Rory Sinclair was a seasoned police officer. Last thing he needed was to have to babysit a dog while on duty. At least, that was his mindset when he walked into the first day of training with the K9 unit. It didn’t take long for him to realize that Shasta would be the best partner he ever had. Even taking a bullet to save his life … there was no way he’d ever be able to repay her.
Heroes come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, something that has been demonstrated over and over again by the courage and bravery of police dogs in the K9 unit. The bond between a police dog and his police officer handler is so strong, both look to each other for protection. This is one such story of loyalty and courage of Shasta for her partner.
Shasta is the story about the bond between a man and his dog. Rory is a police officer who is assigned to the K-9 unit. Although he’s not thrilled with the transfer to the K-9 unit, it ends up being the best thing for him.
Rory instantly bonds with his new partner Shasta. The two become inseparable at work and at home. Rory finds his cold attitude warming with Shasta, and the dog becomes Rory’s protector as they face danger.
This is a short story that can be finished in a day. While the story’s nice and you feel the connection between Rory and Shasta, I think it would’ve benefited from being a full-length novel.
There’s so much to explore with Rory’s past and the accident that got him transferred. Plus, it would’ve helped seeing Rory and Shasta’s bond continue to grow and how Rory’s life changed for the better thanks to Shasta.
