I don't normally like novellas or short stories, which is probably why it took me so long to listen to this book but I actually enjoyed it. I have read a couple of books by this author which is why I gave it a go in the first place, I did find it a little bit hard to work out if this is the first book in the series of which book is next because she has several series on the same theme but with a slightly different series title. Although it did work as a standalone because the author goes into just enough background detail to make the story easy to follow and entertaining. The case does get solved but although not left on a cliff hanger as such it would have been nice to know which book came next, to find out what happened next. I liked the characters and the idea that a witch has to work for the police department in order to investigate and solve the local paranormal cases, although the witch taking the lead in this book is a teacher. It's not a normal solve the case kind of book instead you just have to sit back, let it unfold and enjoy the magic.
Noelle is celebrating just having taken care of the black witch and the Christmas time loop, when a fanatic mother comes in crying over a missing boy. The police just think he has wondered off but When Noelle noticed the size of the footprints she knows it is no ordinary case and one humans can solve. Noelle can't help but get involved, especially as his teacher, she knows the young boy. Can she and her friends find him before it's to late and what does his disappearance mean for the town of Yew Hollow.
I liked the narrator. She gave each character there own voice and brought the story to live with her own magic.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
