Rate this book
After months uprooted, the survivors of the Windrider clan have a home, a new village built under the guidance of Joseph, their human saviour and friend. Alas, peace is not to last as new dangers appear - unknown beasts savaging the woods and rumour of war stirring in the north. If they are to survive, all Joseph’s courage and the Windriders’ unity will be tested to their limits. The tale of Joseph, the Spirit of the Trees, concludes in this ultimate clash between old friends and older enemies. Joseph claimed his Identity and joined a Community, but will even these be enough to survive this Calamity?

This concluding story in the 'Spirit of the trees' trilogy is fast-paced and well-written, as were the first two instalments. Joseph, the solitary hunter, has finally found a home in the community of elves, and with Kaille he has found someone to replace Delia, his departed wife, for whom Joseph has brooded over since her untimely death.
Old enemies resurface, however, and the new, peaceful home the 'Windrider' clan has built is left behind as fighting erupts against a myriad of foes.
All in all, it's an enjoyable trip, from netherworld to mountain tops. Once I'd met Joseph and the others in the first book, I felt compelled to follow them to see how they ended up. Oh ... that ending is sad but sweet.
For enthusiasts of the fantasy genre this is a good one.

Exciting conclusion to Identity and Community making the trilogy complete. Engaging characters, descriptive world-building, and fast-paced action kept me reading until the end.
