Stalker is a sexy, slightly out of the box romance. It's not dark really, but it is intense at times.
Nick is finally out of prison and looking for a fresh start. He had been in for 5 years for attempted murder, thanks to a bar fight, one he didn't start or even want to be in, where the victim ended up almost dying. Now that he's out, his best friend is letting him stay with him and his girlfriend. It's through Curtis' girlfriend, Kim, that Nick will end up meeting the love of his life, Alexa. One look at Alexa and Nick is hooked. It's a bit of insta love, but the relationship developed organically, not so fast that my head spun or anything. But, when Alexa finds out that Nick is an ex-con, how will she react? Will Nick have to start stalking her to get her to see how much he loves her?
I really liked Stalker, especially Nick's character. He's got to be one of the sweetest, most loving souls in fiction that I've read lately. Kind of weird considering he went to prison for attempted murder, but that's just how he is. He's head over heels in love with Alexa, and he has no problems showing her. He doesn't think he's good enough for her, though, and that's where their problems stem from. Thank God Alexa saw through Nick's scary outer appearance, though, and realized how good they are together, because if it ended with them apart, I would have cried.
The only thing that kept this from a 5 star review for me was the abrupt ending. It's rather cliffhanger-ish and I saw nothing to indicate there would be more coming for Nick and Alexa, which is a shame, because I think their story has lots more to be told.
