This little book is a valuable tool for observing Black History Month. Every day, I learned about Black people from American history, many I had not heard of before, but also how their stories tied in with scripture and the story of Christianity in America. Dr. Brown's reflections gave background on each scripture passage and how it related to the Black experience but also to my own present-day experience. The Do, Discuss, and Dig Deeper sections at the end of each day provided creative and expressive ways to engage with the reflections on my own or as a group. Reading this book with a small group and choosing from among the activities would make this book even more impactful.
