They came from the tough streets of London's east-end. They Grew up together, they fought together, they ruled vast swathes of the city together, they murdered together, and together everyone considered them unstoppable. Ronnie and Reggie Kray's reputation for violence preceded them wherever they went and was instrumental in propelling them to a notoriety which has never been equalled, before or since, throughout the brutal history of British organised crime. Presented concisely, yet packed with detail, this book concentrates on telling the true story of the Krays, their rise to the top of London's criminal underworld, their subsequent murderous exploits and how they were finally brought to justice. In recounting the rise and fall of London's most notorious mobsters, Dan Shaw leads the reader into the very heart of post war London gangland. It wasn't a place for the timid. Dare you enter violent world of The Krays? 'The Krays' is the first installment in the 'True Crime' series by Dan Shaw.
This is a precis of the lives and misdeeds of Reggie and Ronnie Kray and their loyal 'Firm'. There are only a few ways of telling the world about the madness and violence of the Twins in 1960s London. However, if you're looking for a brief narrative without getting bogged down in lots of detail, then this book is for you.
A short, pithy account of the Krays. I do remember the trial which really did grip the nation but the details, as laid down in this little book, were largely lost in the sensational headlines of the time. A great read!
Not a bad read even though there is not anything really new to add to the Kray twins legend and story. Interesting enough though if you have not read anything else on the Krays.
