Familiar, a magical creature of any kind that a mage channels mana through to perform magic or tasks. Familiars are all different and each mage can have only 1 and it can only be summoned in Magic Academy due to the preparation for this being in these locations. The age that these students obtain this is when they start their second year in the magic academy. The first year was purely to teach the students how to gather mana and improve their capacity as well as to weed out those without talent for gathering mana. The entire year teaches the students breathing techniques, meditation and teaches the basis of how magic works. With a year of training, the young man has gone from the weakest to one of the strongest with his evolved familiar, A Sword Devil.
When is the next book. I would say this is a epic damn series... I give five stars mostly because I like the story a lot but thier are some spelling and minor grammar errors but not hard to get past for anyone above a 3rd grade reading level so I say good game great story and look forward to the rest of the wildness.
I can see some people wanting to turn this into a hob series but it probably be ten years long
This particular series of books has caused me some fluctuations of thought. In one hand I particularly enjoy the story itself, the progression of the characters and the world is set in. But rather unfortunately both the previous book and this book have so many flaws in the writing that it does become quite problematic. An example would be some random mention of someone's head but it is written as heads. It's not that bad if it is occasionally that you see something like this. But I would say that I saw this at least once every two pages, sometimes many times on a single page. It got better with the second book slightly. I hope the author continues the series but I really hope that they have a good editor to get all of these typos out of the way.
The series is a bit rough if you can get past the typos and grammar errors it will take you on a joyride. The feel of the series to me was like all the best magical anime it had plenty of action the start of a harem and slice of life. Again if you can get past the glaring grammar errors you will find characters that you grow to love and want to succeed. It's not exactly litrpg though it shows up when you search for litrpg. There is no game mechanics but there is a clear leveling system, it's more organic than mechanical. If the series got a decent editor and proof reader I think it could stand toe to toe with the land or space knight series. I hope the author continues the series I want more. Another issue I have that reinforces the slice of life genre of anime is the main characters are all little more than 10 or 11 years old. A bit young for the violence and sexual innuendo. If the author jumped the age of the characters to 15 or 16 I think it would be alot better
The pacing of this book was much better and felt more mature in some ways(other than the obvious reason which really came out of nowhere lol) I look forward to the next book and possible time skips while training for the war.
Mr. Valerie is not a native English speaker but well trained, he needs to spend time with native English speakers in order to perfect his language skills. His word selection and construction is wrong and I had to constantly stop to re-read a sentence to make sense of it and he is constantly tripped up by words sounding the same but having different meanings. Admittedly he has improved greatly since his first book where except for the well thought out and imaginative story the book would have been unreadable because of the grammatical errors in practically every sentence, but this time around he has improved nearly 100 percent. There is plenty of room for improvement, but his storytelling about devils and demons and the people who partners with them is deeply disturbing yet also fascinating and I should not have enjoyed it but did, therefore I need to examine myself. Usually I am comfortable with magic only when it is energy that a few people can access and manipulate and have shied away from stories involving demons and familiars, these books by Mr Valerio are and should remain exceptions, but purely as a story I must say well done.
I seriously considered leaving a single word review that simply said "grammar", but while that would express my frustration with the book, it wouldn't address the parts I liked. Overall, this was a decent story, though if this book was read without having read the first one then this book wouldn't make much sense. I did like the character growth here, both for new and old characters, though some of that development was perhaps unnecessary. World building continued here which was nice, and we met more familiars, and even got a bit of foreshadowing of some interesting developments, all of which made future series installments also seem enticing as well. Our main character even grew a bit by asking for help a few times which was a nice change, but what we didn't see was interaction with all the younger students he was supposed to be responsible for. It was mentioned once or twice in passing, but it may as well have been left out entirely for all the impact it had on the story. I do however, look forward to more in the series, as this is an interesting world.
Story line is progressing well but really need an edit Lot of misused words, still seeing were used instead of where as typos Misused examples brother in law used then next paragraph uses step brother for same person (should have been brother in law), saw abolished used where by context should have been admonished. This type of error breaks up reading Will look at next in series but if issues still there will put to bottom of reading list and wait for better versions
The continuing story from the first book. It would have been nice to have a summary of what happened at the end of the previous book because it picks up right after the first book. It took awhile to recall what happened. I liked the story. The main character is still in school where stuff happens. The story does diverge is a few spots to tell what is happening with different family members. Looking forward to the next book.
This series is a great example of the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover”. Started the first book because I ran out of things to read and despite the cover looking like something out of a b list movie it was so good that I immediately purchased both books and plowed through this one. Really happy with the way the story is developing and looking forward to the next one as soon as possible.
I’m not a grammar Nazi, but lord, this book could use a good editor. Heck, even a bad one, run it through Grammarly even. Sometimes the sentence structure is bad enough that I had to pause and wonder, ‘now what is he saying here?’ I started this on royalroadl.com and like to see self-published authors succeed, but this just smacks of lack of care in his craft.
2.5 stars. So where to start. This is not a good continuation of the story. More like a 1.5 novel and not a true 2nd. It seems like there are too many disjointed ideas in the book. It's more like a rough draft. There are lots of words out of place and used wrong. This will need to have another round of editing.
Really enjoyed this series and the world created. There are a lot of spelling errors but I could get passed them and still love the story. Looking forward to the next book!
Book 1 ended a some seemingly random point. Here in book 2 it continues to baffle a reader with constant references to levels of monsters, golems, knights, dragons spells, mages, etc etc. So repetitive. Needs an editor and a translation into English.
This book is the beginning part of a tale of a bright young man who it turns out has a high ability with magic it just needs training. But lest not his family be forgotten for they to turn out to have magic.
love the story. the grammar would make most middle school teachers cringe. please take some courses on basic grammar. or just tell me that your a 13 year old kid who just learned English a week before starting this.
I love this book and have read it multiple times though there are multiple grammar errors. One thing I am sad and disappointed about is that the author seems to have given up on this series leaving me on a cliff hanger never knowing what will happen next.
I love this book and the basis of the magical abilities. The story is pretty good also. I would love to see more of this series come out. Only critique I have is some incorrect grammar and broken sentences in different places.
Hey. I loved this book as much as or more than the first. Been a while though. I hope for #3 is coming. Probably needs a good edit for English. If it wasn’t for this, would be 5 stars.
I love this book I can’t wait to read the next one!! There are some spelling and grammatical errors but the book is great and it doesn’t bother me, it’s just too good a book!
