I didn't really enjoy this one because I don't understand the characters' relationship.
Their relationship is so shallow! It has zero substance in it. Honestly, they've got nothing going on except for a mutual sexual attraction. My guess is that they would have split maybe few months after this book, lol.
Also I think this book would have been teensy bit better without the Hero's point of view. I think it only appeared once BUT HOLY HELL that was one POINTLESS CHAPTER. That chapter was dedicated to the Hero's perpetual hard on which contributes nothing to the story.
It also makes him sound like a TOTAL sleazebag which is a huge turn off for me. He was thinking about biting her clitoris while meeting her for the first time! If that ain't creepy I don't know what is. Lol.

When curvy girl Dawn is dumped by her sleazy ex for a woman who's thinner than she, she feels lower than low. But she meets Ace at his gym and he helps her transform herself from the inside out.
Ace was attracted to Dawn from the first time he saw her in his gym. He can tell she's a newbie to the fitness realm, and offers to coach her. He didn't realize he'd fall in love with her while coaching her.
I liked this story - a gorgeous guy being attracted to a curvy, already beautiful woman and helping her with her self-esteem. I do wish Dawn had been stronger from the beginning, she was a bit annoying at first. But I do like that she developed into a more confident, stronger person by the end.

Love this BBW!
After two years of being together, Dawn's boyfriend James dumps her for another woman. Not only that, but he is mean about it and calls her fat and tells her she is terrible in bed. Determined to turn her life around and try to forget all the times that James belittled her in the time they've been together, she heads to the nearest gym to start working on her body and getting fit. There she meets Ace who is the owner of the gym and he falls instantly in love/lust with Dawn.
I love that throughout the book Ace has always been Dawn's champion. He keeps encouraging her and tells her how beautiful, sexy, and wonderful she is. He tells her how much he likes her. Dan finally learns to believe and trust him. This is my second book that I've read by River Laurent and I do enjoy the underlying little moral teachings of these books.

My first River Laurent read hooked me, and I’ve since been curious for more. Although I have enjoyed the books I have read since, I have not enjoyed any of them as much as I enjoyed my first read from the author. With Sweet Revenge, we have a book I found hard to finish.
I like a bit of substance in my romance, and this one did not have it. We end one relationship and jump into bed with another guy hours later, all whilst thinking about the damage done to our heroine’s self-esteem. In my experience of having low self-esteem, that is not how it works. I know everyone has a different experience, but I could not get the thoughts and actions to line up, thus leaving me unable to enjoy the story. Add in the fact I felt no connection to the characters and there was nothing in the story that left me wanting more, and this one missed the mark for me.
Some may enjoy this as a quick read, but it was not for me.

This story is pretty fast with insta-lust, insta-love, and insta-happiness, but that doesn't take away from how fun it was to read it and how hot it was. They were setting the sheets on fire! It's a good quick read.

When Dawn's boyfriend dumps her just before New Years Eve she upset more by his comment that its because she's fat. She ends up back at the gym working out when a gorgeous man approaches her. Ace can't believe the stunning woman that's across the room working out in his gym. Unable to help himself he walks over and offers to help her. One thing leads to another and they end up back at his place. Dawn can't believe that Ace is interested in her and is stunned when he asks her out for New Year Eve. When they are at his friend's party Ace's ex starts making nasty comments about her and she wants to leave because it just makes her feel like she doesn't belong there. Will Ace be able to convince her that he wants her and not his ex?
This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Dawn and Ace is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I loved how the curvy girls wins the hot guy. I would recommend this to any of my book friends.

This shorter read was distinctly meh. I almost quit after the chapter from the heroes pov. It was really too much. It was actually a little creepy how much he sexualized her at first glance. Then I almost quit after the first ott sex scene. Omg look another monster cock! Seriously can't anyone just be normal in a romance? Also who puts their mouth on someone's asshole without even learning their name?! But since this was short and I'd already quit one book I trucked on. It was kind've cute I guess but the story and relationship had no substance. The characters are cardboard, her only character trait is her insecurity about her weight. He seems like a nice guy but I have a hard time believing any dude would this saccharine. Too Insta lovey as well.

The book was a really fun read and super quick to get through but I was meh about it all. Getting out of a relationship only to meet someone new at the gym a few hours later.... There really was no plot to this. It's not a bad book but it was super rushed and I found the whole ordeal to be cringe worthy.

What a wonderful story. I am really happy with this kind of books. It reads wonderfully and the short timeline that it has makes it all easy to follow. The chemistry is delicious from the pages ... wow who does not want a man that you all in heaven praised. This is a book that makes everyone feel good. 5 stars. Absolutely great!!

Fun romance
Really liked the 2nd book in the curvy girl series. It was funny and romantic. I couldn't put it down. I read it in one sitting. The only thing is there was only one chapter from Ace's perspective. I thought that each chapter should alternate between characters. But still a great book.

i've read River's before ... i am almost positive??! i think. love the cover. why is dating so tough, makes u realize why some folks quit but it is so entertaining for us the reader. or at least for the author to write and us to read. Must read, enjoyable quick, fun, fast, read for me! will read more from River soon enough. ( :

I must ask, am I crazy? I read this, wonderful story the other night... problem? I was just going to check out Sweet Revenge, it's the same syp, same story, and same characters. I read a couple of reviews and thought wth did they read? Cole dumped Taylor for a thinner girl? No such thing, everything he did was for her. self sacrificed for her. He definitely wasn't a man whore... this isn't just a different cover, it's a different version if what a couple of reviews said are indeed true about Sweet Revenge, (mentioning this is a perfect book for curvy women?) I'm flat out confused. This book had absolutely nothing to do with weight. I think if this author did an edited version and titled it a different name she needs to make a note indicating that because to make Cole into somebody aweful in a different titled book is an injustice, I loved him! I have to agree when Taylor got back into town, and he saw her for the 1st time in 8yr? That was just ridiculous, I thought what a joke it's going to be, I was wrong and loved it. Damn it was dirty, oh yeah!

I seriously don’t get this book. The characters are so poorly developed and unlikable. Even the ending is like the beginning of a book where you can’t wait for the characters to better themselves but it’s...the end!
Dawn is seriously the worst kind of girl, insecure and always putting herself down. And this book is about her journey after a breakup so I am expecting something empowering and pro woman but NO. She NEEDS a man to give her worth even until the very end saying something about how she wishes all women had men like hers to make them feel pretty...what?! She’s just as insecure and pathetic at the end of the book than in the beginning (maybe more so because at least when she was dumped she wanted to be strong but by the end she just wants to lean on her man).

Love know no shape and size
I enjoyed reading Ave and Dawn's love story. Love does not discriminate at all, it seems no color, size or shape. I wish for every James there's an Ace to every women who feel unworthy only because they are not model thin. Kudos to River for writing this.

Hunky guy falls for a fat girl with low self esteem. Yawn. Skipped some pages it was so predictable. didn't like how she kept putting herself down all the time, and she put the guy on a pedestal and was practically worshipping him. He was so perfect (no man is ever that perfect) just unrealistic couldn't connect with the characters.

Did not enjoy! I would have quit, but it was very short. Here's my favorite sentence: "Something tells me, from what you've told me before, that you haven't spent much time imagining what could be." Bad writing, characters with forced chemistry (probably because it was so short,) eh, just not my cup of tea.

Great love story
I love the characters in this story. Dawn has just been dumped by her bf of two years James. Not only has James decided to break up with her but took great pleasure in letting her know that he’d found someone else....someone he says is much more attractive than Dawn ever was.
Dawns a nice person. But just like so many women she doesn’t want to see all the red flags waving in her face until she’s forced to by circumstances. But when she finally does take a real look, she realizes that she’d been fooling herself and making excuses for allowing her now ex bf James to control and manipulate and belittle her.
Dawn decides that it’s time she takes her life back and she’s going to start with getting herself back into shape. She’s always been a curvy girl and she’s ok with that. But she realizes that along the way James crushing and sabotaging her self esteem had to do more with her allowing him to change her. And then using those changes against her.
But it’s funny how life is....on the night James walks out her door and Dawn decides to reclaim herself she goes to the local gym to begin the process and meets Ace the owner of the gym.
Ace is gorgeous. Everything about him is masculine and sculpted. He is the guy most women would think of as fantasy material. Ace takes one look at Dawn and he’s hooked. If there is such a thing as love at first sight Ace falls for Dawn on sight alone. He’s shocked in fact by his physical and emotional reactions to her. And he can’t help but be drawn to her. He literally can’t help himself.
This story has a man who is self made. He knows himself and has a clear idea of that he wants and what will make him happy. His only concern is coming on too strong and scaring the object of his attentions off. Dawn is a great person she’s beautiful inside and out. She’s not what the typical idea of cover model beauty might be, but she’s a truly beautiful woman, who just doesn’t see her own worth. This is a story of seeing and appreciating what you have in front of you and not being afraid to embrace it.
It’s a very easy read and worth it.

There's no good reason to cheat and when Dawn's no-good ex blames it on her body shape and lack of bedroom prowess she's good and hurt. And then she's pissed. But the best revenge is being happy with yourself so Dawn makes the remarkably adult choice to go back to her real self, the one that got lost trying to hold onto a man who never truly appreciated her. On the way there she meets Ace, someone who seems genuinely interested in all that she is...well, physically at least at first. One night of indulgence paves the way to her own happily-ever-after but not until she comes to terms with accepting herself before she can accept what Ace seems to be offering.
We get one chapter from Ace's POV and I'll be honest, it's shallow and just not enough. I like Ace, actually, but the first impression we get of him is an unsatisfied man who's tired of temporary but quickly gets distracted by luscious curves and then his inner monologue devolves into a lot of superficial dirty thoughts. There's nothing wrong with dirty thoughts and being physically attracted to someone, but when it becomes the only thing on your mind, we're left to wonder if there's anything of substance to hold the interest. Thankfully that changes and he shows his heart. We get it all through Dawn's POV, which is mostly fine because it's about her and her transformation and moment of revenge, but I would have liked something a bit more balanced. The author really needed to have this book read by an additional editor because there are some hefty mistakes in this book...in the beginning Dawn mentions her BFF as Lisa who incidentally hate her ex James. Later on Dawn calls her BFF who’s name suddenly changes to Gena. I usually don’t pick apart books for grammatical errors but this one is pretty huge and should have been caught by an editor.
With that being said, I liked the plot to this book...there is so much stigmatization on women who are bigger, they are made to feel ugly especially in the media’s eyes in today’s view. This book goes against that stigmatized way of thinking and it’s refreshing to see (even if it’s not the first book I’ve read that has).
There were a quite a few editing errors in this but other than the name change (for me at least) it wasn’t really a problem for me. The characters themselves were very well fleshed out the plot as well was well paced even with this being an insta-love story it was paced well enough that it didn’t feel like it was as fast as it was.
I would recommend this book to others but I would also recommend the author have someone read over their next book and re-edit it for them next time to prevent mistakes like forgetting the name of a character half way through the book.

I love River Laurent’s stories she writes some amazing contemporary romances and this book Sweet Revenge is no exception. Dawn is a curvy woman her boyfriend of 2 years dumps her for another woman who is half her size, her pig of a ex boyfriend tells her that she is fat and unattractive and he breaks up with her on New Years Eve. Dawn feels absolutely terrible about herself so she starts going to the gym and that’s where she meets Ace. Ace is the owner of the gym he see’s Dawn having trouble with a machine so he goes over to help her, Ace is attracted and turned on by this beautiful woman in front of him she is sweet and caring and he loves her curves. They are both attracted to each other and they even flirt with each other until one day Ace asks Dawn to go home with him of course she says yes and Ace sets her body on fire and he loves all of her curves. I loved this story there are quite a few men out there that love curvy women and I’m very thankful for them and I loved Ace he just saw a sweet beautiful woman. Thank you River for this fantastic story I loved it, it definitely deserves a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
