A Vatican priest and an Israeli scholar attempt to foil a diabolical scheme that revolves around a darkly beautiful young woman, marked by the satanic emblem, who seeks to seduce the most influential and powerful men in the world
What an intriguing cover here. The story itself was a bit unstructured. Of course the author illuminated the symbol of the trident and tried to construct some plot around it. But this was no straight line story telling. To many sidetracks to have a proper intriguing feeling coming up. Wanted to like it and enjoyed some of the background motifs but overall the cover was far better than the book. You can let this one out...
Pretty much trash from beginning to end…which is saying a lot considering this is a Zebra horror novel.
Granted, it wasn’t an original Zebra (looks like they just paid for the rights after some other publisher produced this in hardback), but still, The Trident is bad. Really bad.
It’s almost as if Hammil had no idea what he wanted this book to be. Seriously, I don’t know. Is it a demon possession story? A history on the Italians and Roman Catholicism? Is it unashamed praise for Israel? Really, who knows?
Hammil’s writing wasn’t bad, so there’s a minor bright spot. It’s just so bogged down with a non sensical story that it’s practically unsalvageable.
