Maddie Mason isn’t desperate. She’s simply tired of waiting for the universe to deliver her Mr. Perfect. So she’s turning to the dating website she created, MisterGoodEnough.com, to finally find her future.
Online matchmaking is perfect for Maddie, because:
a) History has proven she’s a poor judge of decent husband material. b) The dating pool in her crumbling little hometown is all but dried up. c) She wants babies.
Trent Sawyer is not Mr. Good Enough material, because:
a) Twelve years ago, he stomped the stuffing out of Maddie’s naïve little teenage heart. b) The man might look good in a tool belt, but she’s sure he’s up to something nefarious. c) He doesn’t want kids. Ever.
But if Maddie were to fall for a guy like Trent, it would only be because:
a) When he apologizes, he apologizes big. b) He’s fixing their little farm town, one dilapidated home at a time. c) Her world is a brighter place with him in it.
So should Maddie:
a) Go for Mr. Second Best and the family she’s always wanted? b) Take her Mr. Almost Perfect without the babies she craves?
Either way, there’s nothing simple about settling for Mr. Good Enough
Jamie Farrell writes humorous contemporary romance. She believes love and laughter are two of the most powerful forces in the universe.
A native Midwesterner, Jamie has lived in the South the majority of her adult life. When she's not writing, she and her military hero husband are busy raising three hilariously unpredictable children.
Mr. Good Enough is by Jamie Farrell. If you have given up on finding the perfect guy, is it okay to settle for just good enough?
Maddie Mason lives in the tiny town of Wendell Springs that is slowly dying, one house and one business at a time. She and her best friend and business partner, Gina, have a web design company. They also have started a dating site for those that have given up on finding Mr. Perfect and are ready to settle, MrGoodEnough.com.
Maddie is turning thirty years old. Her biological clock is ticking away. She wants babies, she just can’t seem to find the right man to provide her with them. So she decides to put her own profile on the web site. The problem is that every man she meets she measures up to her Mr. Perfect from high school, the boy she once fell in love with and the boy who broke her heart.
Trent Sawyer had a horrible childhood. He had an alcoholic abusive father and a passive mother who never really even cared. His Aunt and cousin were the only good things in his life. But his cousin was gone. She died of cancer so as soon as he graduated, he left. Twelve years later, circumstances have brought him back to town and when he stops at his Aunt’s house to see her, it’s not his Aunt Linda that greets him but Maddie!
“I’ve spent the last eight years fixing up old mansions for people with too much money, and then I come back here and find the whole town needs fixin.”
The town Trent has come back to is not the town he left. Businesses are failing, buildings are falling apart. And so is his life. He knows he hurt Maddie once but he needs her now. He needs her friendship and support. Can she ever forgive him enough to stand by him now?
“There was a reason he couldn’t stay away from her. She was his gift from the universe, and it was up to him to make sure he didn’t screw this one up too.”
As Trent helps to restore parts of Wendell Springs, Maddie, her family and some of the people of the town just might help to restore what has been missing from Trent all these years. He feels hope and healing for the first time in a long time. And he is falling hard and fast for Maddie.
Whenever Maddie is around Trent, she can feel her ovaries thumping away. The problem is, Trent does not want children. So does she give up her dream of children for Mr. Right or settle on Mr. Good Enough and a house full of kids?
“He felt right, as though she’d finally been given what she’d waited for her whole life. As if everything that had ever happened to each of them had led up to this one perfect moment.”
I love the way Jaime Farrell mixes humor with heartbreak. Maddie is crazy, quirky and hilarious as she stumbles and bumbles her way through life, trying to find her way. And Trent, “sigh.” From his first appearance on the page, I was in love with him myself. As a boy he had so much pain but as man, he has spent all his time trying to hide from his own past. With Maddie he sees a future full of happiness and love, if only he can convince her that she deserves more than just Good Enough. That he can be her Mr. Perfect.
Loved this! If you're thinking of going by the book cover, with its light CR feel, think again ( the hero has blonde hair for goodness sake! Lol ). Was it funny? Yes! Was it romantic? Yes! Was it light? No...it was a heartfelt, sometimes sad and beautiful story about having the courage to go after what you want, not just what looks good at the moment or what would be satisfactory. I can't believe this book doesn't have the attention it deserves. It was so well written, so touching and intelligent. But mainly, it was lovely in every way! Maddie has been in love with Trent since high school. Her naive dreams were dashed then, by a cruel blow from Trent and even now almost 12 years later, she remembers the agony he put her through. Living in small town Illinois, Maddie and her bestie, Gina have come up with Mrgoodenough.com, a dating site dedicated to finding maybe not Mr. Perfect, but the next best thing. Things are moving along like always until Trent strolls back into town after abruptly leaving right out of high school. It's been many years, but isn't Trent supposed to be dead?! Yeah, you read that right! Trent was supposed to have died a few years after he and Maddie graduated, but he's back, looking as good as ever. So, while Maddie is trying to find Mr. Good enough will she be able to see the perfect man right in front of her?
Although this may sound like a run of the mill love story, it is far from it. The plot is much more intensive than that, there are many other things going on and although they center around Maddie and Trent, they also add richness and depth to an already fantastic story. Trent is fighting demons and dealing with a past that's finally caught up with him. His story broke my heart. Even when I was mad at him I knew he was going through some serious issues so I didn't hold him too responsible. He was a beautiful, sexy man that went above and beyond to show Maddie that she was 'it'. His gestures, the attention to who she was were so moving and touching. His realizations and growth were believable and freeing. Maddie wasn't the shy and naive girl from high school and I loved seeing her spunk and attitude towards Trent. I thought she pushed her issues a little too far with him towards the end, maybe putting her expectations above what truly mattered, but she saw the error of her ways and I loved her even more for it. This was a different, funny, hard to put down romance that showed the insecurities we all have when it comes to being who you are and finding that someone that loves you the more for it. It's easy to pretend, easy to hide, but with the right person you don't have to. My only issue? I wanted an epilogue! I just didn't want this to stop. Highly recommend this and I'll definitely be checking out more of this author's work, loved it!!
Mr. Good Enough by Jamie Farrell was a really heartwarming contemporary romance story. I read the book summary and thought I knew what I was getting into. When you read enough romance books you start to see trends and at the beginning of the book I thought, “I bet it is going to go like this….” and then it didn’t. It was better.
In Mr. Good Enough we meet Trent Sawyer, the town’s high school basketball star and Maddie Mason, geeky girl who had a crush on Trent in high school. They are all grown up now.Trent left town for reasons you will read about while Maddie stuck around. In the opening scene Trent is back and boy is the town all up in arms about it. After all, they all thought he was dead…
There is so much going on in this book with many of the characters it is hard to put it all into one review without giving things away. Why should you read this book, though? Because it is a real love story. Real as in things like this happen in life more than some stories we read to get away from reality. It’s almost like this book is someone’s reality. It isn’t the super flashy, over the top, sexy romance story, but a solid one that you feel good about and can really relate to.
Trent and Maddie screw things up a lot. They say the wrong things. Do the wrong things. However, they do these things to protect themselves and don’t we do that a lot in the real life? Yes. And surprise, neither of them feel good enough. Relationships in real life aren’t fixed because of a few apologies and neither are they in Mr. Good Enough. I felt so hopeless for Maddie and Trent at times. I cried with them both. But, I watched them get up and put one foot in front of the other and figure out how to fix things with each other and their family the best they could. They both surprised me how much they were willing to give up for the other person once they finally were brave enough to be vulnerable to one another.
Jamie writes a great story set in a small Midwestern town. Her characters are what make the story. Not just Trent and Maddie but the rest of the people in town. They all have their issues and it was entertaining to read about them and see how they all fit together. If your emotions can handle a bit of a rollercoaster, you will be rewarded with a very sweet happy ever after. If you are looking for a good, solid contemporary romance to read, I recommend you try Mr. Good Enough.
Jamie has done it again with Mr. Good Enough, she grabs your attention from the very being and it doesn't stop. I wonder how many of us has thought as Maddie did, will we settle for good enough or will we wait. Waiting seem to take forever so maybe we should just settle for “Good Enough” if we want to have a family.
Maddie’s clock is ticking her eggs aren’t as young as they use to be. If she wants to start family she is going to have to find a husband soon. Her and her partner have started an internet dating site, no one is looking for Mr. Perfect just Mr. Good Enough. Someone that can be your friend, who you can stand to be around, you do not have to love them, just someone good enough to have a family and spend the rest of your life with.
In walks Trent Mr. Ex Prefect, who grew up with Maddie and Maddie adored. Trent broke her heart back in high school. Trent had a bad childhood, he left town to out run his pain, his parents and his past. Trent comes home to settle a few things he finds out he is dead and whole town rises up. Can he out live his past, help his aunt and somehow meet Maddie in the middle.
Maddie has something Trent wants but could Trent have something Maddie wants? When they get together sparks are sure to fly. Maddie just can’t seem to get Trent out of her head but her eggs are drying up and Trent isn't willing to give up his swimmers. Can they settle their differences and find love? It seems she is going to have to settle for Mr. Good Enough but will they be good enough?
Red Hot Alert: Reminder To Self: Do not eat or drink when you are reading one of Jamie’s books, somewhere along the way you are going to read and spit whatever is in your mouth out. As I stated on Jamie’s first book I will glad read anything this lady writes. When you have her talent mixed with humor you have one hell of a read. This is another 5+ star for the author who is down to earth, caring and lovable lady which shows in her writing. Jamie writes from the heart about today issues, that most people sweep under the rug. She adds humor which makes her writing totally believable. Her books could be about you, me or anyone. You can see the care and loving she puts into her writing. Jamie has a way of grabbing your attention from the beginning and carrying it all the way through her books. There is never a dull moment in any of Jamie’s books. Each of her characters are fun loving and there are always a few you want to slap around. If you haven’t read Southern Fried Blues make sure you pick up a copy, it is well worth the read.
I wonder if there will be a spin off on Gina and one of Maddie’s date. I somehow see them together I think they would be a good match. I think Gina needs a book of her own, she gets bored easy. I think she needs a man to look up to and make her walk the line lol.
I totally loved this book but wish it had not ended. Jamie has a way of leaving you at peace with the ending but you wish it would go on and on.
Maddie Mason is single and lives in the same small town she grew up in. A good man is hard to come by, and she's realistic enough to know that she's probably not going to find Mr. Perfect. So she decides to settle for Mr. Good Enough, using the Internet matchmaking service she and her partner, Gina, have set up.
Trent Sawyer and Maddie have a history. And not a good one. He broke her heart in high school and Maddie has never quite gotten over it. When Trent shows up back in town out of the blue, he takes everyone by surprise. After all, he's supposed to be dead. At least, that's what his dead-beat dad told everyone. Trent had a way-less-than-perfect childhood and is back home to try to deal with his past so that he can get on with his future.
Trent and Maddie's lives quickly intersect and the sparks start flying. Romance ensues, but is Trent the husband material Maddie's been looking for? Or is he something even better than she could ever imagine?
Jamie Farrell's newest novel is a quirky romantic comedy sure to touch the heart strings. I loved every word!
I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book. I always enjoy Jamie Farrell's books because they never fail to touch my heart. In Mr. Good Enough, we meet Maddie and Trent. They both have their inner struggles and insecurities but help each other along the way as they discover that they are not only "good enough," but perfect for each other. One of the things I loved about this book was how each chapter began with a multiple choice question. I thought that was a brilliant touch and went hand in hand with Maddie's website. Mr. Good Enough truly tugged at my heartstrings. I laughed, I cried, I LOVED it!
Okay, y’all… (Wait. Did I just “y’all”? I totally blame this book. Anyway.) You remember how much I ranted and raved about Jamie Farrell’s first book, Southern Fried Blues? I adored it. I wanted to crawl right inside that book and live there, especially if I got to be Anna Grace. Well, Mr. Good Enough certainly left me feeling the same way. I love Farrell’s work because everything is so real and down-to-earth. I love her strong female leads, and her sexy southern boys. This book definitely warmed up this Canadian girl over a cold weekend! I have to explain my 4.5 star rating – I just want to read more. I want to know what comes next for these characters! It’s hard to say goodbye.
Maddie Mason is a cute and quirky gal who’s recovering from a broken heart and searching for someone to settle down and make a life with. Everything about her is unconventional for her little town. From her purple streaks to her funky paint colours, and her internet business – not to mention her ‘single’ status. The townspeople think her web based matchmaking service is the devil’s work. Maddie and her business partner Gina need a success story to prove to the town that their services are helpful, and Maddie needs a man. Mixing business with pleasure makes complete sense …right? I mean, it’s not like anyone’s ever heard of that being a problem in the past.
Trent Sawyer left this town runnin’ and never looked back. With an abusive father, a neglectful mother, and a dead best friend he sure didn’t have much to stick around for. His parents didn’t want to admit that he’d ditched them for a better life, so when someone with the same name died somewhere else in the country, they told the townspeople it had been their son – the hometown hero, star of the basketball team, “Swish Sawyer”. Needless to say, it’s more than a bit of a surprise when he shows up in town after getting some bad news.
Trent made a damned fool of Maddie in highschool. She’d thought he was the be all and end all, and he had made her feel so insignificant that she’d never really been able to get over it. But Maddie is a lovely and kind person, so of course when Trent shows up feeling sorry for himself and needing some help, she agrees to help him. After all, he’s got no one else. When Trent starts to show a little more than friendly interest in her, Maddie’s old feelings flare to a new fire, but she isn’t sure she can forgive him. Not only do they have to deal with their past, but they will have to have a serious talk or to about the potential for a future.
So you should: A) click over to Amazon and buy the book. Read it for yourself and see how it all turns out. B) the answer is A.
This week, Jamie is offering up Mr. Good Enough for $0.99, save $3.00 off of the regular price. Get it while it’s hot!
Oh where to start…lol! I am going to preface this review with saying that Jamie and I are virtual friends on facebook, through another friend, so I am potentially a tad biased ;) A couple of weeks ago, Jamie (the author) asked me if I would be interested in reading her “super seekrit” project (her words not mine) – and of course, being the sucker for good books/writing, I said yes. It wasn’t long before Mr Good Enough arrived in my email and I eagerly sent it to my kindle. Then I realized I needed to savor it, because who knows when her next book is going to be released and she does enjoy torturing us fans…and I will admit that it wasn’t easy. I was trying to ration myself to only 10% or so a night, to make it last…but that totally didn’t happen…
Mr Good Enough reminds me so much of me at times – while I am still happily single – some days I wonder if I will ever find Mr Perfect/Almost Perfect, or will I end up settling for Mr Good Enough. I really liked the whole online dating scenarios in the book – considering the amount of these that are around nowadays (and some stats say that 1 in 5 relationships start online), it surprises me that there are more aren’t using an online dating trope.
But it wasn’t just the whole storyline that I enjoyed – it was how the characters seemed so real – from Maddie with her paint quirky-ness…(and really, purple icing on a cake…reminds me of a mutual friend that Jamie and I share)…and as for Trent – i’m always a sucker for the bad boy turned good – who struggles with his past, even if its many years later. there is just something that makes you want to reach into the pages of the book and give him a big hug (or take other liberties).
Overall, I gave Mr Good Enough 4 stars for a quirky contemporary read.
Every once in a while a book comes along that just gets everything right in an almost unexplainable way. This is one of those times. I'm not even sure where to begin there was so much that I loved about this book. While the focus was on Trent and Maddie the secondary characters grabbed my attention almost just as often. I sort of developed a crush on Maddie's brother Parker and can't help but hope that maybe there is a companion novel in the works, or maybe even plans for a series that will feature each of the Mason brothers? *crosses fingers* I loved Ruby and her interfering ways, Hunter and his aggressively religious rants, Gina and her caffeine induced crazy, grumpy Sherriff Joe and even nearly comatose Aunt Linda. Each of them lent an important peice to the story and helped create a clear portrait of Wendell Springs. Trent and Maddie's story was both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Most importantly it was completely believable. Trent's transformation from guilt-ridden & bitter to thoughtful & selfless was sweet and very swoonworthy. Maddie's artistic and unique personality was fun and her love for family and the town was perfect. This was so much more than a love story though. It was a story of second chances, family, community, forgiveness and acceptance. I cried, I laughed and I was disappointed that it had to end. I'm still holding out hope there is more to come for the Mason's in the future. Until then I do see myself reading this one again and again.
*I receive an ARC from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review
In this day and age of internet dating sites, Jamie Farrell created a hilarious version with a new twist in Mr. Good Enough! She presents us with a small aging town (with secrets of its own), a diminished dating pool, foiled dates, romantic dates, a clicking biological clock, a lifelong crush with a broken heart, as well as a hometown hero returned from the dead! Trent, the hometown hero, struggles with the hurts, losses, and trauma from his past that he has never been able to let go, or make a recovery.Maddie, turning 30, was crushed by Trent in high school, desires a Mr. Perfect, but would settle for a Mr. Good Enough, or so she thinks. The struggles these two have faced and are working through separately and together, are situations real to life, however Ms. Farrell infuses their stories with humor, deep emotion, family strength, and the bonds of friendship, as well as love.
I enjoyed asking my Mr. Right the Mr. Good Enough website questions! We had a good laugh. I hope you will enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed it!!
Mr. Good Enough is by Jamie Farrell. It was a funny romantic book, but what made it stand out were the emotional ties you felt to the characters. Maddie wants to be married and have babies. She has this antiquated idea that this will make her parents think she has accomplished something. Trent left years ago from a family who considered him worthless. As a teen he managed to break Maddie’s heart and now he is back.
I liked the set up of the book with the survey questions starting every chapter. I loved how Maddie’s family was able to see the good in Trent even when he was struggling with Maddie. I loved how Jamie Farrell set the story up so that Maddie and Trent both had to accept themselves first and realize that there is no reason either of them should accept Good Enough.
“Someone who would see past her hair and her house, someone who’d accept her and love her unconditionally for who she was, for who she’d always been.” (Location: 4558, Kindle ed.)
Another totally enjoyable read from Jamie Farrell!
Won this book in the First Reads Goodreads Giveaway.
Now, I'm a sucker for a good ol' romance. Which is exactly what I got here. Only better. I have to say that this book is a lot better that "Good Enough". Forget good enough, this is perfect. Jamie Farrell has some serious talent, judging by this book.
The book had me laughing from the acknolwedment page! I think I drove my family crazy with all the laughs, chuckles, giggles, snorts and secret smiles they saw and heard while I read this book.
Maddie, who I have to admit, is a little bit mad, and Trent are absolutely perfect together! I also loved the fact that Maddie didn't settle for "good enough" and instead chose perfect. I loved how Trent grew up ad became a real man despite his past. I LOVED what they did to Ruby's bathroom! It was hilarious! I loved everything about this book, and that's really all there is to say.
If you are looking for a great book that has romance and comedy than this is a great book for you! When Maddie decides to start a new website for people looking to find not the perfect match but someone to comfortably spend the rest of your life with she certainly didn't think she would be the one signing up! While the dating pool isn't exactly the best out there, she should be able to find someone! Throwing her hat in the game she sets out to find her match! When an old flame comes into town she is thrown for a loop and wondering if could she really settle for good enough! If you haven't read any of Jamie Farrell' s books this is a great one to start with!
I have to start off by saying that I usually only give 5 stars to books that bring out my emotions - whether it is laughter or tears. This book made me both laugh AND cry. The characters in this book where wonderful. Maddie showed a lot of spunk and spirit. Trent was a great guy, though he couldn't see it for himself. The other characters were fun and heartwarming. I found I could relate to the characters and felt a great deal of empathy towards Trent and his aunt Linda in particular. I cried almost non-stop through the last 3 chapters of this book. Which even for me is a lot. I highly recommend this book if you want to read something that will make you feel good at the conclusion.
I absolutely loved Maddie and Trent's story. I was hooked from the moment I read about purple cows in the kitchen, something I've loved since I was a year old! It starts with an intriguing idea, a website set up by Maddie and her best friend Gina calked MisterGoodEnough.com. It's set up yo match people with someone who is good enough, if not perfect, for them. Maddie decides to be their first success story by going on dates herself. Instead of settling for one of those men, she falls for Trent, the boy she loved in high school. I loved the quirkiness of the characters and the town. It was a fantastic story with a great happily ever after. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.
I was given this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It made me laugh and cry as Maddie and Trent meet again after many years of Trent being gone. Maddie has created a dating website called Mr.GoodEnough to help people make matches that may not be perfect but "good enough" to date and maybe end up marrying. She tries out her own website since she hears her biological clock ticking. It's very interesting to see how Maddie and Trent work their way through past misunderstandings to see if they could have a future.
WOW! I could not get enough of this book. Jaime Farrell can weave an emotional story with incredibly heart wrenching drama and flair and this one left me in tears on more than one occasion.
Twelve years ago Trent Sawyer left Maddy Mason's heart shattered by his thoughtless comments in front of class mates. Now he has returned from the dead to their small farm town just to turn her life upside down once again. All she wants is to prove she deserves a good man to marry and have a family with before her biological clock dries up but it seems fate just won't cooperate. It's pretty sad when even her own dating website isn't working for her.
Trent has returned to the one place that was little more than a nightmare to him growing up. Abused, neglected and abandoned by the people that should have been his everything, he returns to find the aunt that loved him through it all has also turned her back on him. If his own blood can't love him he is sure know one else would find him worthy of love. But it doesn't change the feelings he is developing for the one quirky woman that he doesn't deserve.
Can two troubled, misguided people possibly see what is right in front of them before it is too late?
An enjoyable story. Maddie Mason has a problem - her biological clock is ticking away, and she is desperate to have children, and for that you need a man! But the dating pool in Wendell Springs is very small, and she knows them all too well. Then Trent Sawyer comes back to town, she had adored him in high school but he had turned her down in a horrid manner, and her adoration had turned to hate.
Fate conspires to keep pushing them together, and she keeps being awful to him, but they work well together. Then an awful thing happens, and Trent is on hand to save the day. It is a defining moment for Maddie, and leads to a lovely happy ever after.
This is a good novel. It is not as polished as her later books, but her trademarks are there -- a good amount of humor and lots of snark from a well developed heroine.
This is another fun, highly enjoyable tale from Jamie Farrell, although if I’m honest it’s probably my least favourite, but only because the other books were so very, very good. This one has all the hallmarks I’ve come to expect from this author – the whole book is funny, the situations the characters often find themselves in are highly amusing, the characters themselves are well drawn and really interesting – yet there’s an added solemnity to this one that meant I liked it a lot rather than loved it.
Maddie is not your average romantic heroine. She has a crazy taste in clothes, tends to paint her house all kinds of weird colours depending on her mood (when this book starts her front room is in mourning), is tech-savvy and smart, and has given up on finding Mr. Right, because all the guys she tried in the past turned out to be wrong, wrong, wrong. She’s smart, compassionate, impulsive and funny, even if she doesn’t always know what she really wants.
Then there’s Trent. Boy, does that man have issues. In fact he’s the reason this book is frequently more serious than I expected from the blurb and cover. He’s a regular little gloom cloud – for various reasons and some of them are good too. He’s spent twelve years running from himself and his past, yet when he returns to his home town he finds himself wanting to fit in even as he wants to run away – it probably doesn’t help that the town reacts to him in the same way, torn between keeping him and running him out.
On top of those two is the crazy town itself, with its decaying houses, its fierce campaign against the dating website (including some fierce religious opposition), a battle to be mayor and Maddie’s numerous brothers. It’s all very warm and fun and more than a tad eccentric, but it fills the whole story with inescapable charm. There’s plenty of scope for more, though as yet there doesn’t seem to be any signs of further books, which is a shame because Maddie’s best friend left me more than intrigued.
Sweet and funny and crazy and charming, this book couldn’t be by anyone other than Jamie Farrell. If you’re a fan you will definitely find plenty to like here. If you’ve never picked up one of her books before, then you’re in for a real treat. Few do small town romance and their characterful communities better than this.
This was a fun read. I must admit that my sister has been trying to get me read this for weeks. (I detested summary but here goes) Maddie lives in a "small" town in Illinois that has a Mayberry feel to it. Well it is small and like Mayberry if Mayberry had it's own high school and a hospital. Maddie his a hometown gal who everyone knows. Her dad is a minister, her mom is a doctor, and her brothers are popular. She couldn't come from a more well adjusted family. Back in high school Maddie had a crush on Wendell Springs shiniest sport star Trent. Trent hardly notices Maddie. Of course they both went off to fulfill their education goals Maddie came back to Wendell Springs but Trent is killed in an accident. 6 years after the obituary was in the paper Trent reappers and stirs up Wendell Springs and Maddie's emotions. (ok toture is over) I loved Madddie. She is a quirky artist but not "the artist type" for pay she is a web designer and works with her equally quirky friend. Maddie is ready for the next part of her life to begin and she wants a husband and children but if Mr. Perfect is gone, she'll settle for Mr. Good Enough. At least settling is what she thought she wanted until Mr. Perfect a.k.a Trent turns up alive. Trent isn't the Mr. Perfect of Maddie's teen years. He wasn't perfect then either. Trent is all too aware of his flaws and the broken family he came from. He wouldn't presume to call himself perfect. But oh, he is so perfect. He is humble, generous, caring, knows how to fix stuff but not all stuff, and actually does fix stuff and helps people while he's at it. I just loved the characters and the town. I laugh and I felt sad for their heartaches. The author did a great job of bring every one of the characters to life. I will be reading more of this author's work.
This was one of my first reads by Jamie and I can tell you that it is not going to be my last. I love the way Jamie writes, it all just flows so flawlessly!! Jamie keeps pulling you along and you don't want to put the book down!! I did get some crazy looks by the hubby while I was reading this one and laughing out loud at several points. Love that Jamie mixed humor with romance and she does it so well.
Maddie is loving in the hometown that she grew up in and it is small which means all the good guys have moved away or are taken. Maddie does not want to settle for just good enough but wants to find mister right for her. I have to say that I am so glad that Maddie did not settle but kept on until she knew she had found her Mister Right!!
Trent grew up with Maddie and has been thought to be dead until he shows up one day our of nowhere and shocks the whole town. Trent has come back to help deal with his family, only to find out that his Aunt Linda is the only one left and she does not want anything to do with him. Trent does not want to accept this. He never in a million years thought that he would fall in love with Maddie because he never gave her the time of day when they were in high school together.
This book has a HEA and I am so glad that Maddie and Trent did not give up on each other. I love stories that have a happy ending. All of the characters in this story add to the humor and storyline and are very lovable, not just the main characters. Thanks Jamie for giving us a great read and I look forward to reading more from you!
I really enjoyed this sweet, heartwarming romance. Maddie is a spunky, single girl living in the small town she was born in. She is really starting to hear the alarm of her biological clock. She desperately wants to find a husband and start a family. She feels like she will never find her Mr. Perfect, so she decides to settle for Mr. Good Enough by using her matchmaking website she created with her friend. However, her plans hit a bump when her high school crush, Trent, returns to town. She always had feelings for him, but he wasn’t nice to her in school. But, Maddie has grown up, and Trent quickly notices the change, and sparks fly. Maddie soon finds out that Trent doesn’t necessarily want the same future she does, namely, children. She had a wonderful, loving childhood while Trent didn’t. Could Trent be her Mr. Perfect, or will their differences keep them apart?
This was such a sweet romance with really likeable, quirky characters. I loved Maddie’s parents and many of the townspeople. They made me want to be a part of their town. There is so much happening between the pages of this book, secrets, love, and wonderful family relationships. Farrell has a great way of mixing humor and heartache, and that is what makes this book so unforgettable. If you like your romance sweet with a bit of spice, try this one today!

This heartwarming small town romance tells us the story of Trent and Maddie. Trent has returned to his town to make amends, following the break up of a relationship whose demise was caused by his inability to tell the truth about his difficult childhood. Maddie, hurt by Trent's callous treatment of her as a teenager, is reluctant to trust him and his intentions in returning home. She has started a website, Mr Good Enough.com in order to find an acceptable husband and father to her as yet unconceived children - but she soon finds that what she is looking for might be right in front of her.
I really enjoyed this story. Plenty of humourous moments, delightful and colourful secondary characters, sexual chemistry between the hero and heroine, and poignant emotional scenes draw the reader in and make them feel invested in the eventual happy ever after outcome. Alternating points of view of the hero and heroine provide insight into the characters' feelings and personal motivations and provide many laugh out loud moments. If you are looking for a feel good romance, you will find it in this well written contemporary romance. 4 well deserved stars.

Maddie is someone you want to be friends with. She is kind, honest, and a little bit sassy. Maddie wants to settle down, get married and start a family of her own. The problem is she just had a birthday and feels "her ovaries are shriveling and her dating pool is too." Is she willing to settle for Mister Good Enough or will she find her Mr. Perfect?
Trent moved away after high school and returns years later. The problem is no one expected him to come back home. Is he good enough for Maddie or will she find her Happy Ever After with someone else?
This was the first book I read of Jamie Farrell's but it will not be my last. Mister Good Enough made me laugh starting on the very first page. I was also a little heartbroken for Trent- remember appearances are not always as they seem. But then Ms. Farrell pieced my heart back together again with her wonderful words.
I adored Maddie's family & friends! I hope to be able to read more of these characters especially Maddie's brothers- Simon, Parker & Connor.
