The Hopeless World #2

Black Hole Infection

Rate this book
They thought they knew how the world ends… Parker has always been other, an outsider in the Last Holdout, a strange almost feral creature that trusted Josiah. Josiah always accepted his strangeness as a strength. Africa changed everything. Parker is different here. Dangerous and powerful in a way neither knew he could be. It's terrifying. But if they are going to survive the continent, they'll need to trust each other--and their reluctant allies--in ways they never have before. All of Africa is watching them as they change the balance of power. And the zombies aren't the only things trying to kill them.

Chaos, dark, deadly chaos rules a dying world. Nazarea Andrews pulls us into a world that has been infected and what is left of humanity festers in fear and hatred. Zombies are killing machines, and there are those who can control them.

Gangs are raping the world, there is no structure anymore, and humanity has become as feral as the infected. Forced to leave behind their sanctuary, a band of humans will travel to Africa, seeking answers to questions they may not even have thought of yet. What they find is animosity, mistrust and death. Those with the greatest power over the hordes wins, period.

BLACK HOLE INFECTION by Nazarea Andrews is NOT a light read, it is intense, it is filled with details, memories, and a feeling of confusion as we follow one band of allies, each with their own pasts, each fighting for their future, and each terrified they may have trusted in the wrong people.

Do NOT even attempt to read BLACK HOLE INFECTION without having read the first book in this series. Although there is a thread between other Nazarea Andrews books including characters that cross over, I have the feeling you MUST read book one first. I felt I was struggling to stay in the moment many times, wondering how another of her books I have read, relates to this story!

I received a Complimentary ARC edition from Nazarea Andrews as part of a voluntary blog tour review!

I'm on the fence with this book. I spent half of it trying to make sense of the timeline and the various characters, and the other half getting lost in the story and hoping i didn't miss something important.

Now, don't get me wrong - i believe that Nazarea Andrews is a genius when it comes to writing her stories. Not one is remotely the same as another and each other very well written. Only, and it's happened to me once before, when it comes to series such as this one, you simply can't just jump in at any point and hope you'll be able to understand it fully.

More than one i questioned myself on whether Josiah was male or female (especially in the beginning) and wondered how Parker fit into the Tribe. I wish i could have started from the first instalment in the series because i know it would have made a HUGE difference in my experience with Black Hole Infection and the who'se who in the many characters and their link to one another.

I always love getting the chance to dive back into the world on Nazarea Andrews' End Of The World series, and after almost a years wait, I was finally able to dive back in with the release of Black Hole Infection.

There's so much that happens in these books, lots of people to keep track of, and situations which have happened, so admittedly, after such a long wait between books, I felt this time around I could have done with a quick recap in the front of the book so I could fully immerse myself back in this world, but nevertheless, I still, as always, thoroughly enjoyed this latest offering from one of my favourite authors!

I've had a longstanding crush on Finn, and I love that these spinoff books still contain him and Ren (they're my favourite couple out of all this authors books), but the more time I spend with Parker and Josiah, the more they have me melting! I just love them together!! I love that Nazarea took a chance on these two characters, and I love seeing how their relationship works and evolves as the story develops and they really step into the roles they now play.

In Black Hole Infection, the story goes back and forth between present day and 3 years ago, so we got to see more from Sylvia, Josiah and Finn's mum, and the woman who started it all - The Plague Bringer. There's all the usual drama and twists and turns that I love to see in this series, and as always, one heck of an ending! Ok, Ms Andrews, I'm ready for next book now!

Not as good as the original

Parker and Josiah are perfectly fine interesting characters. Overall this series just isn’t drawing me in as easily as the first one. They lack the volatility that Finn and Ren had and the smut lacks depth as well. Africa is an interesting change of scenery but it’s not enough to keep me on the edge of my seat reading all night.

Great read

I absolutely fell in love with Finn and Ren, so I was only too excited to fall in love with Siah and Parks, too. I loved being able to keep up with Finn. While following an entirely new, fresh direction. Now in just impatiently freaking out until the next installment.

This was the first book I have read from Nazarea and I hadn't realised this was the second book in a series and I will be honest I was bit lost at first and had to stop to read the first one first. So I say you really do need to read the first book in the series Personal Apocolypse before starting this one.

This book is not a light read, its dark and intense. I was completely gripped and drawn into this dark apocalyptic world. There is so much going on that you are hooked, wanting to see what happens to these brilliantly written characters. To see how these people survive but yet still love is beautiful to read in all the darkness.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from the author and Inkslinger PR
