"There's a killer on the loose."

"Someone else is next."Told in dual POV, The Elder offers a plot with mystery and intrigue. Everyone is a suspect and no one is exactly who they seem. The relationship between Benton and Arabella begins as a friendship and transforms into something more as the body count continues to rise. The secondary characters offer intrigue and humor as the entire town is thrown into a tailspin. In true Ms. Aaron fashion, the characters are colorful, the dialogue is full of wit, and the love that blooms between Arabella and Benton is heartwarming and full of tender passion.
"I need you to be careful out there, all right?"Overall, The Elder will appeal to contemporary romance fans who enjoy mystery, murder, and intrigue. Benton is quite swoon-worthy and paired with Arabella, I could not wait to see what was going to happen next!

“I don’t need you to save me, Benton. I’m not that kind of woman. Never have been.”
I know that.” I stepped closer to her, forcing her to meet my gaze. “It’s one of the things I like about you. But that doesn’t mean you don’t need me at all.” I’d work as hard as I could just to hear those words from her lips— “I need you.”
A shocking murder.
A suspicious son.
A dedicated detective.
In Azalea, Mississippi, the only thing hotter than the summer days are the men of the King family. When the patriarch Randall King is found dead, Detective Arabella Matthews will race the clock to stop the killer from striking again. Benton, the eldest of the King siblings, has to decide if he wants to cooperate with the feisty detective or conduct his own investigation. The more he finds out about his father—and the closer he gets to Arabella—the more he wants to keep her safe. But the killer has different plans...

Benton King had plenty of layers, and only the very topmost one was well-starched and straight-laced. The rest of him was a mystery.
“You can’t just walk into my life and fit, just like I couldn’t do that to yours. We are pieces to entirely different puzzles.”

“In neat blue cursive, the note said, “You’re next.”
“Why did kindness bring them to the surface faster than anything else, even pain?"
