Wow! This was a happy and shocking surprise! I did NOT see the surprise twist coming at all. It always shocks me that this author packs so much into a short novel. Her books always feel complete even at their brevity. However, I REALLY wanted an epilogue for this story, and I would've probably rated it higher if I'd been given a glimpse into their HEA.

Things aren't always what they seem...

I thought I was getting a sweet little read and it was in some ways. But, I was surprised at how angsty this got for a bit. I knew there was a twist but I figured it would be worked out in a few pages. Not so much...lies cause problems and hurt. Which, in turn, caused me to dislike a character I previously liked. Just not really what I was expecting.

He couldn’t breathe. His eyes burned with unshed tears. He’d been conned. Brit had stolen his heart with pretty words and lies...

I must admit that I'm in between glad and feeling 'awful' when the author successfully fools me into their 'trap' without even seeing it coming. I thought I KNOW what will happen in this book, but actually I AM NOT!!! Lol.

After I thought - well more likely assume that Tanner or Brit maybe has serious mental or drugs problem, then BHAM! The truth revealed.

Gosh! I can't stop laughing to myself for didn't see it coming!!
The surprise twist at nearly end of the story was really something!

And no, I will NOT give you any spoiler at all! But I can assure you that this book totally worth to try....

Oh, and I'm soooooo GLAD that you didn't change the genre into MF like what those people want when they asked you to change the story into what they want!

This is a very sweet, surprising story that I really enjoyed. It was packed full of more emotions than I expected, even causing me to tear up a time or two. I really felt for Army and would have loved to have been able to give him a hug! Army and Brit definitely pull at your heartstrings and you'll be rooting for their hea.

Good book for a great cause

I would have bought this book just for the backstory. I can't believe a publishing company that wanted a donated story to raise money for cancer would turn down the story (that hadn't sex or even kissing in it at that point) because the characters were gay!!!
I'm so happy that the author didn't change it to a m/f book, refused to contribute to hate and that the story now raises money for the LGBT The Trevor Project instead.

Army and Brits story is now a story about two men who meet and has a lust at first sight experience.
It quickly turns more serious, but everything isn't as it seems and untold secrets may break them apart.
I really loved that despite everything the feelings between them were very real and there were quite a while I just waited for the other shoe to drop. But they get their sexy, happily ever after and get to stick it to those that think that same sex relationships are wrong at the same time.

I just read this at Prolific Works and realized that I have read it before. Did I like it then as much as I did while reading it today? This novella is a superb example of an mm romance writer at the top of their game. I loved all the tropes that are my faves and appreciated the lack of those that ruin a book for me.
Army and Brit are excellent characters, especially Army. Through the dual POV he had depth, as did Brit, but Army had a delicious honest sensuality that made him the best thing about the story. Brit’s honesty about his desire and love for Army was wonderful to read. It’s funny that I used the word ‘honest’ twice here, because honesty is a major plot point, the lack of, along with the element of being ‘conned.’ The writing was wonderful. The twist within the twist shows the author’s care with construction of the story. It all worked to make this such a good read.

Conned is a m/m romance with a plot twist. As with previous books by Ms. Parkerson, Conned's characters are well thought out and readers root for them to succeed, and feel bad for them when they fail.. readers actually get to know these characters. You won't want to put this book down, and at the end, you'll be begging for more. This reader certainly hopes to see more of Army, Brit, Tanner, and even Linda in future reads. This reader received a complimentary copy with no requirement for a review; however, this book was too good not to give it a review and high rating.

Loved the premise of this book. When the reason behind Brit's secrecy is revealed it was a real surprise. These two guys had real chemistry. This is the 1st book I have read by this author and I def will read more. Contemporary m/m romance with a hea ending.

When I first decided to read this I didn't know the story behind it. I just thought it sounded interesting. Hearing how this little story came together just makes it even better. I had this mysterious nagging feeling about Brit throughout the whole thing and when things came to light I was shocked! It wasn't what I was thinking at all. The story flows very well and keeps you interested. You can't help but root for the two of them.
