I am ploughing my way through the classics. I read L'Harmattan during the Harmattan in Niger; reading ended each evening when the sand filled air, combined with the sun dropping below the horizon made seeing the pages impossible. The pre-independence referendum in this un-named Sahelien state reminded me of how so little has changed - South Africa's ruling party is making the same mistakes the colonial masters made when pushing for a yes vote - yes for change really meant yes for no change. Those at the trough kept their places. History is for learning.
