When we last left Beth Frasier, she had unfortunately let her guard down and was turned into a vampire. Beth was trying to become human again by having her creator destroyed, but while killing the wrong vampire she gets herself into a pickle by deciding to save her boyfriend from dying -- by changing him, too.

Now Beth is back and ready to not only turn herself but also her boyfriend, Clayton, into humans once again. That is, hopefully, before Clayton decides that he needs to kill Beth.

Of course, not everything is going well since the head cheerleader, Tamara, is still getting on Beth to decode the prophecy, which tells them how to walk during the day. Kevin, the college guy, is beginning to hit on Beth... Who can resist a college guy who is also a slayer? Little incidents begin to happen which leave Beth in situations where she is almost dead. Her parents, who can't stand each other, are beginning to talk once again. Clayton is beginning to be very secretive and just may be plotting against Beth. And so Beth just possibly may not have a date to the dance.

What totally puts a setback in Beth's plans on solving all of these problems is when she discovers two secrets that can, and will, change her life forever.

Being a teenage girl isn't so great, especially when you are a teenager and everything is against you. Yet, Beth Frasier still finds time to be funnier and wittier than ever. GOOD GHOULS DO is the perfect follow-up to Julie Kenner's previous novel, THE GOOD GHOULS' GUIDE TO GETTING EVEN.

And the HUGE cliffhanger at the end only leaves the reader wanting more... and hopefully there is more.

This sequel to The Good Ghoul's Guide to Getting Even takes up right where the first book left off. I think you could read this one without reading the first, but it would be a bit confusing as I had to re-read the last few chapters of the first book again, to recall exactly what had happened.
In this story, Beth has been forced by circumstances, to change her boyfriend, Clayton, into a vampire, like herself. She isn't sure where this leaves their relationship as she expects him to be angry and for about half the book she believes just that and suspects him of trying to have her staked.
While I still like the voice of Beth and enjoyed the story, I really don't care much for the cliffhanger type endings, particularly since this book came out on 2007 and the next volume hasn't arrived yet. I don't like that so much and it's a disappointment that nothing was resolved in this book and more mystery piled on.
Having said that, I'd like to read more in this series, so I hope that the next book is on the way.

The second book in the Beth Frasier series leaves a huge cliffhanger and with only two books currently published, I’m left wondering what will happen next. We find out who Beth’s maker is, but his death does not give Beth or Clayton their humanity back. We are also given a glimpse into a potential triangle between Beth, Clayton and Kevin the vampire hunter.

This book focuses mainly on Beth’s fears that Clayton is trying to kill her so he can regain his humanity after several attempts are made on her life. Beth is also trying to make the formula that will allow vampires to walk in the sun. Though there is some minimal progress and success, it’s not what she or the other vampires were anticipating.

We see more of Beth’s father in this story and are given the news that Beth will be moving in with her father while her mother is in Paris, France for several months working.

Overall, this was an OK story that has some potential to be a really interesting series. I’m still curious to see where it will take me next so I will be looking for the next book when it is published.

Better than the first book but it ends off in a cliffhanger that isn't resolved. You find out who Beth's maker is but don't really get any answers.

Would round up to 4 stars, but decided to go down instead because of huge cliffhanger and no follow up book.

Beth Frasier's goal in life was to get good grades in high school and get into a good college, not to become a vampire. But she had no choice, nor did she have a choice when she turned her boyfriend Clayton into a vampire. Now, besides working on her grades, she is trying to find her "master" since the only way she can became human again is to kill him. She's also being hounded by a group of vampires who want her to invent a formula that will allow vampires to go out in the sun without being harmed. As if that weren't enough, someone is trying to kill her and she suspects it may be Clayton. Even worse, midterms are coming up!

"Good Ghouls Do", the sequel to The Good Ghouls' Guide to Getting Even, is an enjoyable young adult novel. Despite the premise, the novel is mostly humorous. Beth is a nicely done character, who misses the things we take for granted like being able to go out for a hamburger and fries. Her friends Jenny and Clayton are also nicely done, although I'd like to see Jenny be a little bit more involved in the story besides being Beth's sidekick. Author Julie Kenner does a pretty good job with the vampire aspects although she sometimes stretches things too far. For example, she has Beth's parents be divorced and workaholics so that they don't notice the changes in her, but that didn't work for me. In fact, I was getting annoyed that most of the adults in the novel remain clueless, but towards the end Kenner does a good job of explaining why. She doesn't do as good a job of explaining how Beth is able to get blood to drink in the beginning part of the novel, surely hospitals have strict rules as to who is allowed to take blood. I was left with a few questions at the end of the book, but this novel is part of a series and perhaps the questions will be answered in future books. The end of the book feels a bit rushed, even the cliffhanger, which could have been a bigger bombshell if written better.

Flaws aside, "Good Ghouls Do" is a pretty good book.

I finished the 2 nd book in this series but after finishing it, seems like she was going yo write book 3 but never got around to it.

I rather enjoyed this book as I'm a huge vampire fan & all. Its about s girl named Beth Frazier who gets turned into s vamp from s football player. The last book ended with her killing her would be maker. However after killing him & her not turning into a human again clearly that wasn't her maker.

Thinking she was safe from having to make a dsywalkibg formula because she kills the jock bothering her about it, she forgets about having to make one. Then her world gets turned upside down after she gets demands from the football players to people trying yo kill her.

At first she thinks its her boyfriend because things just seemed too perfect after overhearing a conversation. Later finding out it was ancient vamps instead. They try killing & isn't till she drinks her own blood that she finds out she's special.

Her maker ends up dying but not by her plan so now she's stuck as a vamp forever. Beth's ok with that because she hes her boyfriend back.

It ends with s cliff hanger making us wonder if she finds out various aspects of her life. I enjoyed the book & I love how they change things about vsmps in every book genre like this. All in all I would totally recommend this to s friend they will enjoy this book!

Beth is still stuck as a vampire. She gets shot with an arrow but it misses her heart. She also breaks up with Clayton, believing he was the one behind the attempt to destroy her. Within a short time there's another attempt to kill her.

Kevin tells Beth that Clayton, her supposed boyfriend, is out to kill her, then he kisses her. Meanwhile, Jenny is doing research to help Beth figure out who at their school is a vampire.

There's another attack on Beth, and it's a vampire that tries to kill her. Kevin saves her again, and explains to her that here are two vampire camps; the more modern thinkers and the traditionalists, and they are having a war. The traditionalists want her dead because they don't want her discovering something that would allow vampires to walk in the daytime and act like regular humans.

Some guy named Renault kidnaps Beth. He's a traditionalist. Beth figures out her maker is her Latin teacher, but things don't go well when she confronts him. She's almost killed, he is, and she's now stuck as a vampire.

At the same time, Renault refers to her as the “empress,†bows to her, and leaves. Beth also finds out that her father is not really her father, making matters even more complicated for her.

A good book, I think actually better than the first volume.

Light, quick read. I did like this book, but I really hate it when they end in cliffhangers. I've had these books (1 & 2) for over a year, but I've been waiting to read them until the next book comes out. The author's website has said that it was coming soon for about this same length of time (a year). Finally I decided to post them on PaperBackSwap so I hurried up and read them. I enjoy Beth and Jenny's back and forths and the humor is one reason I liked these two books. I think the voice of Beth sounds like a 16 year old. Or at least what I can remember about being that age! I also enjoy Clayton and Kevin, but wish we'd seen more of Clayton in this book. I hope that the next book is available soon!

Cute, fast read. I was sad when Beth thought that Clayton was trying to kill her; but then again communication it not something teenagers are good at. I really like Kevin, and hope to see more of him in the future. Her bestie is wonderful and I adore their friendship. I was surprised, but not surprised that her Latin teacher ended up being her maker. I was more surprised that Clayton was able to kill him by accident which happened to make it impossible for Beth, and therefore Clayton, to stop being vampires. Beth being the talisman that therefore being able to walk in the sun was surprising. And what is this "empress" business? I am definitely looking forward to more of Beth and her adventures.

In this sequel to The Good Ghouls’ Guide to Getting Even, Beth Frasier has even more to deal with than just being a vampire. Her boyfriend, who she had to turn to save his life, may or may not be trying to kill her. If he kills her, he goes back to being human. She knows he really likes her, but does he like her enough to stay a vampire while they search for the vampire who made her...

Beth is still a vampire after killing the the vamp she thought was her master. Now she has to find out who her master really is, and continue to try to discover the formula that will allow vamps to walk in the sun. Oh, and there are "traditional vamps" who are trying to kill her and she still has to keep her grades up. All in all, she is a very busy gal.

This series is turning out to be way fun. There is action and romance, a smart main character with a group of friends anyone would love to have. I am looking forward to the next one.

I enjoyed this book even more then the first book. I think this is a cute little series. The book is fast, short, and sometimes a little irritating at times. I think the biggest fault I had with this book was with Beth going back in forth between whether or not Clayton was going to kill her. By the end of the book you are left wondering what will happen. Especially with the whole cliff hanger. I hate cliff hangers now I either wait for the next book if one has been written or just make up my own idea of what will happen to Beth.

Another great book by Julie Kenner. I am a fan of her Demon-hunting soccer mom series, so I thought I would give the Ghoul book a go. Despite the fact that it is clearly aimed at a younger audience, it has the same magic as the "grown up" novels. If you are looking for a light-hearted read that will make you want to believe in things that go bump in the night, I recommend you spend a few hours curled up with Good Ghouls Do.

This was a fun book, but I knew who Beth's master was long (looong) before she figured it out. It was truly a bit too obvious that it made it strange that she couldn't figure it out herself. And I did find the part with the Traditionalists to feel a bit disconnected from the rest of the text (it seemed that the book could have worked just as well without it), but it does seem like it's setting up the next book, so it'll be necessary for that. But all in all, I did enjoy reading this one.

So I read the first book and it was OK. This the second was way better than ok. I think the problem is she should have had 1 & 2 be just a single book. I read a lot of series books. As a matter of fact I prefer series books and the combination of these two books seems like one. I'm going on the internet next to see if there is a book 3. I loved the second book so I guess if you are going to read it you have to read book one first. I hope you try.

I reread this, because it just didn't seem as if I had read it before. I was a chapter or two in before I realized that it was not only something I had read, but something that was worth reading again.

It started with several problems, and solved a few. It also opened a few more during the telling and left a few hanging for the next tale.

Vampires and vampire hunters, high school and first love. It makes for an enjoyable light read.

A fast, fun read, although mildly irritating. I know that Beth is 16 years old, but her constant going back and forth on whether or not Clayton was killing her was stupid. As was her mentioning to Jenny that Clayton was "barely" her boyfriend, and then later she mentions she loves him even though they'd only been going out for a month. Grrr.

I'd read another if one is written; it was left open at the end for more books. However, I don't think there has been any more. :(

This one was not as good as the first one. It's was also a drag at times. Plus it ends in cliffhanger and there's no book coming (coz it's almost 8 to 9 years since this book released).
As much as I liked the heroine in the first one, she was annoying in this one. Her friend Jenny is nice as she was in the first one.
Not really an interesting one. Even if the third installment do come, I am not really keen on reading it.

Yes, fun and cute, but I can't help wishing this had been fleshed out a little more--eveything seemed a little too shallow and rushed. I take it there will be more to this series, but I'm not sure I'll actually bother to finish it; the characters and situations just don't really have enough depth to keep me interested.

Here's a vampy book with a twist. It happens (as in CHOMP! and then wake up a vamp) to a book-smart highschool girl. No sex and crazy violence in this series. (this is book number two). Just funny quirky characters and self preservation. Totally a beach read - fun and light.

I definitely liked the second book, quick pace and surprising ending. Left me wanting more, quite the cliff-hanger at the end!! I assume she will write a third book in the future although no hint yet on her website. Very fun series.

Sillier than the first in most ways. The romance stuff was very lightweight but had some genuine moments that women would recognize. Overall story pretty lame. But the main character is still charming somehow and it has a good cliffhanger, made we want more.

Absolutely loved this story. Highly recommend it for young adult readers. Very clean. No huge cussing scenes or hot & heavy interaction between characters. Definitely worth a read and I wish I could get my hands on the first in the series.
