How to Love Your Wife

Rate this book
But because the majority of marriages in this country consist of unions in which wives are more heavily invested in marital success than are their husbands, much of this sensible effort by reasonable people needs to be consistently initiated and maintained by men. In fact, men often hold the keys to bringing about the type of loving marriage they had hoped for when they first said 'I do.' In How To Love Your Wife, Dr. Buri makes these keys clear, understandable, and accessible.

Along with the other review I wrote about Dr. John Buri’s other book, this is something I read during my time in university however I found the advice that he provided for stable marriages to be beneficial for my knowledge. One main point that I took away from How to Love Your Wife has to do with keeping love alive in relationships and marriages. Too often people get so caught up in the responsibilities of their lives (such as work, kids, household chores, and the like) that they lose sight of the wonderful romance that they shared in the beginning… and now they can barely recognize one another. I would be so heartbroken and saddened if this happened to me in my future marriage—if marriage is God’s will for my life. I consider myself to be a very romantic soul, and I greatly hope to embody that with the love of my life; with the man whom I have committed my mind, heart, and soul to before God. ✨

Overall, Dr. Buri is focused on helping couples put in the effort and work of maintaining a marriage every single day, and putting their hearts on the line through compassion, reasonable effort, and an understanding of the other person. I love how he talks about how life-giving a healthy marriage can be because that is what I would desire for anyone who is in a relationship looking to get married, or someone who is already married and wants to strengthen the bond they already have developed… with the person they once watched walk down the aisle to marry them. Love is the most important thing that ties human beings together, and Dr. Buri’s advice in this wonderful novel on how to nurture it over the course of many years is precious and timeless. Ultimately, in a world where traditional marriages are declining—and casual relationships have never been more common—life-giving, traditional marriages being revived has never been such a beautiful thing to hope for since it would first benefit individual souls, and then society!

Though it is a book that could be read in one sitting, I highly recommend that this book is read at a slow pace to fully absorb its meaning and how it relates to your life. It is a great book for men and women alike to understand the importance of communication in relationships with their significant other. A great, practical read for people who are interested in a serious monogamous relationship at any point in their life, or just want to improve how they treat loved ones.
