in the heartwarming conclusion to The Amish Bachelors series
Widow Clara Fisher’s late uncle promised his farm to her—but she can’t find the documents to prove it! Desperate to stop her Englisch cousin from selling it, she seeks the help of auctioneer Paul Bowman. Paul’s always been a wandering spirit, but will sweet, stubborn Clara and her children suddenly fill his empty life with family and love?
I was born and raised in Northcentral Kansas. I'm a farmer's daughter, but I now make my home in the city of Wichita. I'm an RN. Neonatal nursing has been the main focus of my career. What can I say? I love babies. I was invited to the highschool graduation of a baby I took care of. Talk about making me feel old!
In June of 2011 I became a widow after my husband of 36 years and 11 months died from multiple brain tumors. It was a very sad time, but thanks to the three f's, my faith, my family and my friends, life is moving forward. I have four brothers, one daughter and two grandchildren who all work at making me feel loved.
I'm the author of more than 30 books and I'm currently writing a series called The Brides of Amish Country for Love Inspired.
Clyde the matchmaking basset hound and his sidekick Juliet (a raccoon) are back along with eccentric Aenti Charlotte! And I do love Charlotte -- there's wisdom cloaked in the outrageous things she says, you just have to read between the lines. And how can you not love a woman who speaks both dog and raccoon? So glad this trio made it into the grand finale of The Amish Bachelors series!
I'm going to miss these Bowman brothers/cousins and their extended clan. These folks know what living in community means and the way they rally around Clara and her children just melted my heart. With Paul leading the way, much to his surprise, because he's the happy-go-lucky-never-more-than-three-dates kind of fella. But there's something about Clara that threatens to turn his life upside down if he's not careful.
Clara's serious nature is the perfect contrast to Paul's ready wit and carefree attitude. The way he teases her! The banter is divine -- a combination of wit and tenderness so you don't know whether to laugh or swoon-sigh. But as much as I loved their romance I fear I spent most of the read seething and spewing not very nice things at a certain character who is evidently up to no good but we can't prove it. That plot thread kept me on tenterhooks right to the very end.
Davids has given the Bowmans a spectacular sendoff. I'm giddy and weepy all at the same time. But no worries if you haven't read the other five books in the series -- you'll still be able to thoroughly enjoy this one...and I bet you'll be hankering to play catch-up once it's all over. I might just re-read the whole series from the beginning.
Patricia always writes great Amish books. This is another great one. She comes up with great stories, and before you know it you have finished the whole book.
His New Amish Family by Patricia Davids. Widow Clara Fisher's late uncle promised his farm to her when he died. Clara wasn't at the farm when he passed. She was away at hospital for a while for her sick daughter. When she returned there were locks on the doors. Her cousin claimed he has the papers showing her late uncle left the farm to him. Now he is trying to sell it and get her out of the house. An auction is planned. The auctioneer is Paul Bowman. He goes to the farm to get a list of everything there. Paul gets involved with Clara and her two children. Since Clara can't prove she owned the farm he plans to continue with the auction. A very good read.
I can’t believe I’ve finished the series. I’ve seen all the bachelors married. I’ve gotten to know the families and live them. Such a wonderful series. Thanks Patricia Davids for all the entertaining from 7 terrific reads in the series. (Note, there are 7, not 6, in the series. Goodreads is missing the Amish Twins story when I went into their information. I especially liked Aunt Charlotte who appeared in the last two books. Got to love an Amish lady with a matchmaking dog, Clyde and a raccoon, Julia. Charlotte has a big heart and she is so lovable. So go read all seven of the books in The Amish Bachelors. Read them in order for the best enjoyment. But also, keep in mind that they are all stand alone books.
This was a quick sweet read. I read it in one night and was so glad when Clara finally found her proof. The romance was very light and the story was heartwarming.
His New Amish Family is the 7th book written by Patricia Davids in her Amish Bachelors series. This story is so fantastic Ihated to see it end. The storyline offers the readers a great mystery to solve. The story moves along quickly keeping the readers interest. There is friendship, love, family, and faith all rolled into this story.
I enjoyed the characters in this story because of the friendly and loving attitudes that they show. The author has done a wonderful job creating her characters and their roles in this story. Clara is strongwilled but very forgiving and loving. Paul is carefree or he thinks he is, Sophie is a sweet as apple pie even with her serious illness, and young Toby is a doting brother. These characters tell an amazing story. I learned a lot about a devastating desease. The author has definitely done her research to write this story.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached by anyone to post a favorable review. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.
Congratulations to Patricia Davids for writing another fantastic story for her readers to enjoy. I look forward to reading more books from this author in the future.
I thought that the subject matter in this one (Crigar-Najjar syndrome) might make it heavy and angsty, but Davids keeps it light and enjoyable by inserting the dog, racoon, and crazy aunt from the last book into this one, too. The kids also kept things pretty light, in spite of the little girl being so sick most of the book.
I also wasn't sure I would like the hero - Paul Bowman is kind of a self-absorbed, 'big-kid' kind of man who thinks everything is a joke and doesn't really appeal to me. I wasn't sure how I would enjoy a book about a man like that, or how there could be a developed chemistry between him and a widow with so much weighing on her (death of an uncle, eviction, dying child, etc). But it really worked, and was a sweet book.
I'm so glad the series ended with a happy, enjoyable story.
I think this was a good end to the series, and I enjoyed seeing all of the Bowman brothers, plus their cousin Mark, seemingly having a solid foundation to their young families and marriages. I liked both Clara and Paul, and though their initial meeting was not under good circumstances by any stretch, I appreciated Paul's openness to finding the truth . . . whether Clara was being honest, or if her late uncle had changed his mind about the ownership of his farm. That whole mystery came to a head in a way that I hadn't quite expected! I also found it fascinating that the author once again used her experience as a nurse and wrote a character (Clara's daughter), who has Crigler-Najjar Syndrome. I thought that particular storyline, and how it played into what was going on with the farm's ownership was very interesting. 3.5 stars
Good book by M's David's . Clara, a widower with two children, one having special needs, had been living with her uncle. Her uncle promised Clara and had his will changed to leave Clara his farm after he dies. Clara needs the money to pay for a life saving operation for her young daughter. Her uncle passes away and her cousin Ralph produces a trust giving him the farm and leaving Clara and her two children homeless. Ralph hires an Amish auctioneer , Paul Bowman . Paul is single and has just started an auctioneering company. Paul finds himself caught in the middle of Clara and Ralph while Clara disputes the trust. Paul Ends up struggling with feelings for Clara and their children.
A child with a life threatening liver disorder, transplant needed, money to fund it...what will the outcome be. A cousin whom is English or the mother of the sick child will receive the uncles farm inheritance. Truth and lies...will the unmarried Amish auctioneer realize he can settle down, or will he always remain a three date maximum man? Find out by reading this awesome story written by Patricia David's. I loved all the characters, including the animals in this story. I am anxious to read all the other Amish Bachelor series by this author. It was a book you did not want to put down.
Young Clara Fisher inherited her uncle’s farm only to have a greedy English cousin trying to steal it from her. Clara needed the farm with her youngest having an inherited disorder disease that was costly for treatment. Auctioneer Paul Bowman had agreed to sell the farm for the English Cousin before meeting Clara. Young Toby and Sophie tugged on Paul’s heart and he enjoyed having them around while getting ready for the auction. Will the missing papers showing the final will and testimony of Uncle Eli for the farm? There’s plenty of adventure, suspense, struggles and romance as readers connect with the various Bowman family members in Bowman Crossing in this final book of Patricia Davids series The Amish Bachelors.
I really enjoyed this story about Paul and Clara. The author features a very serious medical condition for young child, Sophie, Costa's daughter. She did a great.job of covering the feelings a parent and sibling go through during a time such as this. Paul is an excellent character and the conflicts he suffers are interesting. There are many sides to this story which makes.it intriguing. There's mystery, fear, faith, life changes and more. Add a set.of animals, children and a quirky older lady and it's a hard to put down story.
Auctioneer Paul never stood a chance when he met Clara and her two young and adorable children whose farm he’s just been hired to inventory and sell. My heart went out to the Amish widow whose daughter has Criglar- Najjar Syndrome and is being forced from her home by an Englischer with bad intentions. Equally sympathetic is Paul who needs the auctioneer job to pay off his bank loan and feels he must continue with the sale because he gave his word. I learned a lot about Criglar-Najjar syndrome and how it disproportionately affects the Amish community and really enjoyed the intrigue and romance in this story. I’m sorry to see the Amish Bachelors series come to an end and highly recommend it.
Clair cannot believe this is happening; her cousin has coming claiming the farm their Uncle Eli told her would be hers, has been left to him. And he plans to auction it as soon as possible. Paul Bowman has wanted to be an auctioneer for a long time and thus auction could be the answer to some of his prayers. But when a disputed arises between flair and her cousin about ownership of the property, Paul starts to have second thoughts. Add in Claire's two children, one of whom has serious health concerns and a lot of Bowman relatives and ...Paul begins to rethink his own life. A goid read!
I liked that this story was almost a suspense. I thought it was good how the main characters started out not wanting to work together and then realizing that it would be better for both if they did. I really liked this story and I am glad that we got to peek in on some of the other characters that we had already met before.
Clara faces many hard obstacles in her life. She has a very sick four-year old daughter. She has been visiting her mother when her uncle dies. Her cousins claims her uncle has deeded his farm to him. She searches for the proof and truth.
This may have been my favorite of the six books! Clara and Paul are so good for each other. I wish there was one more story to come out of this tiny community.
