ECPA BESTSELLER - The New York Times best-selling sports star and media icon motivates readers to stop postponing dreams and start making them happen now because--this is the day.
Beyond Tim Tebow's exploits as a Heisman-winning football player, he is widely known and respected for his exemplary character and personal excellence, which have made him a role model for millions. When Tim interacts with the public, he often encounters people who feel "stuck"--unable to take action on matters ranging from daily life to pursuing lifelong dreams. In response, Tim often identifies a crippling fear or lack of courage, to which he advises: "now is the time to take some risks, to quiet the voices of defeat, to step forward and make a mark, because this is the day." In this inspiring, motivational book, readers will receive the advice and encouragement to daily move from "pause" to "play" in finding deeper meaning and success. Tim illustrates the book's themes with stories from his personal life that will delight all readers, including his an update on his dream pursuit of a baseball career.
Tim Tebow is one of the most accomplished players in college football history. A two-time winner of the NCAA National Football Championship with the University of Florida, Tim is also the first-ever sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy. He then went on to become a two-time winner of the Maxwell Award for the nation’s top football player, while also winning the Davey O’Brien Award for the nation’s best college quarterback and the James E. Sullivan Award for the most outstanding amateur athlete in any sport. He is the founder of the Tim Tebow Foundation which was started to bring faith, hope, and love to those needing a brighter day in the darkest hour of need, and in April 2010, Tim was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. He lives in Colorado.
Every time I listen to Tim Tebow talk or watch a video of him sharing his stories, I'm totally inspired. I couldn't wait to read his new book This is the Day. It was exactly what I expected and more.
In the book, Tim reflects on past experiences, with a strong message to live your days like they're your last, because you never know how much time you have. Also, let go of the past. I especially enjoyed reading a little bit about Tim's family history and all the wonderful things he's done to help people. Even though many of the examples he shares aren't realistic for me because we're two totally different people, what is realistic is accepting the role you have in life no matter what it may be, and in my case, it's a wife and mother. Not only that, one of my biggest takeaways from the book is that it's good to be mindful about others and kind toward them. It can be a simple random act of kindness that can truly change the world.
I found the book to be written well, it kept my interest, and I'll more than likely reference this one in the future. This book will inspire you to live your best life for yourself and others. It is a Christian book, but I feel that anyone can take something from it.

I'd like to thank NetGalley, the publisher, and authors for sharing this book with me in exchange for my honest opinions.
I’ve read (listened) to a Tim Tebow book. I’m set now. No more needed. What a platitudinous text. Take this nugget, “life can be challenging.” Thanks for the update, Tim!
I gave this book two stars because it is liberally filled with Bible verses. The verses are gold. The rest of the text is…not gold. Now, there is probably not one point in this book that I disagreed with Mr. Tebow on. I think the world would be better if more men were a bit more like him. As I said, I did not disagree with one point he made. It’s the way he makes the point that I take issue with. There are so many times where Tim Tebow’s preciousness and fake humility is seriously off putting. This book is filled with “humble brags”. Tebow has a high opinion of himself. If I had a dime for every time Tebow talks about seeing someone in an airport or some such place and they burst into tears at the sight of him, and he leads them out of the darkness…I’d have a dollar or two. He always says how “much he wants to bring hope.” Maybe he should have rephrased it to say that “Jesus brings hope.” Just a thought.
THIS IS THE DAY is a positive book. Tim Tebow is a good guy. But this book is surface level. If I’m going to read something like this, I want more meat. I’m sure this is a good read for some, just not for me.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Tim Tebow’s latest book, “This Is the Day.” Tim is an exceptional human being, which I already knew but was made more aware of through reading this book. Tim shares many stories that any sports fan will enjoy reading, but also stories about people who have touched his life in different ways. Tim goes out of his way to help in situations where most people will turn a blind eye. He shares his love for Jesus and his heart for people with special needs. In “This Is the Day,” Tim encourages all of us to push past discomfort to go after our dreams, to put the past behind us, to connect with God, to make our lives count. I definitely cried several times while reading this book and encourage everyone to read it!
I received an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you, Waterbrook!
Excellent read. Don't wait for a special day to show other people the love of God. Don't wait for a specific reason to encourage others. This is the day. Author Tim Tebow shares personal examples of how he listens to the nudges God provides and how he follows through on those nudges. Also, he shares his feelings when he ignores those special messages. Encouraging and inspiring book. I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. This is my personal opinion. No review was required. @WaterBrookMulnomah#Partner
I'm not really into sports, but I have known who Tim Tebow is for several years now, and have always been very impressed by his humility and genuine heart for God. I don't often read non-fiction and had never read anything by this author, but when I was given the opportunity to join the launch team for this book I felt a nudge from God to sign up! Needless to say, I listened to that nudge and I'm so glad I did because this book was EXACTLY what I needed to read at this point in my life! Speaking as someone who has of late felt "stuck" in life and wondering just what next step God wants me to take in His plan for my life, God used this book to inspire and energize me to reach out right where I am and share His love with people! Tim's words were a fantastic reminder that even when it might not feel like it I am loved by God, I matter, the things I say and do matter, God has a purpose and a plan for my life, and that He will work through me to impact the lives of the people around me if I will only be open to it! Tim writes in such a conversational way that reading this book felt like chatting with a friend, he did a great job of using stories from his own life to get his point across and inspire without ever becoming preachy. I especially loved all the suggestions for applying the message in each chapter to your life and the examples of ways to live out your purpose in real world, everyday life moments. This is one book that I know I will be rereading many times in the future, it impacted me in a tremendously powerful way, left me feeling excited for whatever God has in store for me, and filled me with a determination and reawakened desire to tell people just how much God loves them! Overall, I absolutely loved every moment of this book, I would share a favorite quote but there are simply too many for me to choose, nary a page passed without at least one quote that I wanted to highlight, and I'm already itching to reread it so I can savor all the fabulous quoteable reminders! I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone and am very much looking forward to reading more of Tim Tebow's books in the future! Seriously, this book is SO GOOD! I dare you to read This is the Day and tell me it didn't change you!
I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher, which did not influence my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.
Imagine getting out of bed every day and living every day to the fullest. Tim Tebow encourages you and I to do just that in his new book, This is the Day.
Each of the twelve chapters in This is The Day invites readers to learn how to make the most of each day and, most importantly, to make the most of each day in living for God and loving others. He reminds readers to say "I Love You", leave the past behind, say yes, to live with open hands, and to make each day count, among other chapter topics. In each chapter, Tebow offers words of advice along with stories from his life and the lives around him as he encourages readers to make the most of every day of their life. At the end of each chapter, Tebow has a brief section titled, Make This Your Day where he gives ideas on how to live out the chapter precepts and he offers a question to ask yourself as you reflect on how to apply each topic to your own life.
I enjoyed This Is The Day. I liked all of Tebow's stories from his life and those he has helped through his foundations. I admire him so much for his special Night to Shine proms. I am not a big sports fan, although I appreciate a good game if I am there, but I think so much of this man for all he does to help others. I also like that This is the Day reminds us that we can all do things to show love to those around us and make the world better each day. If we keep our minds in tune to the Spirit of God, like Tebow, we can also remember to help those around us that we may feel prompted to care for. Tebow reminds us that we can all make a difference each and every day. He also shares Jesus with those he meets and with readers and there is a clear salvation message at the back of the book.
I received this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review.
In "This Is The Day," Tim Tebow encourages readers to view each day as a gift from God to be used for his glory. He reminds us to step outside of our comfort zone and live in the moment, because we are not guaranteed tomorrow. Tebow shares personal stories and experiences that add to his message of living with purpose. Each chapter is based around something we can do to make this "the day" and includes Bible verses and stories to back up his ideas. Topics include saying "I love you," leaving the past behind and living with open hands.
While it doesn't dig too deep, the concepts are relatable and I found his words to be very motivating and inspiring. It was an easy read. It would be a great book for a person exploring Christianity or someone new to their faith. You definitely don't need to be a sports fan to appreciate his message, although it helps because a lot of his examples come from his sports career. I would recommend this book to anyone who could use a little motivation in their life.
I received an advance reader copy from the publisher.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Wow! Talk about a book landing in your lap at the right time. Several times I thought he was speaking to me personally. Heartfelt and encouraging. This is a great read!
It was an easy read. I finished the book in a day. It is written in a conversational tone which I honestly don’t think I loved. The writing style just seemed very basic. I’m sure he’s a great person and I commend him for his work with his foundation and prisons but I found some of his stories kind of arrogant. For instance, the story towards the end about showing people they matter and buying his mother a very expensive one of one bracelet. Some of the stories seemed like he was bragging which I didn’t enjoy. Overall I’m glad it was a library copy and not a book I purchased 😬
[Note: This book was provided free of charge by Multnomah/Waterbrook Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own.]
Tim Tebow, former quarterback for the Florida Gators and Denver Broncos and current member of the New York Mets farm system in baseball, has lived an exciting life, and in this quick and easy-to-read book, the author discusses the exciting ways that he has leveraged his money and fame in order to serve others. Yet readers like myself will be at some disadvantage in reading this book, as the author refers to other books that he has written before, and this book will be most appreciated by those who are either big fans of the author's athletic career or very familiar with his faith and his previous writings [1]. As someone who is at best a mild fan of the author, this book was mainly of value in demonstrating the author's commitment to service and his optimism and faith that God will fulfill his plans through believers, and that is sufficient to get a lot out of the book.
This book is about 200 pages and is divided into twelve chapters that are divided into various thematic rather than chronological chapters. Tebow reminds the reader to tell their loved ones about their love (1), get in the game (2), and leave the past behind (3). He tells readers to listen to the right voice (4), believe in what really matters (5), and to say yes (6) to the opportunities that God is giving us to make our life less self-absorbed. After that Tebow writes that readers should put in the work necessary to live a more godly life (7), open their eyes to what is going on around them (8) and live in generosity with open hands (9). Finally, the author looks at how God flips the script of the expectations we tend to have (10), how we need to go back to the well and depend on God and His strength (11), and make every moment of our life count for what most matters (12). All of this is told through the author's personal stories about his background as the son of American missionaries in the Philippines, his experience as a football player in college and the pros, and his struggle to overcome haters and to serve others as God would have us do.
As someone who appreciates what the author has to say about serving others and who does this a fair amount in my life, what I found most worthwhile about this volume was the way it described the life of a talented athlete seeking to live his faith while making a living through his talent. And the life of an athlete, full of agents and personal assistants and charitable foundations is not the sort of life I am familiar with. It is interesting to note the author's commitment to honing his craft and developing his faith and his struggle with large amounts of injuries as he faces over and over again in this volume. As I write this, the author missed the chance to be called up by the Mets in the big leagues because of an injury that has put him on injured reserve, and that appears to have been a trend. There is no question that the author has been able to overcome a great deal of pain in the past and has been a worthwhile two-sport athlete to be considered among the most notable in that regard, especially in recent years. As a straightforward book from someone who doesn't strike this reader as being full of pretense, this is definitely a worthwhile look into how the author lives a life of faith and wishes to encourage others to do so as well.
This is the day. Not yesterday, not tomorrow, it is today. This is about how important it is to live in the present time. Today is the day that matters, how you choose to spend it. Make it matter each day, one at a time and do it with passion. That’s what the book is about and Tim Tebow supports it with his life experiences.
Use each day to create memories. Don’t get stuck in the past, reminiscing about the past. It is up to you to create new memories. Take trips; spend time with those who matter in your life, make even more time for them.
“Some we just need a healthy reminder of what’s important – people.”
“Explore. Dream. Discover.”
It’s better to experience something in life, even if the outcome turns out not the way you wished for.
And always remember to follow your passion, what’s in your heart. The path of money, power, and fame may not be the right path as success is defined by majority.
“It’s important to be supported and to support others in the little things. Be present behind the scenes. Show up when the work is happening. Don’t just turn up for the party.”
“Don’t be afraid to take risk. Don’t let fear, criticism, or doubt cripple you from making a decision.”
Invest yourself in things that have value, be a problem solver, rather than just problem finder.
Don’t let life pass you by; make it matter with purpose and passion. Surround yourself with people who will motivate you rather than negate you.
Recognize your emotions, don’t let negative emotions from the past affect you to live at your highest level. The past doesn’t define you, but you can learn from it. You can discipline yourself and make changes in your life for better. You can thrive even in an uncomfortable environment. It’s all about willingness to learn how to do this.
“One of the greatest temptations is to worry instead of pray, trust God, and take action. Worry won’t change anything.” It is the trust and action that bring positive outcome.
Everything happens for a reason, trust God’s plan.
“Life is not about surviving. It’s about thriving.”
It’s not about brand, but it’s about your life. Make it meaningful.
“Never let success get to your head. Never let failure get into your heart.”
“What’s most important is living a life of purpose, meaning, and significance – something that’s possible even if you’re not thrilled with what happens between…”
I may not agree with each statement, for example playing with broken bones to show “determination to stick it out and fight” for the team. There are other ways to do it. But overall, it is a profound read. Tim is very honest in expressing his feelings and thoughts. If he has two choices and is not sure which one to pick, because he doesn’t hear God’s direction, he makes the decision based on what his heart tells him. And at the end, “Either God will grant them or He will change your desires.” So don’t worry about making the wrong decision. You will get on the right path eventually.
Tim’s statements are supported by his actions. And those actions speak much louder than words. This is why he is such a great role model with so many followers.
This is the first book I’ve read by Tim and I’ve never followed his career. I’m very impressed by this book, so I’m looking forward to reading his other books.
I’ve tried to keep this review as short as possible, but it only reflects how profound this read is.
I’ve been a sports fan my entire life. I’ve seen athletes come and go. I’ve seen well-respected athletes like Lance Armstrong disappoint their fans. And I’ve seen athletes who have been misunderstood and misrepresented. But I cannot think of an athlete who has been more unfairly treated than Tim Tebow in recent years.
Tebow is a two-time national champion, first-round NFL draft pick, and Heisman Trophy winner. The Tim Tebow Foundation has encouraged and enriched countless lives and brought hope to the hopeless. Yet this man continues to misrepresented in the media.
Somehow, Tebow rises above the finger pointing and banter and continues to make a difference in the lives of people. His most recent book, This is the Day, is a testament to this reality.
Twelve chapters inspire readers to reclaim their dreams, live with passion, and live for a higher purpose. The messages crystalize around the person and work of Jesus Christ and provide hope and direction in a world that is filled with confusion and broken dreams.
This is the Day is especially geared for student-athletes and young people. Some readers may not agree with all of Tim’s theology but they will walk away motivated and encouraged to live a meaningful life which glorifies the Lord!
I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review.
One of my bookish goals this year is to read more NonFiction books and since I'm new to this genre, I decided to read books about something I'm really connected to. And that is Christianity. I think this is the fourth Christian Nonfiction I read this year and honestly, I'm enjoying reading them.
I didn't know Tim Tebow that much before reading this book. All I knew was he was an athlete and a Christian. After reading this though, I feel like I've met him face to face and that's exactly one of the goals of this book, for the readers to know him. But not just know him, but KNOW HIM AS FOLLOWER OF JESUS. He wants us to see Jesus in him and in my opinion, Tim did a good job. This man didn't just show me Jesus, he also showed me what Jesus can do in my life everyday.
Tim shared so many experiences we all can learn from. Experiences that teaches us how to make the most out of today. Because today matters. Forget our past and move forward. Reach for your dreams NOW. Say the things you have to say NOW. And let those people you love know how important they are to you. THIS is the Day. Stop waiting and start moving.
Overall, 'This is the Day' is a perfect inspirational and motivational book for everyone. And I give it 4 stars. :)
This is the first book I’ve read by Tim Tebow. As a football fan, I certainly knew who Tim was. The description interested me, and I was excited to be chosen to be on the launch team with the publisher. Overall, this is an encouraging and heartfelt book written in a conversational manner. Tebow encourages the reader to stop putting off goals and dreams and become who God created them to be. This also includes being intentional in telling and showing love to others and focusing on the fact that people are what’s most important.
Each chapter begins with an inspiring quote, and Bible verses are used throughout. While this is a relatively quick read, there is a lot of information to consider. Tebow includes personal stories to reinforces the chapters. The chapters end with a “Make This Your Day” section with a situation and/or question to ponder. The sinner’s prayer is included at the end for readers who want to ask Christ into their lives.
The book is divided into twelve chapters, including “Get in the Game,” “Leave the Past Behind,” “Believe in What Really Matters,” “Live with Open Hands,” and “Make It Count.”
While these quotes may not be totally unique to this book, there are a number of wonderful reminders, such as the following:
• “You were made not just to survive today but to thrive in it.” • “Tomorrow is not promised. Make time and show someone you care.” • “The reality is that we can’t control everything.” • “Stop letting the past affect your present and your future.” • “God made this day. Even when times are tough, something about this day is good. There’s always a reason, however small, to find joy in this day.”
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, but I wasn’t required to leave a positive review.
Tim Tebow is the real deal and lives his life with a servant’s heart. This book is an excellent reminder that you don’t have to be rich or famous to be a positive influence in someone else’s life. All you need is an open heart and being alert to those around you. It doesn’t cost anything to be nice and helpful when the occasion arises. Something as simple as noticing a scared ‘newbie’ at the airport and guiding her through TSA and listening, really listening, to her story can make a difference.
As of this writing I’ve noticed a couple of viral social media stories: a young man who was walking overnight to his first day on his job was stopped by police who then gave him a ride and fed him breakfast. Then his boss gave him a car and the woman whose house he was working at that day started a go-fund-me that raised a lot of money that he turned around and donated a significant portion to a program that helps others. Another story about a white mom who adopted a black daughter that asked fb for help on how to style her young daughter’s hair and was blessed with help from a stranger has now caught the attention of the national media (I imagine an interview with Ellen is on the horizon). We seem to be starved for these seemingly random (or are they?🤔) small acts of kindness. I say all this to say that Tim Tebow shares his personal stories similar to these and to remind us that it’s not about us but how we can be used for a purpose as long as we’re willing even while pursuing our dreams.
This is the Day by author and sports figure Tim Tebow is a wonderful book. It is filled with encouragement and inspirational words to uplift and motivate readers. In his book, Tim challenges readers to search for joy, whether little or big, every day. The Bible says. In Psalm 118:24 ”This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” The author is just explaining how to do exactly that. He challenge readers to put life to that scripture daily. I have never read one of author Tebow’s books and was pleasantly surprised by his writing style. This is the Day is well researched, planned, organized, and written. Tebow’s style is easy to follow and flows effortlessly. Like coffee with a friend, I would drink up the stories in this book with enjoyment. I enjoyed reading this book and learned many insuring things. Using his own personal experience the author has written this book from a Christian perspective. He uses the stories of others’, too. It is a positive book for anyone and will help them turn their negativity around. It appears the main goal of this book is to encourage both Christians and non-Christians to change the way they may be thinking about themselves and/or their circumstances.
In this God glorifying book, each of the twelve chapters reveals how God worked in Tebow’s life. Even though we might not be aware, God is always there and always in control. He encourages readers to dream dreams, make goals, be intentional about doing things that matter, to have a positive influence in the world around them, and most of all to make today be the day to live a life of purpose, meaning, and significance. Wow. How is that for encouragement? Beginning each chapter is a relative quote from a famous person of note. Then the chapters themselves tackles relevant subjects among which are Listening to the Right Voice, Live with Open Hands, Put in the Work, Open Your Eyes, and Get in the Game. Each chapter ends with a section called “Make this your day”. Questions are proposed and suggestions given on how to apply the chapter's principle in today’s life. A self reflection question ends this section. Definitely leaves readers something to ponder. Acknowledgments, information on the author and Tim Tebow Foundation close the 209 page book.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone. Middle schoolers to grandparents would enjoy reading it and be inspired. They would be able to help encourage others, too. It would make a great small group or reading club book. Perfect for birthday or Christmas gifts. It definitely earned a 5 out of 5 stars from me. I received a complimentary copy of the uncorrected proof of this book and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own. flag
“Life is a gift. Each day is precious – and at times fleeting.”
We all want to reach our full potential, but we sometimes don’t know how. Finding the right motivation to keep reaching for our dreams can be hard. However, there are some key areas of our lives to focus on that can help us start on the path to our dreams today. Tim Tebow has accomplished a lot in his life so far and he shares the main tips he has used to help him succeed in This Is The Day: Reclaim Your Dream, Ignite Your Passion, Live Your Purpose.
As a Denver Broncos fan, I have also been a fan of Tim Tebow. I have most recently heard about him with the Night to Shine prom program he sponsors for teens with disabilities when they had one near us. As part of the Multnomah Waterbrook Launch team, I was offered to be a part of This Is The Day’sbook launch. The book is on sale in just a few days on Sept. 25, 2018. I was given a free copy of the books, along with a This Is The Daybracelet (comes with pre-orders of the book) in exchange for a fair review.
In preparation for receiving This Is The Day, I read two of Tebow’s other books – Shakenand Through My Eyes to give me some background on Tebow’s life. Both books gave insight into his career path as an NFL quarterback and how he dealt with the time being cut and not playing in the NFL. His faith is front and center in those books, as it is in This Is The Day. The book has 12 inspirational chapters, each with a life lesson and stories from Tebow’s life that applies to that lesson. He starts with making sure the people in your life know you love then and ends with making each day count. My favorite chapter was about listening to the right voice. We should make sure we only value the opinion of people who are worthy of evaluating our lives. While the book is inspirational and does have some great tips, it shows most lessons from Tebow’s life in a positive light and doesn’t quite seem real at some points. There were also parts of his life that were referenced to, but not explained, such as leaving baseball to play for the Eagles. A few times, it is assumed you already know Tebow’s whole story, so some parts wouldn’t make sense to people who haven’t followed his entire career.
I would recommend this book to Tebow fans (or at least those who know who he is) and those who want inspiration to chase their dreams. The book does offer questions to ponder at the end of each chapter so the reader can examine his or her own life in regards to that lesson.
This truly is an inspiring book. If you need a kick in the pants to get you off your duff and working on something of import...this is totally the book for you.
When I signed up for the launch team, I’ll admit I did it for selfish reasons. I barely follow football but know enough to get me in trouble; I knew Tebow had started playing baseball, but I kinda felt like it was a Michael Jordan-ChiSox rehash. Low expectations on that front. I signed up for the launch team because I know Tebow’s a Christian, and let’s face it, any red-blooded female would seemingly enjoy the cover picture. Ha!
I didn’t expect the book to be as inspiring as it is. Another one that wore out a highlighter, truth be told, and one that has inspired me to follow my passion—something I’ve put off doing for too long.
I particularly appreciated how each chapter addressed a slightly different topic, and had action items at the end for immediate application.
The writing style is super casual, and peppered with Bible references—which I think is great. I do think the writing could do with a tad bit of polishing, but I also read an ARC, so there’s that!
Certainly inspirational, and shares quite a bit about what Tebow is up to of late. This is his third book, as I recall, so if you’d like to know more about before present day, perhaps check out his other books. They don’t need to be read in order, and could defo be read each on their own.
I received a copy of the book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Cleanliness: Very Clean (Topics to consider: religion, semi-graphic injury, and death.)
This book is what I would consider an inspirational self-help religious autobiography. It's a fairly quick read packed with tons of motivational quotes, encouragement, stories of success, and even stories of failure.
Tim Tebow does not beat around the bush. This Is the Day is very straight-forward and touches on a lot of hard subjects.
There are tons of lessons you could get from this book. It teaches that a little change can make a big difference. "Life is a gift." So many things are taken for granted. Everyone deserves love and respect. People are more important than your own success. It's really not that hard to change someone's life for the better.
I loved all the stories from his life that he told in this book! He talked about the people he helped, the things he regrets, and even the devastating stories. These really motivated me to want to help others more!
The only thing I didn't like about This Is the Day is that it sounded quite boastful throughout. I'm sure he didn't mean it that way, but it really stuck out to me. Maybe that is just what a successful person's autobiography sounds like, though.
This book is absolutely perfect for Tim Tebow fans, and it's also great for people that want to learn how to take advantage of today. I definitely recommend it! "Life isn't just about one day. It's about this day."
~I was sent a free ARC of this book from the publisher for an honest review~
Make today more than just a day, or some day. THIS is the day- the day for you to live the life that fits your passion, dreams and purpose. As a reviewer who learned so much from this book, I can tell you what’s inside the covers, but it’s up to you, dear reader, to decide how This day is going progress for you. As author Tim Tebow tells us, “Don’t numb out.”
Tim Tebow is well known in the sports and the faith world. The word I would use to describe him is committed. He gives 100% to his athletic life and 1000% to his Foundation and 1,000,000% to his spiritual life. I would surmise that his book is like he is- honest, open, friendly, and approachable. He cares!
Each chapter is organized around a topic such as Say “I Love You”, Live with Open Hands, Flip the Script. Tim shares many of his personal experiences to illustrate his topics and provides plenty of positive and encouraging quotes. Some of his stories involve people he has met and ministered to with his Foundation and these are inspiring. I highlighted many parts of the book and I know I will go back and re-read and reflect on these thoughts.
I highly recommend this book. This book contains more than just a snapshot of a famous person and his memorable tales. Readers, this book may change your heart, reveal a hidden dream, or challenge you to finally set that goal. Remember…THIS is the day!
Review by my 16 year old son (he enjoyed this book):
This is the Day is a fun and inspirational read that will take you on an emotional, motivational journey that will leave you wanting to do today what you would’ve put off until ‘tomorrow’. Within these pages Tim Tebow shares some of his encouraging stories that made him who he was and is today. With each chapter he breaks down the main message he wants to convey and feeds it to the reader in a digestible format. After reading this book I feel, no I believe in what I can accomplish in a day, who I can serve, how I can share what I believe, and how to make today the day.
I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
Besides being a heismann trophy winner Tim is well known for his exemplary character. He is a motivational speaker who encourages those to get unstuck with their lives by saying "This is the day to show some courage...etc. I really enjoyed his book and found it very inspirational.
Thank you to Net Galley, Tim Tebow and the Publisher for providing me with my ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review,
I read Tim Tebow's last book Shaken and was so impressed with him. His constant use of his platform to glorify God, his constant work to keep himself humble, and his foundation work are the biggest things that impressed me about him. Before Shaken I only knew him as the quarterback who wore scripture on his blackouts and took a knee in prayer for scoring a touchdown. But that book showed me there was much more to him than I expected. So when I saw he had a new book available for review I decided to check it out.
This is the Day is a different sort of book than Shaken. This is a call to action and what Tim decides to write about and share is all designed to ignite a spark in the reader a desire to get up and do something. Shaken was more of a call to faith, to trust God even if the path He leads us down isn't one we could have predicted and calls our identity (or who we think we are) into question. Personally, I preferred Shaken.
I enjoyed getting more of Tim's personal story, specifically, his thoughts about transitioning from football to baseball and how the struggles that go along with that change have affected his faith and lessons he's learned from God. But it's always the personal stories of people he's met and those he's taken his personal time to affect for good that has the biggest impact. A few of those stories had me tearing up.
My biggest frustration with Tim's message is the "watered down" message about how to be saved that he shares in every book. If you read the entire Bible or even the New Testament Scripture or even just the words of Christ, you will not find "the sinner's prayer" anywhere within. I believe this prayer came about in an attempt to combat the theory that good works can earn you salvation. That is not taught within the entire Bible, the New Testament, or the words of Christ either. But we are taught that our actions matter. While we can never be perfect enough to earn heaven and there is no scale weighing your good deeds against your sins, you cannot read the Scripture and come away thinking that God doesn't care what we do. He cares deeply about what we do. And He's outlined in His Word what he wants us to do in order for us to be in a covenant relationship with Him. And certainly, He wants us to pray to Him. Certainly, He would love for us to ask Him into our hearts and call Him our personal Savior. But things don't end there. If you're curious as to what more Jesus has called us to, I'd love to discuss this with you, but more importantly, I'd direct your attention to God's Word where He can tell you Himself what His plan is.
This is the Day wasn't quite as good as Shaken for me, but it did motivate me to continue making the steps forward on starting my Etsy shop. This is the Day gets 3.5 Stars. Have you read This is the Day? What did you think? Let me know.
This is the Day – encourages us to stop putting off our lives, our dreams, our goals, our enjoyment of being present; instead, Tim encourages us to embrace each day and live the life God intends for us to live. This book is easy to read and, while filled with lots of sports references [duh - ] that I didn’t quite understand, I found it to be very encouraging. I love that he shared Bible verses to remind us of what God says about us and that He has a plan, a purpose for our lives. Honestly, I know very little about Tim Tebow the sports personality, but this book helped me see how he tries to live his days with the intention of showing God’s love to others. And while his jet-setting lifestyle is so very different from my own I was also able to apply these same principles to my day-to-day life. “I promise you this: if you open your eyes to actually see people, you’ll begin to uniquely see certain people... Ask God to take the blinders of distraction off your eyes and show you people who need you. Then use the opportunity to help out, lift up their spirits, or guide them where they need to go.” The book concludes with this thought - "Each day tugs us in different directions.. . It’s easy to get to lose perspective. It’s easy to get lost. It’s easy to get wrapped up in whatever we’re trying to do or whatever we’re struggling with. Without constantly reminding ourselves of what God says is most important, we’ll stumble around, void of purpose, never leaving a mark on this world. Each day requires us to go back to the well. That’s where we find truth. That’s where we find comfort. That’s where we find hope. That’s where we will always be reminded that as believers in Jesus we serve a God who is always working behind the scenes, all over the world. “ I want to be a part of that don’t you?
This was such an interesting book. I had never read anything by him prior to joining the launch team for This is the Day, and only knew him by his reputation. He has such an authentic writing style, though, that after reading this book I felt like I had met him in person.
This book served a double purpose (to me, anyways) – one being to tell about Tebow’s experiences and testimony, and the other being to serve as a motivational book to inspire readers. I liked hearing about Tim’s life and how God has worked in and through it. His faith truly shines through his writing, and it was such an inspiration to read about a celebrity who is that confident in sharing their faith. As far as the motivational side, he has some solid questions that force you to evaluate yourself and reflect on the challenge he has given you.
All that being said, I did feel like the double purpose was a bit confusing at times, because while his stories were encouraging, I feel like they often detracted from the motivational point a bit because my focus, anyways, was on the story. My other concern with this model is that the stories are used to help readers connect with the message Tim is trying to convey, but most people would struggle with that since his lifestyle as a celebrity and professional athlete looks so much different than the majority of the people reading this book. So while his stories about going up and talking to people and finding ways to be a blessing to them were inspiring, it was a little hard to connect them to my own life.
Overall, this book is worth the read. Tebow has been such a light for Christ while in the spotlight, and while not all of his experiences were relevant to mine, it was such an encouragement to read about how Christ is working through him.
This is the Day by Tim Tebow is an encouragement to believers to carpe diem through Christ essentially. Urging Christians to analyze specific areas that they face everyday, Tebow takes such issues as insecurity, regret, selfishness, or even normalcy and charges readers to view their present through the eyes of God and His will and the Holy Spirit’s leading in everyday interactions.
While the first half of the book focuses on claiming your day, the remainder focuses on making an influence in the lives of others if by the simplest of means. Through many personal examples, the author shows how the Holy Spirit can lead us to be a blessing in the lives of others (as well as our own), but also demonstrates how truly all things do work together for good. He also mentions that pursuit of such goals and lifestyle isn’t easy, and takes work grounding the premise in frank, yet hopeful light. All the chapters offer ample practical advice, and often present probing questions into the habits I’ve fallen into, though not necessarily sinful, does hinder/minimize our outreach through my lifestyle.
Tebow’s emphasizes that a relationship with God cannot happen without first accepting Christ as Saviour which is greatly pleasing to see him share the Gospel in its penultimate pages summarizing the reason behind all of these efforts. From the various stories, it is evident that hurting people are around us due from internal private matters to literal storms that disrupt lives and its reminder that minuscule moments of kindness can achieve great lasting effects was (for me), its most poignant. A short but substantial read, this was a thought provoking and motivational read to rejuvenate or inspire those around us to work towards a greater impact.
To be totally honest, I have never read anything by Tim Tebow. I really didn't even know much about him other than that he was a Christian professional football player, so this was my first introduction to Tim and his own life and passion.
After reading This is the Day, I must say I am very impressed by Tim. He is a young man of great integrity and heart. He truly walks his talk in his every day life and I think that's high praise for any believer. Tim loves the Lord and seeks to serve him in everything he does, work and play, professional and personal life.
This is the Day is a challenge to the reader to seek God TODAY. Not someday, not tomorrow, but this day. Each chapter of the book is inspiration to take action. What if you began working on changing some area of your life this day? What if you begin taking on injustice today? What if you stop putting off that hard thing right now? What if you forgive? What if you make that phone call, send that email, write that letter? What would happen if decided to start over? What would happen if you chanced your lifelong dream? These are the kinds of questions Tim asks. He backs each challenge up with examples from his own life and with Scripture, which I appreciate. This book would be great for group discussion or personal reading. It is suited to either adults or teens.
I received this book from Waterbrook & Multnomah through their book launch program.
Tebow wants his life to have meaning, to count for something good in the world. He could have squandered his professional football earnings but established the Tim Tebow Foundation instead. He takes an active part in making a difference for those in need.
Tebow wants our lives to have meaning too. He encourages readers to embrace this day, get out of bed and make a difference. This day is a gift from God and it is our responsibility to make it meaningful. Tebow shares many stories from his life to illustrate his encouraging teaching. He reminds us, for example, that failure will happen but wants us to keep trying. He also reminds us that what God says about us is much more important than what others are saying. He helps us persevere when obstacles come too.
He gives us an update on his life. When no team wanted him for quarterback he returned to his love of baseball, not having played since high school. He currently plays for minor teams associated with the New York Mets.
I recommend this book to those who have followed Tebow's athletic career. You'll get a good update on what has been happening to him in the last few years. You'll find out about his foundation and its work. You will also be encouraged to see each day full of opportunities to make a difference.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Tebow's This Is The Day takes off with an intro that quickly dives the reader into a place of solemn truth with an overall positive message and outlook. Tebow doesn't relent in dishing out stories of his personal life and experiences with the objective to mentor hope and faith in anyone so inclined to listen, so that This Is The Day rings true with a message that reverberates and resonates on a deeply personal level with anyone not satisfied with their current status, but willing to make a change.
There's much wisdom, humility, passion and strength in this book that is rarely seen, which adds to the book's camaraderie, inspiring trust and endearment from any reader willing to appreciate and learn from the nuggets of wisdom offered. Add humor and teary elements to the mix, and you have a book that's a winner.
This Is The Day is for people who want change but need encouragement to take the leap.
This Is The Day is for folks who believe that change is possible and want to hear from someone who's tasted and tested the element of said change.
This Is The Day is for people of faith, who believe in love, and are not afraid to hope.
Being an Ohio State fan, I did not cheer for Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow when he played at Florida, but I did admire his talent and his faith. Since his college days, Tim Tebow has become a strong voice in the Christian community through his verbal testimony and his actions to help those in need. The Tim Tebow Foundation, according to its mission statement “exists to bring Faith, Hope and Love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.” A major event for the foundation is Night to Shine The event is an unforgettable prom night experience for people with special needs ages 14 and older. In this well-written book, Tim shares some of the beauty of this event. This inspirational volume is filled with the experiences of Tim Tebow but it is not all about Tim. In fact, I found myself being impressed with the humble nature of Tim’s reflections on his life. His prayer life, love for family, drive for success, baseball career after football, and successes and failures in being sensitive to the needs of others all combine for a challenging book on surrendering today to the Lord. As the Christian chorus declares, “This is the day that the Lord has made.”
