The series centers on the Duke of Rutland, a widower, and his four strong-willed offspring. The Duke has formidable enemies determined to destroy his family.

The third installment involves the eldest son of the Duke of Rutland, Nicholas. He has an important—if unwanted—destiny: to marry a wealthy, aristocratic woman who will provide him sons and increase the family’s prosperity. But the plan changes unexpectedly when Nicholas wakes up captive aboard a Portuguese slaver.

Lady Alexandra Sutherland’s fortunes have changed, too. She began life as the daughter of a baron, but when Alexandra was three years old, her nanny rescued her from the murderous designs of the baron’s new wife. As a young woman, Alexandra returns to her family’s estate seeking answers—only to be caught and sold to the slavers by her stepmother.

Nicholas and Alexandra become allies aboard the ship, but Nicholas distrusts Alexandra’s wild account of her life. Then, a hurricane strikes. Barely surviving, the pair reaches a deserted island, where Nicholas must face his growing desire for Alexandra—and discover the truth about her past.

A enjoyable and entertaining story. Some of the situations were a bit unbelievable... okay, a lot of the situations were...BUT, if you can push realism to the back of your brain, this book is all kinds of fun!

Fantastic adventure & Romance....

What a read! I loved both characters. I loved how it was divided into two parts. I loved the entire progression of the story, and especially the historical accuracy of it. I read it in one sitting.

This book has pretty much everything but I never felt overwhelmed and all the things I needed to happen, happened. One very broody and stiff Duke, one absolutely lovely and sweet woman. Match made in heaven.

I honestly don’t want to give away too much. Just when you think you know one thing, something happens. The leads are vibrant and I really appreciated how true to the era they felt.

There’s steam, romance, mystery and lots of adventure. This is a very fun historical read! Recommend.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
💋💋
This is the third book in the Duke Of Rutland series , and it’s just as awesome as the first two .
It Features Nicholas and Alexandra .
Both have been kidnapped and imprisoned on a ship heading for Brazil .
During a storm the ship is overpowered by fierce waves and the wreckage deposited on an island in the Caribbean, alongside our couple.

When Elizabeth describes Nicholas waking to see Alexandra walking toward him , his first glimpse of her, I felt my heart jump and my stomach flutter , that doesn’t often happen , this author has a rare talent in her writing.

This is where their adventure begins .
Where all they have to count on is each other .
Where they must fight the elements to live .
Where the only person to help them ,to hold them ,and to love them ,is each other.

Later Elizabeth writes of a chess match , and I caught myself smiling all the way through ,like an idiot .
I love these books and her style in presenting them .
Wether it be dramatic , loving , sadness or happiness she makes you feel the emotions of these characters .
Please , hurry and write the next one !

Good, but....

The story was actually really good and overall I have no issues with it, but there are a ton of grammatical errors, most are quotation marks not where they should be, and then showing up where they shouldnt. It really !was as up the flow of the reading :(

Only You, is the third book in Elizabeth St Michel's Duke of Rutland series. And WOW, what a story this one is!

This compelling storyline takes the main characters Lord Nicholas Rutland, heir to the Duke of Rutland and Lady Alexandra Sutherland on an adventure of their lifetime. Although, the adventure is not something they chose by choice. They both were taken captive and put on a ship that was sailing for Brazil only to be sold into slavery bondage. During the voyage, Alexandra and Nicholas were repeatedly abused and mistreated. Alexandra fed Nicholas and Nicholas saved Alexandra from being raped by the motley crew member, Damiano. A last, a hurricane in sues and they both find themselves on a deserted island. But how, when everyone else on the ship seemed to parish? Or did they?

Nicholas and Alexandra must survive and working together is the only way they will survive. In lies, a wonderfully descriptive storyline of their adventures on the tropical island. How they learn to trust and believe in one another, learn each others secrets and lift each other up; thus building a strong foundation of friendship and love.

While back in England, the Duke of Rutland, never gives up hope of finding his son alive and hires a crew to search for his son. Nicholas and Alexandra hear a cannon shoot off and run to the shore to be discovered. But wait, the story doesn't end there! Once the two are back in England, there are attempts on both their lives. Alexandra is certain who is trying to kill her, but will she be able to prove it? Will Nicholas help her? The mystery of who is trying to wipe out the Rutland family continues with the attempts on Nicholas. Alexandra has a keen sense of intellect and intrigue. Can she convince Nicholas of whom she suspects is trying to eliminate all members of the Rutland clan, before it's to late?

Ms. St Michel's is well known for her descriptive, tantalizing and mysterious storylines. Her plots are written with thought provoking nuances that entice the reader and thus, provide a beautifully narrated tale of love, adventure, and family. I look forward to the fourth novel in this series.

This is solely my review of the novel, as well as, my honest and humble opinion. I highly recommend this book. I was given an advanced reader copy for my review.

This enchanting book has everything in it, that you could wish for! Adventure, betrayal, danger, love, humour, happiness and romance. Handsome, entitled and arrogant heir to the Rutland Dukedom Nicholas, is saved from death by the beautiful, capable and intuitive Alexandra and so this story of passion and love begins. But Nicholas soon discovers that Alexandra has a tragic past and is not who he first thought she was. Alexandra teaches Nicholas how to survive and he soon starts to fall in love with this gorgeous young woman. Elizabeth St. Michel weaves her usual genius around these two characters, it is an extremely descriptive tale, so that this story line is full of emotion, humour and sexual tension. Behind the main story is the back plot that has run through the two previous books and this starts to take a much darker and more evil turn. Then you have the Rutland family, which is full of wonderful characters, especially Aunt Margaret and Samuel. But the story that touched my heart was the small story of Captain John Sharp, which is a wonderfully emotional and poignant love story. I found this extremely touching. Elizabeth spins her magic and takes you on a roller coaster journey that you will never forget. Outstanding!!

This story jumped out in the first chapter – and did a great job holding my attention though out the book. A timeless love story, but there is a lot going on. Suspense on several levels, danger on almost every turn – but there is also love, family and romance. When Nicholas and Alexandra are both captive on a ship that is hurled into a hurricane – they are washed up on a deserted island as the only survivors thanks to the genius of Alexandra. They will need each other to survive…and to fall in love.

I’m not giving anything away, but you have a cruel stepmother, a dashing heir to the Dukedom, and his wonderful family, a deserted island with its own secrets and it reminds me a lot of a mix of Cinderella meets Robinson Crusoe. The only negative to the story is the multiple grammatical errors, but it didn’t detract from the wonderful story. Reviewed by Cyrene

I would like to encourage everyone who loves historical Romance, to read Elizabeth St. Michel's Duke of Rutland series as well as the rest of her books. She has a rare talent of making her characters come alive, as you read, you come to care about them, and what happens with them. Pick a peaceful spot, and a cup of coffee or tea, then settle back and lose yourself in another time.

Only You

I can't wait for the next book. The plotting of this story is filled with intrigue and action. The romance between the two main characters developed in a natural order. I like that they didn't just jump into bed with each other. Love scenes weren't described in excruciating detail, another thing I love about Elizabeth St Michel. Definitely s keeper..

This books was great. There was more than one plot line, then when you thought they were resolved, another situation arose. Action and a full story line right up to the end. Thoroughly enjoyed it and it deserves the 5* I've given it.

It would have been really easy for the author to copy the storyline from the first book so it was nice that this was so refreshingly different. Loved the characters and story! The first is still my favorite but this one was a nice mild story to compliment that one.

Kidnapped, imprisoned on a ship, a hurricane, stranded on an island....you just know this story will be an exciting one and it was! I thoroughly enjoyed Nicholas and Alexandra's story and once I started reading it, I couldn't put the book down.

I adored both characters and the author writes in a way that you can see everything happening in your mind and you can't help but be part of the story. If ever I was stranded on a deserted tropical island, I want it to be with Nicholas and Alexandra! lol In each their own way they were brilliant at learning how to survive until they could get rescued. Watching them fall in love....sigh, pure awesomeness.

"Only You" has found a place in my favourite books to read again and again. I loved it!!

Heroine is a secret lady who has been kidnapped and placed on a ship where she is to be sold. Done by her stepmother.

They become shipwrecked and heroine at first helps hero survive. They become closer during their time together. There is a return to society and storyline that goes through their journey after the island.

*SBTB Quarterly Challenge - July 5. Shark Week: Read a book with a connection to water.*
2.5 stars. I like a good desert island romance, but this was like desert island on easy mode. Oh hey look a fully stocked cabin including a bed! It's a miracle!
Every little issue was quickly overcome in this book. There wasn't any dramatic tension.

I liked the premise and the MCs, but the writing was bizarrely choppy and the dialogue painful at times. Flowery prose that didn’t fit its context. Transitions so abrupt that I would flip back to see if I somehow missed a page of conversation. Not to mention grammatical errors, and a lack of understanding on how to make proper nouns plural. DNF at about 3/4 of the way through.
