look back. She just grabs her can and wobble-stomps toward the door as her husbands stuffs his face with pasta.

“Donny!” she yells from the exit.

The old man startles and nearly trips over his own feet as he shovels one last bite into his mouth. I give him a sympathetic smile. He nods ruefully then his tall frame toward me and cups around his mouth. “Send help! The woman’s crazy!”

This was just a meh for me, considering how I liked most others by this same author, I was kind of expecting it to be all sparks as I could sense how smitten were they in their mere mentions in other books, but didn't feel that way at all reading it, glad I read a few others earlier else I might have never picked one from the author, this one somehow lacked, it may have some nice things but the loose ends topped them, I tried to connect but was not able to empathize with either of them, their relationship felt so fickle, at one snap they were together then he pulls off a dumb act that will throw any woman for that matter then another snap she's lined up on a lucrative job out of blue, good for her, the timing that employer found her art, then rather than confirming she thinks the employer was pulling an act to lure him, well the H have the vibes of womanizer and then even brags and even acts like a hypocrite, he acts like he's all innocent and charming and he's doing a favour to all bimbos, well nothing wrong for being a male not having multiple casuals but bad mouthing and talking shit like he's any better or innocent, well his past did a number on him, making difficult to trust love but still that doesn't qualify, actually I was not able vibe in with either of them, and then boomb at the end all's fine she has a remote job like what in a quick span and she juggling with all her talents and making good out it, following her dreams, it's good and all but the way how quick quick and unrealistic and over the top things made me not like this one, but hey her other titles are better, if it helps drop this one if you feel the same after reading some but do try her other titles they are nice.

An Awesome Read!!

I absolutely loved reading Play Boy: A Bad Boy Friends-to-Lovers Romance(Blue Collar Bachelors Book 2). All about Charlie Hartley owns Hartley Construction an ex-military man and a one night stand guy & Nova Chester who is twenty-five years old, super creative drawing, playing & writing songs & my baby sisters BFF. Charlie is a player and he has never apologized for it, but lately he has decided he really likes Nova, but he’s afraid to mess things up with his best friend, because what if it doesn’t work out!! He author wrote a story about a young women who has had a difficult life! Her parents had a very messy divorce when she was in middle school and her and her sister are still trying to recover from that hate-fest. Nova s a very creative talented person and she fights for those she loves to the death, so watch out! Read about Charlie & Nova and see if they can go from besties to soul-mates without killing each other!! This is the second book in this series and again I was unable to put it down!! The characters just speak to you, they are intense, passionate and hateful and every other emotion in-between! Read about the Hartley kids and see how adult life is treating them, and their potential spouses along the way!!! This is an incredible series, don’t walk, run and read as these characters come to life between the pages and make you drool, while reading them!!!

I can't say that I really enjoyed this one. The last half is definitely better than the first half. I hated both characters the first half really.

Charlie was a manwhore and the beginning of the book is just way over-the-top with his inner dialogue and explanation of just how big of a manwhore he is. He came off like a jerk and I hated him immediately and almost decided to DNF. But I'm not a quitter, so I kept listening to the book. It wasn't until the second half of the book that I began to understand and like him a bit more. His military history was heartbreaking and it helped explain why he was who he was when it came to relationships.

Then there's Nova. She was insecure and a pushover (especially at work). She was also one who decided communicating wasn't important and she'd rather make assumptions. It was rather annoying to have her constantly in situations where she had to put her foot in her mouth. Had she just asked questions or even listened, she'd have saved herself some self-induced heartache.

There isn't a whole lot to the plot that warrants a 7 hour audio book. I think this could have been shortened to a novella. It was rather boring for me and I was never in a hurry to get back to the book. I'll eventually begin the next book in the series, but so far, this series hasn't been one of my favs.

Side note: Did the author come up with Charlie Hartley because the character Charley Harper (Two and a Half Men) was also someone who slept around and had jilted lovers? 🤔

I LOVED this one!!! Charlie and Nova made a big impact on me in book 1 and it was a joy to see the full extent of their characters in this book. While the denial of feelings they both attempted to keep a lid on was nothing compared to the explosivity when they finally came together. Despite their pasts (and being such good friends for years) they finally both agree to take a chance on each other. The "bumps" in the early going are expected but are actually handled pretty well. His support of Nova has no ulterior motives and he is more genuine than anyone I've read recently. I loved when he opens up to her, but the one thing I would have liked to see is a little more of them dealing with his nightmares. That would have added a little more authenticity to the realism of the characters - not that they weren't authentic. They could have been just about anyone in your town. I think that I love that the most. If you haven't picked up this series, you really should. You don't need to read book 1, but I don;t see why you wouldn't want to.

I didn't like this story very much. h is friends with the H's sister. h is an artist and makes a living from waitressing. H has a construction company and they are friends because of his sister but they have always been attracted to each other. What I didn't like is that h is immature, she's afraid to fall in love, but the author never tell what led to this or i didn't catch it. h has always been attracted to H... but there's something that doesn't quite fit with her attitude... H continually saves her from her day to day life...

Hartley Construction owner and playboy Charlie Hartley can have any woman he wants. Except for the woman he really wants ... the smart, witty and gorgeous Nova ... his little sister's best friend and off-limits. Waitress Nova Chester is stuck in a dead-end job but too scared to follow her dreams. Nova plays it safe with her heart and keeps people at a safe distance ... but isn't immune to the insanely handsome Charlie. Charlie has wanted Nova for a long time and wants to make her his. After lots of convincing, Nova agrees to give Charlie a chance. Things are going great until Nova decides to surprise Charlie at work and sees a woman stripping for him. Nova breaks Charlie's heart when she goes back to just being friends and accepts a new job in New York City. Is this the end for Charlie and Nova?

This was the second book in the Blue Collar Bachelor series, about Charlie and Nova (the brother and best friend of Reece from book one).

To be honest, I wasn't really that intrigued by this couple in the previous book, and had this not been part of the series, I don't think I would have been interested enough to pick this up to read based on the plot. However, I actually ended up really enjoying this. Nova and Charlie were so sweet together, and I loved their easy friendship and the not-so-easy transition to lovers. They had amazing chemistry and I liked the on/off, indecisive nature of their relationship because it really kept me hooked on the story. There were also some funny moments, especially the reoccurring joke about the kneecaps and pinky toe, which I'm equally confused and intrigued by.

This was quite angsty, and I didn't love that they were separated for a chunk of the book, but the ending and epilogues totally made up for it, and I just really enjoyed this couple together. I'm excited to read more in this series soon!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! What a hilarious read :-) I was totally entertained by this book. It is a friends to lovers style read. Charlie and Nova: Nova has had a crush on Charlie since before high school. Because she is bi-racial she was bullied and Charlie would always defend her. As Nova grew up she developed a gift of drawing caricatures and of music. Charlie was a playboy and he and Nova were great friends. He also was her best friends brother, which complicated anything that would develop between them. At the wedding of Nova's grandmother, Charlie was smitten with Nova and knew he wanted more from Nova. She did too, but was it a wise move? As I read the book, it is quick paced and made me laugh out loud so many times. I would quote some passages but it would take up too much space. This is Definitely A MUST READ.

"Anyway, thank you for coming." Edward tightens his grip on his new wife's arm. "What'd you say we go consummate this marriage, honey?" Granny roll her eyes and then brings her laughing gaze to us. "He's all talk. He's about to go fall asleep on the toilet before he manages to take his dentures off."

This is the most happening couple out of all of them.

As for Charlie? I've got women pursuing me every single day. Calling me, texting me, begging me for a little attention. They find my charm irresistible. One smouldering glance and they're down on their knees, ready to follow my instructions."

That's who he is. He's the ultimate womanizer and he's not ashamed of it until it came back and bite his ass.

Do I like this book? If I was to compare with the first, I'm kind of disappointed with how the story flows.

Really Painful to Read

I read the reviews, both 5 and 1 starred, and decided to take a chance on this book. I shouldn’t have stuck with my gut and relied on the 1-star. The only difference in my review is I did finish the book.

As mentioned previously, Charlie goes through new woman on a regular basis. Although you learn later the undertone of why he uses women, it’s a bit overwhelming. He’s womanizing even gets him hung up business wise. Nova, he’s longtime friend, not only knows all this but even hears how other woman discuss their escapades with him. Yet, she falls into being a notch on his bedpost. Then, their relationship changes so quickly the reader gets whiplash. I truly would not recommend reading this book. The reason for the two stars in lieu of one is there were a few points in the book that truly made me laugh out loud.

Nova and Charlie have been friends since childhood. She was his sister’s best friend and he was her protector from bullies. Now they’re closer because his sister has married his best friend and Nova meets that need. Charlie is also a player and Nova pities his conquests, knowing that he is a ‘one & done’ guy. Nova swears that she will never become one of those women. Then she takes Charlie as her plus one to a wedding...and the lines become blurred. Can Charlie give up his player ways and settle down with Nova? Can Nova shed her insecurities and let Charlie into her heart? Loved this friends-to-lovers story and look forward to more in the series.
Narration team was on point and you’re pulled into the story.

There's nothing better than watching a player fall for someone... oh wait... yes there is. When said player not only falls, he falls in love and she isn't succumbing to his charms!

Charlie thought he had his life under control ... women warming his sheets but with no requirement to make them breakfast in the morning. But when his little sisters best friend, Nova .. the quirky struggling artist needs his help and a place to hide from her parents sexual games, Charlie can't seem to stop himself.

Throw in some laughter, a healthy dose of steaming sex and more awkwardness than anyone should endure and you have another amazing book by Miller!

Hope there's more to come of these blue collar bachelors!

✨5 Stars✨-Amazing (couldn't put the book down-dangerous addiction),

Dual POV; Standalone in a series; 17+readers; HEA. No cliffhanger.

If you read book 1 of this series, you've met Charlie, Reese's brother. He's ex-military, owns his own construction company, protective of his loved ones, also he's cocky, has no filter and beds anything with 2 legs. He's a true PLAYER.
You've also met Nova, one of Reese's best friends. She's smart, she's a singer, a great artist, she does it all but works a dead end job she hates as a waitress barely making ends meet. She lacks confidence, even in her dating life. She only dates the simple good guys. The ones that won't break her heart, especially if she doesn't have to give it away to them.
Charlie and Nova have been friends for over a decade. Lately they've been spending a lot more time together, so much that they consider themselves best friends. They have a good time together, they can be themselves. It's easy except they're both attracted to each other but because of the years of friendship and they're incapable of having a relationship with meaning, they play the "we're just friends" card until one day maybe they're more.
With all these insecurities and mistrust, can they ever give in to love?

Is Nova the Woman he Really, Really Wants? Fantastic the best one of the series for me. I loved it. This writer is one really good author. An hilarious read with believable characters. Sharon, Charlie’s Office Foreman made me laugh so much I nearly fell out of the chair. Nova was talented and loyal to a fault but has trust issues. Charlie was a serial womaniser until he goes to Nova’s grandmothers wedding, but he was hit like a bolt of lightening and realises he has to make Nova his. The sexual energy and lust between these two was palpable. This is a highly recommended must read. This is my honest review of an ARC I received.

Good stuff

It was a good read. I enjoyed both characters and their development was really interesting to follow. The only negative was that they kept referencing Nova having been so hurt and her trust broken so badly but there is no backstory to explain what that is about. Just ke0t reiterating her trust issues and how she only dates safe guys to protect her heart but no idea is given as to why. I really liked the story explaining Charlie's bad boy ways. It was a different storyline than the usual broken heart caused the bad boy and I really enjoyed that change in things. Gave this story a much fresher feel than so many others like it

Nova and Charlie have been friends for years, due to her being best friends with his sister. She knows he's a player, and she keeps her real feelings for him secret. When they drunkenly cross the line, will they be able to go back to their friendship or will it destroy everything?

Play Boy is book 2 in this series and packs a punch
Nova has known Charlie for a long time as she is his sisters best friend! Something changes and Nova is unsure if she should trust Charlie and his playboy ways!
There is so much love and beautiful friendships in the story that you can’t help but want to be there to support Nova as well as Charlie in the uncertainties ahead!
I love the fact that there are strong bonds, can these two fight their feelings or do they remain just friends??! Read it to find out
I really cannot wait for more and who the author will write about next!

What a fantastic friends-to-lovers book! “Play Boy” hooked me from the first page. Charlie is a handsome billionaire play boy. Nova is a beautiful talented artist and best friend to Charlie's sister. Nova and Charlie have been denying their romantic feelings for each other because they are afraid of ruining their amazing friendship. Between Charlie's fear of commitment and Nova's insecurities they have some enormous problems to overcome. This fun, steamy, romantic story is a MUST READ.

Charlie and Nova's story

Player Charlie and friend Nova have known each other for years. He defended her in 8th grade from bullies. He is the big brother to her friend and is off limits. That takes a turn at her Grandmother's wedding. Their attraction becomes overpowering as they give in to lust. Lust grows into love as their relationship takes a rollercoaster ride with varying results. As they examine their feelings, guilt, uncertainty, fear of being hurt again, all come forth. Will they ever really be together? Read to find out.

Truly enjoyed this Blue Collar Bachelors Book (2). This book brought 2 people together that have issues beyond what you see but both have a capacity to love and be loved without believing they do. You've got a spunky, sassy h that gives the alpha H a run for his money but both must learn to trust in each other. Fantastic fun read ... as this series continues you’ll be taken along on a roller coaster ride of drama, lust and sizzling chemistry. The connection between Charlie and Nova kept me reading and needing to know what came next. This book can be read as a stand-alone, however you’ll definitely enjoy the quirky characters from book 1 more as they weave in and out of this story. I highly recommend it!!
