Men of Meadowfall #3

Omega's Stepbrother

Rate this book
(Alternate cover edition of ASIN B078WFSJDQ)

Beaten and lied to by his previous alpha, Wyatt Fleming has been recovering from his past: by running his own restaurant, and being the best dad to his daughter, Hazel. No one knows his deepest secret: Nine years ago, he kissed his alpha stepbrother in the family's piano room.

Raph has never forgotten that kiss. Not when Wyatt had looked at him, wide-eyed and beautiful. Nine years ago, their grandmother caught him kissing Wyatt. Wyatt had fled, entangled himself in an abusive relationship. By not rescuing him, Raph had helped ruin his brother's life.

Saddled with guilt, Raph wishes he had fewer regrets: he should've stood up to Grandma, should've gotten himself out of debt, and stayed with the one omega he could never let go.

When their father throws a party, Raph finds Wyatt in heat. Their simmering embers kindle into a roaring flame; after a steamy night together, Wyatt discovers that he's pregnant. Raph refuses to fail his omega again. Wyatt refuses to abandon his innocent child. As their relationship intensifies, both men face the very real danger... of their family and pasts coming to pull them apart.

Omega's Step Brother is a 97,000-word alpha/omega nonshifter MPreg romance, with a hilariously adorable 9-year-old, some angst, lots of food, and an alpha who has loved his omega for the longest time.

This book did not work for me at all. Plot holes, inconsistent characters, implausible situations.
Warning - Spoilers ahead

Exhibit 1: A grandmother that is evil that appears to rule everyone via debt

Exhibit 2: The Parents who have to live with said grandmother due to their debt to her:

The Dad is Chief of Police and brings down human trafficking rings - yet he lives with mommy and is under her thumb because of debt. ** Scratches head **
The mom who has a collection (in a "cooled" room meaning a lot of $$$) of musical instruments.
Yet still in debt at 50+ and living with the mother-in-law

The evil grandmother (Exhibit 1) has emotionally abused the mom's son (the omega) from a former marriage since he was like a young boy. No action by either parent either to this. So you willingly let a boy/man you recognized as your son be abused for like 20 some years. Seriously?

Said Dad, Having received national medal awarded to him as Chief of Police did not know his son's former alpha abused his son. Though that former alpha is the father of his son's child and said Alpha's entire family appears to have been under investigation for human trafficking. What??? Also NEVER STOPS HIS EVIL MOTHER FROM ABUSING HIS SON. Again. What????

Exhibit 2: The Alpha - Raph

Raph apparently took out, from his grandmother, a $600K loan to go to college. He lives in CA. The most expensive school in the country is not $100K a year (NYU). His loan payment is $5700 a month. Seriously?????? This is so far beyond any sort of reality it's ridiculous. As far as I can tell the dude has a bachelors degree. He is a regional manager in Grandma's company. He's not a lawyer, doctor, nor does he have any advanced degree. Apparently none of these people have heard of bankruptcy.

Raph has lusted after his stepbrother (the omega) for years and apparently NEVER asks about him when that stepbrother disappeared at 18 after freaking out when the evil grandmother caught them kissing. Yet Raph is able to avoid his former sibling at EVERY get together that exists and not a single.family.member seems to think it's weird that two brothers - one of whom disappears and the other acts like he didn't know him - never mention or reference each other again. Right. Not to mention the omega also knows NOTHING about his brother (stepbrother, whatever) as if the two don't exist in the same family.

Then, Raph gets together with his omega stepbrother (they cannot resist each other and end up screwing within like an hour of seeing each over after no contact for 9-10 years) upstairs at a party (classy). They use the "pull out method" even though both know wyatt (omega) will likely get pregnant. They wait for the results of whether he is.

After getting back together with his stepbrother who has been emotionally abused for his whole life from the grandma (told he is worthless, a whore, all sorts of things) and from his former alpha (who has physically and emotionally abused the guy for their time together) he agrees when asked by the omega to not only hit him (a pregnant with his child omega) BUT also to spew vile, hateful things at him well well beyond humiliation while they are having sex. As if this sort of "BDSM" will cure the abused omega. Things like "I hate you" and "you are worthless" and so on --- to the point he crushes that omega emotionally, who has asked for this treatment because he needs THERAPY like crazy.

He then later abandon's that omega w/o any notice - turning up occasionally and mostly not responding to emails and such. He believes Wyatt when he tells him the baby is not his. Again, right. After being IN LOVE for many months. No evidence baby is not his. Bizarre.

Then you have these things:
-- The 9 year old sounds like a 60 year old
-- Strange phrases are used such as "send to you" which I think means "bring him/her home" but I'm not sure
-- Wyatt, The Omega - OMG. Don't even get me started. Needed THERAPY.

I cannot even. I truly cannot. These are not editing issues - the characters action are so inconsistent you hardly believe they are the same people moment to moment. The book is repetitive - there is a whole chunk of the middle that is the same thing over and over and over - Omega feels worthless, Alpha consoles him, go to restaurant, 9 year old spews wisdom, back to house OMG we are stepbrothers, lather rinse repeat. Things come out of left field all the time - people doing weird things, characters having strange reactions, just strange.

If I had not had to read this for a challenge I'd of DNF it at like 15%.

Excellent second Omegaverse book for me! 😊 Especially loved the Raph/Wyatt/Hazel family dynamic ... Hazel is an absolute HOOT! 😂 Also cherished Grandma's divine retribution ... and practically rolled on the floor laughing when Hazel poured her bottle of water on her to see if she would melt! 🤣🤣🤣 Really lookin' forward to reading more of this series. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Format: ebook

Perhaps it’s a me problem, but I really didn’t vibe with this book. At first I did a bit, but then issues that could’ve been solved a lot sooner dragged on and kind of soured my mood.

I also didn’t really like either Raph or Wyatt. They just bothered me in the ways they did things. They both just did so many weird, bizarre things that I don’t think were properly addressed. And they just had no business bringing another child into their mess. Wyatt was barely a functioning person, and Raph had like 2/3 of a personality.

Then there was how everyone acted about their relationship. While I love the forbidden elements of a stepbrother romance, this book took it way too far. Everyone was acting like they were blood relatives. It was really weird. They threw words like “inbreeding” and “incest” around way too much. And again, never really got properly addressed. Just kind of stopped mattering for the sake of the HEA.

The Max and Grandma plot lines were just way too much, and the way they both ended was just so…odd. Staring at the camera like on The Office kind of odd. Like what even did I just read?

I’m kind of bummed over this because I loved the first book of the series. I’m going to try the next one and just see if this was a one-off.

My Stepbrother’s Omega is the third book in this series, and this one definitely stands very well on its own. This is a non-shifter ABO-verse type of story, with mpreg, knotting, scenting and scent glands/mating/bonding marks, and UGH the chemistry between Raph and Wyatt was insanely hot, right from their very first scene togther.

Raph and Wyatt are stepbrothers - their parents married each other when they were both very young. As they grew into teenagers they were already attracted to each other, even knowing that it was wrong since they were raised as brothers, despite not sharing blood. Their Grandmother - the true villain in this story - is what forced their separation and most of the conflict through this story. She was just called Grandma through the whole story, which kinda made it hard for me to think of her as a threatening character to be honest (I just kept imagining a little ol’ grandma hahaha since she was never referred to by her first name) but she definitely had some major control over the entire family.

Of course, there’s some drama over both of them thinking that neither one is good enough for the other due to their own personal problems and pasts. When they were together, however, it was scorching and wonderful, it was when they were apart that the doubts started creeping in on both sides. There was a lot of back and forth over being together, not being together, in love or not in love, which I maybe could have done with a little bit less of. If they had just talked things out, there would have been a bit less melodrama.

Also...

I did love Hazel, Wyatt’s daughter - she was snarky and fun, without it being over the top, annoying, or not realistic. And their family, aside from Grandma, was wonderful too, once they got used to the idea that their sons were bondmates and going to be having a kid together. And we got to read about the whole pregnancy, so this book spans the entire 9 months as Raph and Wyatt figure out how to be together and make their relationship work. I LOVE when we get some mpreg that takes its time!

Love this series, can’t wait for more! I want Wyatt’s friend, Sam to get his own story! Highly recommended for people that like mpreg - go read the whole series if you haven't already!

The 3rd book in the series “Men of Meadowfall” just keeps getting better. Wyatt Fleming and Raph Fleming are stepbrothers, not blood brothers. Since Wyatt and Raph found out Wyatt was an omega their attraction for one another sizzled.

The first time they kissed the wicked grandmother caught them in the act and berated Wyatt and kicked him out of her house. The sad part about it was Raph tried to defend Wyatt, but Wyatt barely 18 years old was forced to leave and his parents didn’t even know why he left!

Wyatt kept secrets from his parents from that point on not wanting them to suffer anymore then they had from his step-father’s mother. She’s one heck of a bitch that can control everyone’s life because of her wealth and station in the community plus controlling assets of an Alpha Association.

Poor Wyatt, young and naïve, falls prey to an abusive alpha named Max and gets pregnant by him. Max leaves Wyatt once he learns of the pregnancy and the omega is left to raise his daughter Hazel alone. It was a hard life for Wyatt but he made something of himself with starting his own business.

Not only did the grandmother make Wyatt’s life difficult, but she made it a living hell for her grandson Raph also. Though Raph was in debt with the Alpha Association which in turn was his grandmother’s, she threatened Raph if he was ever caught with Wyatt again she’d make his life worse. Raph would sneak behind his grandmother’s back to find out some information about Wyatt’s life the best he could. Wyatt never showed up to any family gathering that Raph might be at so they hadn’t seen each other in years.

At a family party for their father as congratulations on the service award he was given as chief of police, Raph seeks out Wyatt once again hoping he was there at the house. Wyatt had shown up for a dip in the pool and then would head home to Hazel, but when the two met again nothing could cool the heat between them and even with trying to be careful Wyatt becomes pregnant with Raph’s baby.

Anna Wineheart weaves us a web of roadblocks for our young parents to be. The grandmother has Raph over a barrel with his huge outstanding loan and Raph is too ashamed as an alpha to admit his financial woes to Wyatt and withheld the information from Wyatt devastating him. Wyatt hates people who lie to him. He’s lived through the verbal abuse and lies from Max his ex-alpha, and those old recordings in his head that he isn’t good enough for any alpha just won’t shut off.

Now Raph has his work cut out for him to win Wyatt’s affection back but also Wyatt’s daughter’s Hazel affections too. The stepbrothers are in a precarious situation. With a well know father in the community knowing Wyatt and Raph are “brothers” and his family’s reputation, Wyatt fears what the public would say about Raph and his relationship, but worse would their children hear the ridicule.

Anna kept me involved in the story until the end with me sitting at the edge of my seat. I cried at the struggle these two wonderful men went through and how wonderful their family turned out to be with the news of them being together.

I loved the book and I would highly recommend it and the previous books in this series, though it can be read as a standalone. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced read copy of this book.

This was so good. Not as good as book #3, but I still loved it to bits!

I adored Wyatt as a lead. He's so tough and strong, even when he was so unsure of himself and his worth. I really admired him. Raph too, was a fabulous MC, secret and hidden debts aside. I loved them together.

I'm usually a bit on the fence about taboo-ish books like this one, but since they're not actually related I managed to root for both of them without issue.
What I did have an issue with, and that's the main reason I'm giving this book a 4 star rating, is *that* one sex scene: Wyatt has some unusual desires, and I absolutely hated that Raph wasn't comfortable with them and he still forced himself to through with it. I'm still not sure about that part of their relationship: it's depicted in a really vague and uncertain way, and even though I absolutely have no issues with kink and pain (the opposite actually: they're my catnip), it's still needs to consented to and negotiated. But oh well. That was a really minor issue and I still loved them both.

I also ADORED the side characters: Hazel was an absolute gem. She's the best. And I loved seeing Penny and Sam again, and the parents were pretty cool, all things considered.

I'm looking forward to reading more novels in this universe.

Omega's Stepbrother is the third book in the Men of Meadowfall series by Anna Wineheart. I liked the other two books in the series better, which is really too bad since I usually love a good taboo stepbrother story and I did like parts of this book. However, there was a lot of it that was over the top and unrealistic. Raph was a little spineless since he lets his grandmother rule his life and give up the one person that he loved. I liked Wyatt, but he hasn't had the best life growing up and ends up in an abusive relationship that he barely escapes from. He now lives for his daughter, that is until he goes to his grandmother's funeral and sees his stepbrother Raph again and it brings back all of his feelings for him. However, Wyatt has some serious self-esteem and self-worth issues that he needs to work through before he can be happy again. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this story and it had quite a bit more angst and conflict than the previous ones in this series. Wyatt has avoided Raph for the last nine years but it’s impossible at his father’s party, no matter how much he hopes it will happen. Raph feels as if he failed Wyatt and lets his feelings take over when he catches Wyatt at the party.

Wyatt and Raph constantly worry about how the other feels and no matter how much they tell each other how they feel they don’t really know how to show it. I really hated their grandma and how the family allowed themselves to be controlled by her instead of trying to break away, Wyatt was the only one who accomplished that and it only happened when he was thrown out by her (something his parents never seemed to know about…). While I liked the story I think there were just too many points of conflict and it caused for some to just be solved way to easily to bring the story to a close.

The book was good overall but too drawn out in places and the fact that they were stepbrothers was mentioned too frequently. We get it, you're stepbrothers, the repeated mentions of that fact made what I could overlook ( they aren't related by blood) increasingly uncomfortable due to the emphasis on it. If the main characters didn't repeatedly refer to each other as brothers and didn't think of each other as brothers, it would have been easier to read in my opinion.

This story has one only idea: Two men who are stepbrothers are in love but worry about what family will think of them as a couple. There are two characters who exist just to be villains: a grandmother and an ex. They are cartoonishly evil.
There is also quite a bit of darkness and self-loathing in one character that was uncomfortable to read, and I found the book a bit too long.
Typos: a few verbs are misused, and a few numbers are written with numerals instead of being spelled out.

There are a lot of pressures to consider when the one you love is close to you. Closer than society would ever approve of. Even though there's no blood relation between Raph and Wyatt there are a lot of people that would do more than just balk at any other type of relationship between them than brothers. Unfortunately they find the worst outcome to their young love and the consequences that follow are dire.

Wyatt was a young omega when he left home. From the time he was 14 and presented as an omega something inside him yearned for Raph, his older stepbrother. Raph took time for him, included him, and even liked him right back. But on the night of Wyatt's 18th birthday everything fell apart.

Their grandmother, a hag of epic proportions, caught them kissing in the piano room. That one moment pushed her to make life so untenable for Wyatt that he was forced to leave the family home. He ended up in the arms of someone who was almost worse than his grandmother who made it her mission throughout his entire life to make him feel separate, worthless, and alone. Pregnant and in the worst situation of his life he truly had to work his way up from nothing.

Nine years later he's at his family's home to honor his father's latest professional achievement and praying he doesn't run into Raph.

Raph didn't have it as bad as Wyatt but that doesn't mean he got off without any kind of negative consequences either. He's got a six-figure debt from his grandmother's loan for his education and a job he can't leave because she's his boss. He loathes her and regrets not being the kind of alpha that could stand up to an old harpy. Even more, he kept tabs on Wyatt's life and knew all the horrors he had to live through and he blames himself for not being strong enough to protect him. Punishing himself by staying away was all he thought he could do.

Now, after nine years, he's at the family home for the same party praying he runs into Wyatt.

A tattoo, a sudden dive into a pool, an un-suppressed heat, and an isolated room away from the guests bring about the moment that has been hanging in suspension for nine long years. Raph gives in to his rut, Wyatt succumbs to his heat. The consequences set them on a course that could bring them together, but only if they can stand up to everyone that seeks their separation.

With drama from the g-ma, debt, business, pregnancy, and a dangerous ex, not to mention all the turmoil between them as a couple, there's a whole lot going on. I think there was a few elements too many. Because there were so many things going on all at once there was a lot that drew Raph and Wyatt away from building a lasting, believable relationship. I think the story needed to be streamlined to find a focus rather than adding so many elements to keep the story interesting because it didn't actually add interest or suspense, it was just one thing on top of another and another and another that I lost patience quite a few times with the direction of the story. I also felt that the way Max and the grandmother were resolved was both dramatic and simplistic.

So, in addition to the issues I had with the unnecessary amounts of dramatic craziness going on there was also the incredibly serious issue with Wyatt's sexual needs. Being so messed up that his sexual expression was affected the way it was wasn't healthy. I would have no problem if that was his brand of kink learned through experimentation and trust but that was absolutely NOT the case here. He is in serious need of counseling for the trauma he went through and by asking Raph to participate in his shaming the way he did was completely unhealthy. This was totally not okay.

Overall, the story was pretty good when you took in the way that Raph and Wyatt really did create a good partnership. I enjoyed Raph very much, actually. His heart was so very good and he was patient, loving, kind, and earnest. He struggled with transparency a bit, but his heart was in the right place. The way he dealt with Wyatt's unhealthy sexual request was honest and hopeful. I'm glad that he tried to give Wyatt what he said he needed but then begged him to never request a repeat. He is really what saved the story for me and the reason why review sites will be rounded up from 2.5 stars to 3.

Read and willingly reviewed this ARC from the author.

Overall I really liked that Raph wasn’t a horrible and abusive partner (often in romance this is the case with male partners), Wyatt had his own life and financial means and wasn’t crying all the time (also very common in romance), Penny wasn’t mean, Hazel was pretty cool, and everyone more or less kept their own personalities. The book definitely needs some tweaks for flow, and some proofing, but overall it was wacky and enjoyable.

Same issues as the other books (clunky writing at times, odd phrasing (which sometimes might be a regional thing depending on where the author is from), a couple typos, some abrupt decisions/actions that are kind of non-sequiturs or very unexpected.

Again, be aware these books are basically soap operas (romantic dramas “chiefly characterized by tangled interpersonal situations and melodramatic or sentimental treatment.”). That’ll put you in the right frame of mind for them.

I wasn’t sure about a book with stepbrothers. It’s kind of icky. But maybe that’s how I feel because I have a couple stepbrothers and stepsisters. I don’t think it’s quite as forbidden as this book implies since when I was a kid my parent and step-parent had already discussed the possibility of any of us step siblings ending up together (like in an “it could happen *shrug*” way). I was also banking on the fact that no sibling in these books so far has ever felt sibling-y. It was the same here. I also think the author maybe does better with couple who already know each other. I struggled with book 2 despite anticipating I would love it.

Wyatt is 27, Raph is 31. They’re stepbrothers who have been into each other for 9 or so years. Their family is bananas, and they are too kinda. They both think of Penny as their sister (Penny is biologically related to Wyatt but not Raph), but don’t think of each other as brothers (but they will call each other brothers or siblings when called for to amp up the drama).

I appreciate the author mentioned douching even very briefly. It’s almost never mentioned at all in books. It doesn’t need to be constant but I think the practicalities of sex could definitely stand to be mentioned more. The author mentioned morning after pills this time, though the MC said he was allergic to them (which is rare but possible).

As I mentioned above, some things happen very out of the blue. Or, more like you know something is going to happen eventually (Grandma finding out about Wyatt and Raph), but the story transitions to it very oddly and abruptly just to get it to happen. It’s a little awkward for sure, but again these books are a straight up soap opera, which does the same thing. Again, I’m just happy people’s personalities are consistent. They’re not perhaps fully developed personalities for everyone, but no one abruptly changes how they act from one scene to another, which would be a dealbreaker for me. Illogical stuff in a soap opera is not a dealbreaker, it’s a feature. The repetitive sentences get to be a bit much at times (people actually rehash the same points 2-4 times in conversations sometimes).

I had to laugh out loud when

The other reviewers are right on the S&M sex scene. It was rough and not in a good way. I had to skim. It was ham-handed and under-negotiated and not good. It was a very uncomfortable attempt.

Ok, so far, in Anna Wineheart's omegaverse, this was my FAVORITE , and I think that's because, majority of the drama was external, the MCs vs everyone else ... or almost everyone else; there were a handful of supportive individuals who didn't lose it when they found out.

I actually liked Wy, he was less annoying than other omegas in this world. I mean, he pulled my BIG NO-NO too, but luckily it didn't drag on for 60% of the book, so we can chock that up to temporary insanity .

I liked Raph too, despite his never-ending pity parties

I REALLLY ENJOYED Hazel, and I gave mummy MAD PROPS.

~76% of this book I'd give 4.5 stars, DESPITE not really getting my kink juices flowing; I didn't really feel the "taboo factor" in this like I thought I would, but whatevs. 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

Soooo, eveything was going copacetic until:
description

This is how I feel whenever we get to the "climatic piece-de-resistance" with Anna Wineheart EVERY. FUCKING. TIME :

description

I'm like, wait... what???

img src="https://media3.giphy.com/media/YTN60e..." width="300" height="200" alt="description"/>

Why do you do this to me???

The Alphas suddenly become "macho idiots", leaving their brains at the door with all the testosterone coursing through their muscles; there's always a corny-ass fight that is whoooolllyyyy unnecessary in my humble opinion the omegas are suddenly damsels in distress who need saving from the big bad wolf, and worst of all, the dialogue sounds like it's from a bad WWF imitation (and that's saying A LOT)

description

That shit went DOWNHILL FAST!!!

description

YES, EXACTLY LIKE THAT ⬆️⬆️⬆️!!!!

And I was sooooo disappointed because I really thought there was hope for me and Ms. Wineheart...
... but alas... it looks like it's not meant to be.

I can't read a book when I can only enjoy, for the most part, 76% of it (with every book in the series), then when we get to the "tying up of it", it reads like someone else wrote it, leaving me cringing and scheming through THE LAST 24%, UGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

It makes me feel like I just wasted my time ➡️ and let's not forget I'm reading a 400 page book, 20% of which is repetition galore!!!!

description

No bueno.

It is for these reasons that we are now down to 3.8 ⭐s with this and calling it quits on me and Ms. Wineheart.

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ღMPREG, taboo, delightful. If you have not discovered the Men of Medowfall, now's the time.

"I said it for book two and I will say it again: Anna Wineheart engages her heros in a relationship that was both taboo and downright yummy. Who doesn't love the forbidden?"

I was so torn between liking this book so much and loving it. Omegaverse is not for everyone, hell, paranormal is not for everyone. This book was just...AHHHH!! I loved the relationship between Raph, an alpha and his stepbrother Wyatt. I liked that this book was so engaging and delightful. There was romance, oh, let me count the ways... There was suspense and drama and even if the words : "Raph was Wyatt's biggest secret-no one was ever supposed to know." did not draw me in, just knowing that I got to spend a few hours in alpha/omega heaven was just as good.

"Our parents married when I was three. He was seven." ~Wyatt

One event marked their downfall. Though separated by an evil grandmother, Raph's and Wyatt's life seemed to fall into place when their exile came to an end. The gelled, flowed and just gave me all the feels. Loving each other was easy, keeping it from their family was the hardest thing ever. And, oh, Miss Hazel. She was one to reckon with. Wyatt's daughter was the result of a bad relationship; one that still haunted him. As an omega, he pushed forward, raising his daughter and establishing a successful business. For Raph, he was caught like the rest of the family in his grandmother's web. On lock, he could not see the end. But being with Wyatt shed a light on how things could have been and Rap found himself going against the grain. These two were always meant to be together, and I was just so happy that they succeeded.

Third in this Men of Meadowfall series, I have to retract and say, this is now my favorite book.

I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.

This was an intense story, full of angst and emotional dread and scorching heat. Wyatt Fleming, an omega, and Raph Fleming, an alpha, are stepbrothers, who grew up together in their rich grandmother's mansion. Even though they grew up close as loving siblings, their omega and alpha natures come to light as they become teenagers, and they develop feelings they shouldn't have for each other. After letting their passion take over, Wyatt is humiliated by their grandmother, and he leaves their home at eighteen, only to fall prey to an abusive alpha, whom he leaves after becoming pregnant. Wyatt suffers through a lot in his life, but is able to make it with the help of his best friend and his sister, and is a successful business owner and loving father to his daughter. Meanwhile, Raph works for their tyrannical grandmother and is weighed down by debt, but is always thinking of his "little brother" who he hasn't talked to in nine years, and only knows little snippets of Wyatt's life through friends and acquaintances. Until one day, they reunite accidentally at their grandmother's home, while Wyatt is in heat, which triggers Raph's alpha rut. This novel had me feeling all kinds of emotions. Wy and Raph's relationship is fraught with obstacles from the very beginning, having to deal with so many emotionally heavy subjects like incest, emotional and physical abuse, rejection, ostracism, single parenthood, homelessness, and even financial anxiety. The characters really came to life for me, I related to both men and their fear for their family and future, and the outcomes of their decisions. Their love was very passionate, and I found myself fanning my face at times, and always rooting for their relationship. I did find that their problems were solved a little too conveniently, and Hazel's reactions to the situation a little too lackadaisical, but I was very satisfied with their happy ending. I really liked the little cameo of Greg and Dale, they were so sweet, and are my favorite couple of the series, and I'm looking forward to the next book.

***I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book***

This is the third book in the series and the series just keeps getting better. Ms. Wineheart creates an interesting world for her vivid, lively, and sometimes snarky individuals. Wyatt and Raph are brothers – stepbrothers that is and they find themselves attracted to each other. While not related by blood most if not all would consider the attraction between the guys as disgusting and taboo. This story is about love, redemption, societal mores, and family as a whole.

Wyatt's life changed for the worse when a kiss between him and Raph is discovered by their grandmother. She throws him out and Wyatt struggles with his feeling of self-worth. His life after that became hard with an abusive alpha, a child from the relationship, and briefly living out on the streets. Since that day Raph has tried to "catch up" with Wyatt to see him and figure out their relationship. Their first meeting in nine years ends in their letting their better judgement take a vacation with disastrous results. Wyatt find himself pregnant again this time by his stepbrother. Raph feels he let down Wyatt all those years ago and he refuses to fail his omega again. Wyatt doesn't believe he is worthy of happiness in his life and he won't ruin his brother or their family do to his weakness and poor decisions.

What kind of pressure are the two going to have face in light of their new situation? What obstacles are they going to have to face down for their relationship? Are there secrets that will come to light because of the relationship? Can each man learn to be strong for the other? Is an HEA possible for Wyatt and Raph?

Wyatt and Raph became stepbrothers when Wyatt was three and Raph was seven. They spent a lot of time together growing up but their feelings towards each other started to change when Wyatt presented as an omega. When their grandma (Raph’s grandma) catches the two necking when Wyatt is eighteen the two lose touch for nine years. It’s at a celebration for their parents that the two reunite and in the passion of the moment agree to just having a moment together and scratching the itch they have for each other. This kick starts a series of events that will either bring them together or tear them apart.

I enjoyed the story but felt there was a lot of back and forth and insecurities between Wyatt and Raph that just lowered the enjoyment I had for the story as a whole. Stepbrother (s) was mentioned quite a few times in the book and while I understand the author wanted to reinstate the idea and the taboo-ness of the situation it was irritating to see the word present so many times and for the characters to use it as a reason they couldn’t be together.

The way grandma Felming and Max were dealt with also felt off to me. I didn’t particularly feel any satisfaction from their demise and I really don’t feel as if they received their just desserts. Wyatt’s need for abuse made me very uncomfortable and a tad sick at the thought that this was okay.

I did enjoyed seeing the character interaction, Wyatt and Raph trying to fight their feelings. Raph stepping up to plate when Wyatt broke the news and Raph for fighting for their relationship.

An ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

Mpreg with added angst.  What I've enjoyed about the Men of Meadowfall series is that the couples are unconventional and not the "usual" alpha/omega dynamic which is refreshing.  The first book featured an older professor omega and his much young student alpha.  (It was nice to see a sneaky appearance of Dale, Greg and baby Phil in this book).  In book 2 the couple are step brothers.   They grew up together as siblings but aren't blood related.  They have been drawn together since they were young.  They finally acted on their feelings only to be shamed and forced apart.
Nine years later they are reunited and can finally embrace the love they have for each other but first they'll have to face numerous obstacles.
There were some really sweet, loving mpreg scenes in this book that made me feel melty and are totally the reason I enjoy this trope. I liked the MCs and there were some great side characters.

I would have liked to have seen the resolution of the evil alpha ex and the evil Grandma developed a bit more.  They felt a little bit too convenient and similar.  The punishment BDSM scene felt a little bit jarring.  I have no problem with BDSM in MMrom but felt it wasn't necessarily needed here.

Overall I enjoyed this book.  I was rooting for Raph, Wy and their little family.  I looked forward to getting back to my kindle every time I had to put the book down.   I will absolute read the next book in the series if there is one. Unfortunately there were just a couple of bits that personally didn't work for me.

Omega’s Stepbrother by Anna Wineheart is the third book in the Men of Meadowfall series. I have read the series in order, but I feel you could read this story without having read the previous in the series, you would understand the story just fine.
Wyatt stepbrother is Ralf. He tries to avoid Ralf. He had a crush on him for the longest time. Their parents married when Wyatt was seven. Even after a decade, he cannot get over his feelings for Ralf so he just avoids him.
Presented an Omega, he was in an abusive relationship. Places a ton of blame on himself cause he tried to seduce Ralf. He has a daughter now and she means the world to him.
He doesn’t think any Alpha would want him. That he is damaged goods.
Ralf has always been looking for a glimpse of Wyatt. He listens to all the news about him. He wants to find a way to get back into his life. Let the other man know he feels the same and he is willing to do what it takes for them to be together.
This story is emotional and full of angst. Has a tinge of darkness to it too. The chemistry kept me turning the pages. I loved both characters they are well written and well-rounded men. I cannot wait for more from this series in the future. This story is intense and one I never wanted to end.

I enjoyed Wyatt and Raph's little love story and it really hit the spot for my mpreg cravings. What I love about Anna Wineheart's mpreg stories is that they are always a little unconventional and the step sibling aspect of this made it really interesting. Like, this is something that's completely plausible what happens in the situation? Anna did well with this. I loved the history and bond that Raph and Wyatt had. It was very clear why they fell in love, I loved the scenes that show us how they bonded over time. I also enjoyed Hazel - she reminded me of my own precocious niece. Can I say I was also really into the idea of this noodle drive in restaurant? That was a cute element. This would have been a slam dunk for me with a bit more editing to tighten things up and get rid of redundancies that slowed the flow of the story down a bit. I just felt like some things got in the way of the momentum. I also think the BDSM element could have been finessed a bit. On the whole a good mpeg read - I rate this a 3.5 and round up to 4. I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

Although this book is set in the same world as the first 2 books, you do not have to read them before reading this book.

I wanted to like this book more than I did. Although the connection between Wyatt and Raph was great (and I absolutely adored Hazel), I did have some issues with this book. The bad guys came across as way too over-the-top.

I also felt like the issues with Wyatt's self-esteem are never actually dealt with, and that really bothered me. Given his reactions at times I would have liked to see Raph at least suggesting a therapist.

This is the third book in The Men of Meadowfall Series. An intriguing book the writing was great. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters interesting. The characters were well developed and thought out. Wyatt is an Omega with a 9-yr. old daughter and Raph is an Alpha and they are the MC’s of this book and bonded mates. There was humor, past abuse, a daughter, a pregnancy, heat, nasty grandma, a stepmother, a returned ex, debt, kidnapping, birth, baby shower and so much more in this book.

Here is a quote from the book, “Come on, cut me some slack. Did you try the noodles at the party?” “I did, actually.” Penny blinked, distracted. “They were good. Mom and Dad liked them, too.” “That’s great! Hazel helped with the recipe, actually.” Hazel dragged a high stool over to the stove, settling on it so she could watch Wyatt cook. “I still think it’ll be better with sweet chili sauce,” she said.”. There is more but you will need to read the book which I can highly recommend. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book and found it to be well-written with interesting characters. The story has several twists and turns that I didn't see coming and I loved that. Wyatt has been able to create a good life for himself and his daughter Hazel and does not rely on his family for anything. He and Raph have stayed away from each other for years because they are stepbrothers and know that a relationship between them would be detrimental to their family. The other main obstacle for Wyatt and Raph's relationship is their grandma, she has a stranglehold on most of the family and uses their debts to control them. Wyatt and Raph have to decide if they want a life together and figure out how to make it happen in spite of all of the issues they are facing. I did not like how the issues with grandma were resolved near the end of the book and felt that Hazel had to witness events that were too much for a nine year old child to deal with and understand. Otherwise I loved this book and I am looking forward to reading more of this series.

Overall I liked this story well enough. Accidental pregnancies are a trope that I love to read and this one delivered. However, I couldn't understand why the idea that 'what they were doing is wrong' was so prolonged. It made it really forced, there had to be some conflict in the book and so they had to think it was wrong for STEPbrothers to get together. This in a universe where true mates exist and you have no choice in the matter. But yeah, gross that they grew up together... Plus, these are two grown men that should have been able to make their own choices.

Otherwise, this book was lovely and while I was less than impressed with Wineheart's other books that I have read, this one got me on board. And really I think the premise just worked in her favor. If you enjoy mpreg and slightly risqué relationships, then this book may be right up your alley.

Final notes:
- told in alternating third person
- mpreg
- taboo- wish relationships
- mentions of domestic abuse/abusive partners

Just doing your best as a parent is never enough.
The parents to Raph and Wyatt most likely thought they did their best, but really they were abusive in the way that they never stood up for their kids and didn't attempt to get away from under the grandmothers thumb.

Pretty sure Wyatt's daughter will end up having extensive therapy to recover from a childhood with a parent that have a mental illness.

Raph needs therapy along with Wyatt and Hazel.

Deciding to ghost the "love of his life" because of debt, believing Wyatt when he says the kid is not his when he knows full well the guy is having a break down because of Raph's actions.

The way a nine year old can just scoff off watching a man get murdered and being part of the death of another.

The amount of times this book specified stepbrothers is countless and so annoying.

I skimmed the last 10ish % of this book because it was just bad. I'd rather see their life together wit the kids than yet another sex scene that does nothing for the story.

Format: Kindle Edition
A well-written 👬romance with likable step MCs who grew up together and reunite for an explosive, semi-taboo pairing. Wyatt, the omega of the pair, has had major challenges making a life since forced from the family home while still a teenager. Their granny is cruel and power hungry, their parents a bit clueless and caught under granny's financial thumb, but they've got a wonderful support in Hazel, Wyatt's adorable and a bit precocious and food-obsessed nine year old, child of a previous abusive relationship. With plenty of steam, oodles of obstacles to overcome and even a high speed chase, the author kept me riveted to the story, rooting for an HEA and comeuppance for the villains. I was not disappointed. Recommended:-)

I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author; this is my voluntary and honest review.

I really liked Stepbrother’s Omega. I always find it interesting how steps are a worrisome to people. I know that it looks weird, but since my mum and dad married with the minister believing they were first cousins (they aren’t related, but their aunt and uncle are married, so I have double cousins) I think relationships can be whatever they are (and my Nana’s grandparents were first cousins). I did like the way judgement of others in the community was used in this story, I wouldn’t have blinked, but can see how some might see it as not appropriate. I loved the relationship between Raph and Wyatt, although I called him Ralph from the blurb right to the last paragraph. I thought they had a very hot, sexy story with a lot of angst. I thought both men’s relationship with Hazel was sweet and I liked how strong Wyatt proved himself to be. I thought this was a great book in the Meadowfall series and would definitely recommend this.

I didn't much like this one

2.5.

This was a non-shifter Alpha and Omega type MM story. Second chances, stepbrothers. Angst. Mental abuse and domestic violence, kidnapping, violence.

I can't grade this well because first and foremost I didn't really connect with the characters. Neither main character was likeable. The only likeable character was the little kid. That's not enough. There was an odd plothole that concerned money that made no sense and as I didn't spot any explanation offered it didn't make sense. As it affected the plot that felt weird. I disliked intensely the abuse scene. Then there were shocking incidents with shocking behaviour near the end and neither fit with how romantic characters behave never mind in front of a child. It was pretty chilling.

The plot and the behaviours didn't feel like making much sense, the characters weren't likeable, the chemistry didn't seem to be there not for real and it simply felt flat.
