He Took Me Out The Gutta

Rate this book
Growing up in poverty was not easy for Joyce’s family, but she applauded her mother for always making a way out of no way. With no help from her father, Joyce took on a mother role in her sibling’s life while their mother tended to stay away for long days and nights, working hard, and making money to provide for their household. When Joyce met the well-known, Akil Hampshire she had no idea that he would open so many doors for her. Akil's family was known from their Hampshire Surgical Centers that were located in Florida. Lucky for Joyce to fall in love with someone that was financially secured because she needed all the help she could get to help her family. Joyce fell deeper in love with her life saver over the years. That was up until he became comfortable with knowing that he took her and her family out the ghetto. After years of settling for his doggish, disrespectful behavior Joyce was finally ready to let go once Akil finished putting her younger siblings through college. She began to live her life, but was not expecting to run into another man at that moment. What was supposed to be fun, turned into a love triangle overnight. Red was young, but very much so charming, respectful, and strong. He was everything she needed to heal her broken heart and damaged soul. Although she had love for him, she refused to jump into a relationship after years of pain. When life seemed to get funnier for her, it only began to get worst. Houston was fresh out of prison trying to get justice for his mother’s wrongful death when he ran into a beautiful lady that immediately caught his eye. Neither he nor Joyce had the time for dating at that point, but he was willing to take a shot after learning how sweet and caring she really was. After a while, entertaining three men who you are in love with, have love for, and want to be with gets hard and unbearable. Unfortunately, Joyce knew that she couldn’t have her cake and eat it too. All three men wanted a piece of Joyce’s heart, but in the end she only has room for one. A complete standalone novel!

My heart is broken!!!!

HAVE MERCYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!! Johnazia has completely outdone herself with this book. Woman you write with soul, but this here book you wrote from your SOULLLLLLLLL. This book just has a different feel to it and I loveeeeeeee it with a passion. My favorite book to date that you’ve written and I’ve read them all. This book pulls you in and makes you wanna make a trip to the author hometown and keeps going until the very end. Chapter 23????? Chapter freaking 23!!!!!!!! How could you??? Lol. I was boo hoo crying at like 2:30am because of you woman!!!! Joyce is my girl, but I just could not see how she couldn’t see through Gabby. Akil did not deserve her and she sacrificed so much for her family and for that she has my upmost respect. Sam is my BFF in my head and I’m pleased with how her story ended. I did not see what came about from DeMarcus and his ending tore me in half. I do love that Joyce and Houston ended up together. My gawddddd this book was just on fireeeeeeeee and for those that keep passing up on Johnazia need to get their life and grab this book. You will NOT be disappointed!!!!

I didn't know who I hated the most between Akil and Gabby because they were beyond selfish and could care less who they hurt. Joyce gave strength an all new meaning because she carried so much just to ensure her family was straight. Samilia was a mess but I loved her because she had Joyce's back and stayed ready for whatever. Red was cool but at times he was doing too much. Houston was a stand up dude and followed through with the one goal he had in mind with Joyce's help. There were so many secrets and lies that had so many at odds but eventually the truth showed people for who they truly were. Karma came around so strong and I didn't have any sympathy because they got what they deserved. I was glad Fontaine got the opportunity to tell the truth and I wish Demarcus had thought things through before handling them the way he did. Although there were a series of sad moments things worked themselves out. Akil may have taken Joyce out of the gutta but the better man gained her heart and showed her the true meaning of love.

Review of He Took Me Out The Gutta

This book spoke some real life ish to these young women. A man will only do to you what you allow him to do.
Joyce was my favorite character. She was a selfless young lady who saw no wrong in nobody. If only that were true. It's a wonder she didn't have a nervous breakdown after all she went through in her young life.
Akil, Gabby, Jessica, and Bianca were the some of the nastiest individuals I've read about. No worries because they got what was coming to them.

Great

I enjoyed this book. Very realistic. It reiterates that karma exists and is a bitch. Gabby was a terrible person and I tried to figure out where it was coming from. It really had me thinking. Skip eventually had to pay for his wrong deeds and it couldn't happen to a better person. I was glad that Joyce found her love. She deserved it and more. The love she had for her family triumphed everything. This is a a good and different read and I would definitely recommend it.

NEVER WOULD HAVE MADE IT

this is a story that would keep you in tears. it showed you have to be strong even when you don't know how to be. I must say I was not crazy about the main character Joyce. For me the best character was her sister Sam. this story also show what happens when there are so many family secrets. I could not really tell what direction this book was taking me but I love where it went. This is a book you will cry and enjoy.

Good read

Wow Joyce had her hands full. Family secrets can definitely be devastating. These characters were living proof of that. Glad that Joyce and Samilia where able to fight through the foolery and Gibbs happiness. Akil got exactly what was coming to him for being such an idiot and sorry exist for a man and father. Didn't see Demarcus going out the way he did. Gabby was just all kinds of messed up. Great read.

OMG!!!

This book was good it was never a dull moment. I liked how this story was told like peeling off one layer at a time. Joy went through more than one person should. Gabby was the most selfish person that I've read about in a long time, her and Akil. Overall this was a good read and you won't be disappointed.

Sigh... where do I begin... first ... I love Joyce and her sweet spirit even though sometimes she was a little too naive... Gabby deserve everything she got... I hated the way Red died... I loved Houston real ness... overall a great book that focuses on the dangers of family secrets! And you don’t know people story so don’t judge them

Heartfelt!!

This standalone had my emotions on a roller coaster. One minute I was cursing Joyce out for being such a pushover, and the next I was crying hard tears for her. I couldn't imagine experiencing what Joyce experienced. This is a must read. Great lessons are to be learned in this book as well. Great Job Johnazia!!!

😱😱😱😱😱

From beginning to end there was a lot going on. This read was such a testament to how lies and jealousy can kill family and friend relationships. This read gave you love and loss, but it was definitely intriguing. Karma came around full circle for the ones that were nasty and pure ungrateful.

Where do you come up with this? My heart went out to Joyce the entire book. I wanted to step into the pages and whoop Tabby and Jessica myself. Lol but I am happy Joyce got somewhat a happy ending. Johnson has a mind of a beast and she never stops amazing me. You go girl! A fan for life. Sheena all day😘

GREAT READ

From the title, I was under the impression that the book would be a similar to other books I read, where dope boys come into a troubled girls life and brighten it up. This was the opposite though! It was so much more than that. There were many twists and turns... great writing and dialogue, i i laughed and shed tears while reading this book.

i felt so bad for Joyce. no matter what anyone told her she continued to try to see only the good in people. she was loyal to ppl that could care less about her which allowed her to be taken advantage of. it was nice to see how from start to finish she changed and stopped allowing on to get over on her. i’m glad she finally got her peace and happiness after losing so much.

Akil and Gabby got everything they deserved. Joyce didn't deserve any of the pain she endured. I'm glad that Red and Houston came into her life. She deserved to be happy and Houston gave her the happiness she was missing. Great job I enjoyed it.

Great Standalone

The storyline was wonderful and touched basically on realistic things that goes on in our everyday lives. Joyce tried to see the good in everybody when all along. They were doing her wrong, I’m glad she still didn’t lose faith but kept going on . Must read

Emotional rollercoaster

Love this book!! It takes you on an emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end. Poor Joy went through so much I didn't think she would ever catch a break. I wanted to hurt a few of the characters especially Akil.

Original and Amazing

The plot thickens, slowly, like a pot of gumbo.
What I appreciate most about this story is how original is it. It isn’t the typical dope boy meets girl and falls in love. In fact, it’s far from it.
