Earth Shaker by Juliana Haygert a five-star read that will shake you to the core. This is a novella in the Fire Heart Chronicles and I read it as advised between books two and three in the series. This novella gives us some back story to some of the characters we have met in the first two books in the series, it tells us how Cora and the boys ended up at the enclave, as well as someone else I didn’t realise. This novella just makes the whole series that much stronger. It answers some of the questions, but it also made my mind tick over so much more. Book three cant come soon enough for me!!

Great story. Cora is a delight. Rye is a gentle man. There are many other wonderful characters. There is plenty of action. A little romance. And a lot of sorrow.

I received a copy of this book as a gift. I am leaving my honest review.

I really enjoy this series. And to be able to read Cora’s story, to see what happened before in her life is great! I really hope that she and Rye will end up together! They definitely are perfect for each other! Can’t wait to see what else will happen in book 3!!! Can’t wait!

Lovely

Only thing I'm wondering is why Cora never used her AMAZING power in the other books? Definitely could have saved them a lot!

I really loved Heart Seeker and Flame Caster, the first two books in Juliana Haygert’s Fire Heart Chronicles series. Earth Shaker is a sort of book 2.5 that takes place after Flame Caster and prior to book 3, Sorrow Bringer, which is actually about to be e-published. This book 2.5 is focused on Mirella's friend Cora, a significant character in the prior books. It provides great background about how she and her friends cane to the enclave (very much appreciated for those of us who have been following the series along) and also gives a great story about how Cora and Rye (I so much want her to end up with Rye; he’s such a sweetheart) deal with an invasion of the enclave. So there you have it, a great (if relatively short) story in itself which provides some neat added back story for the series as a whole. Pretty darn neat. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the that series book 3.

Cora isn’t your typical Tzigane maiden. She’s no fragile flower, only interested in clothes, jewelry, make-up, and hair. She’s a beautiful fierce warrior. She has the love and support of her family and the respect of her fellow warriors, but the rest of the enclave sits in judgment. Still, she will protect them with her life. So, when alchemists invade and destroy the enclave, and Cora isn’t there to fight for them, she's devastated. In one night, she loses everything and nearly everyone she loves.

This novella gives us insight into the warrior princess’s past and the deep sadness she continues to carry. We understand her complicated relationship with Rye and why she keeps her heart closed. It’s heartbreaking but with a sliver of hope. I appreciated the glimpse into Cora.

The novella tells the story from Cora's perspective, offering insights on the most painful events in her life, how she lost her whole enclave, came to live at Bellville, and the inceptions of her complicated relationship with Rye. The action packed short piece is full of pain, betrayal, violence, and fear, with small rays of hope and support woven into the range of negative emotions. The story shows Cora's strength and uniqueness among the Tzigane, a little more of her personality and more understanding of her behavior in the main series. Nice addition to the main plot.

This was a great in-between the books novella to keep the reader satisfied until the next book (book 3) comes out. We learn how Cora, her friends, and another character came to be at the compound, and how her and Rye get to be closer. This one just whets your appetite for the next one, and I for one can’t wait to see what’s next for all the characters. Highly recommend to readers of YA/NA! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.

Wow. I really loved this little nugget about another clan of tziganes and their super secret world. This story is full of action and emotion and ties into some of the characters already loved in the previous books of the series. This little bit of backstory shows how great this author is at world building.

After reading the first 2 books I've got to say, this is my favourite so far! It's really really good. Deeply intense and shocking.

Got to say though, Kindle editions of this book, as well as previous two from these chronicles have so many ridiculous typos that it sometimes really bugs me. It's a shame that e-books were not proof read properly.

Cora, Rye and Nico had a lot of bad things happen to them throughout this story. They lost everything they loved and their homes. They did save the animals in the end and made it to Bellville with the help of Theron and Ramon. Their powers are impressive, but the enemy is merciless with their kind, the alchemists only want blood and doom. Loved the story and can’t wait to see what happens next.

This book is nothing but a really well done backstory on an event mentioned throughout the series. It lets you know exactly what happened to certain characters and why they are where they are.

A short but interesting sidestory.
This novella gives a lot of insight on the background story of a frequently mentioned character, Cora. I enjoyed getting to know Cora, Rye and Nico better, and the story gave me a much better vision on Bellville.
