Intriguing reads

A short story with two extra books that give you a glimpse into what their about. Enough to make you want to buy them anyways. I enjoyed the book but it ended with so much left untold then it went right into the previews of the other books. I'll be checking out this author to see what books she has written that interest me. I like her style of writhing and all the paranormal characters . the angels and shifters the interesting to me in legends but like I said it ended with too much left untold. I don't like that.

This story chronologically takes place before the chronicles of Koa.
The premise was interesting, but then it turned into very repetitive. For the most part of the book we go through Collin and Rea's love and how she loves him so much and doesn't think she deserves it and how she never loved anyone like this in a long time. It's hinted and spelled out over and over and over in different way and I waited for something to happen.
There was two twists in the story, but not really enough to make it interesting as the interesting part were actually cut off. Like we see Collin go to meet Halston but we don't see what happens there until he explains it in one sentence, at a weird time too. I mean if Halston told Collin about Rae two days ago why is he saying that he only learn that she is an angel "today".
There are a few other gaps in logic that I find a bit bothering.
There seem to be a few pieces missing about Luke as well. On one side we learn that he is a hybrid demon and on the other side when Rae is thinking about him he seems like he was a fallen angel turned into a demon. So there is no way to figure out which and it's a bit confusing.

And of course the book finishes in a damn cliffhanger with introduction of characters we know nothing about instead of the threat that was developing through the whole book. A bit troublesome.

Fans of the author’s Chronicles of Koa will rejoice as they’ll recognize this world of fallen angels, dragon shifters, demons, and vampires. Those who haven’t read that series need not despair as, even though they’ve missed a great series there, this one is totally stand alone and they are in for a major treat.

The leads here, Collin and Raye, are pretty special. They have great chemistry and a strong relationship. Or so it seems, as both are keeping secrets from one another. In the case of Raye, it’s a doozy - she was once a general in the Divine Army, Rae now spends her days masquerading as a human (and, oh yeah, her demon ex-boyfriend Luke is stalking her). Collin’s secret is pretty darn important to the plot as well ... but I’m not going to spoil things by sayin’.

Except for the cliffhanger (which, to be fair, the publisher’s blurb warns about) this is the perfect urban fantasy. Wonderfully complex lead characters with a strong supporting cast, a great (well written) plot with all sorts of neat twists and turns and that well-crafted world mentioned at the start of this review. If you can handle the cliffie then this is a super easy book to highly recommend.

This is the first novella in the Dragon Rising series. Rae had been a general in the Devine Army but follower the angel she loved into the human world and now spends her time working as a psychiatrist and enjoying life with her surgeon boyfriend Collin until her demon ex Luke arrives and she decides to protect her settled life. Collin and his sister left the Netherworld a long time and have been hiding effectively in he human world until he falls for Rae and so he reports to The Directive expecting the worst (deportation) but actually is recruited to work for them which is solidified as a decision when a hybrid dragon shifter attacks Rae.

Great story with lots of drama and intrigue as it set the scene for the next story in the series. Nice read that ends with a bit of a cliffhanger. Well written and a nice mixture of paranormal creatures that promises excitement and drama in subsequent books.

I received an ARC of this novella. I must be a glutton for punishment. I hate cliffhangers, but I keep reading them anyway. K.N. Lee tends to write stories that become available as installments. The Dragon Born trilogy has already had 4 books (and I realize trilogy means a set of 3!). I liked that series a lot, but I would have liked it even more had it been condensed into one book.

The other problem I have with this book, and it seems to be a consistent issue with K.N. Lee, is the lack of proofreading. It's a minor thing that not too many people will even notice, but if you are particularly sensitive to “printed” imperfections, this book might bother you.

However, the plot is a great one and the writing is clear and descriptive. Characters are intriguing and I'd like to read more when it becomes available.

A very interesting sounding series. While not very long (It is a novella), there was just enough character and world building to hook me in. I liked the sound of the world and I liked the writing. I admit I liked the fast pace to the story and the random minor twists too. Before I knew it I was at the ending and NOOOOO. OK I liked the ending too. The love scenes were a bit steamy but not too much. Just a fun story to read. I really enjoyed it and cannot wait for more as it had what I liked - action, mystery alluded to, and paranormal characters.

*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the copy I received from the author*

I'd rate this somewhere between a 3 and 4 stars. I thought the world was seriously cool and the couple made it seem exciting. My only issue was how fast it felt. I know it's a novella but I still look at beginning, middle and ends and while this looks like an awesome start to a fun fantasy series, this particular installment felt just a little rushed.

A great start to an interesting tale. The characters are all well formed. This is quite an intriguing storyline, and it did manage to hold my attention. The cliffhanger was well placed and yes, I would want the continuing story. Being just a novella, there is more to find out about this tale but this book did a great job setting up all the main characters to embark on this journey.

This is a fun and fabulous introduction to a new series. While the storyline is well-written, it is very short (more of an introduction) but it is very good and the series looks promising based on this read. The paranormal characters are great and I hope they will have more backstory in the upcoming books. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

Surprisingly didn't feel short for a novella! I think I got so wrapped up in the plot and what came next that it felt very *full*. Usually novellas leave me irritated by length, but Lee did an amazing job at weaving an interesting tale while making me desperate for the sequel!

Great start to a series, and I can't wait to see where this goes!

My eighth read from author K.N. Lee as good as the first books were, this one is better, leaving you panting for more. A fast-paced short read with well-developed characters in a well-developed setting. Enough said, no spoilers from me, be sure to read the book.

Legend is the first novella in the Dragon Rising series. This is a not a standalone and has a cliffhanger ending for the next book in the series. It is a short quick read. There is some violence and sex.

The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that all of that info here. There are clues in the storyline that keep you guessing what will be revealed next. It definitely kept me reading. Overall it is an interesting storyline and worth taking the time to read. I look forward to reading more in this series.
