A riveting book setting forth possible explanations for the fall of man in the Garden of Eden (hint: it's more than just eating fruit!). Using Scripture itself to explain what may have been the true meaning of the serpent, the fruit and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Hard to put down and using good evidence for his suggestions, Gallups really shows how much time he spends reading and studying the Word of God. Food for thought here and well worth a read.

SOME BIBLICAL INTERPRETATIONS BY THE POPULAR AUTHOR/SPEAKER

Author Carl Gallups wrote the Introduction to this 2017 book, “I am often asked, ‘Why does everything seem as though it’s falling apart?’ My answer is that it is not ‘falling apart’; rather, everything is actually COMING TOGETHER---exactly as the Word of God said it would. Of course, some people don’t like that answer. However, as you will soon see, it is the plain biblical truth.” (Pg. 2)

He states, “Yahweh created a court-like assembly of divine beings (elohim) through which He directed the original affairs of His kingdom work. And, according to both the Old and New Testaments, He CONTINUES to administer His kingdom relationships through this divine structure. Various Bible translations render the name of the ‘council of the elohim’ as… ‘the divine council.’… The heavenly council is also rendered in English translations as: ‘His own congregation’… or ‘the company of God.’ Regardless of the particular words and phrases chosen y interpreters, the implication is the same. Elohim surrounds Himself with f court or a council that is made up of the Elohim. They are His created and divine beings---His upper family.” (Pg. 45-46) Later, he adds, “There really is no way around the fact that the ‘lesser elohim’---as opposed to the ultimate Elohim, Yahweh---are also presented in the Scripture as sons of God, angels, heavenly beings, gods, or divine beings. These Elohim make up God’s divine council.” (Pg. 49-50) He continues, “Now that we understand these great truths of God’s divine council, how can we miss, every again, the true splendor of the throne room scene in the book of Revelation 4-5?... From Genesis to Revelation, we see biblical attestation of the divine council: a clear and central truth off God’s Word. Understanding this reality will shed a much brighter light on the entire biblical message.” (Pg. 58)

He asserts, “We are told [in the Bible] that a certain group of horrifically rebellious angels are currently held in ‘prison’ for the Great Day of Judgment at the end of the ages… we are also told that many other rebellious elohim are still very active among our earthly powers and thrones. They are under the leadership of Satan himself.” (Pg. 52) Later, he adds, “Psalm 82:7 clearly records the judgment rendered by Elohim/Yahweh upon the elohim/gods---those who have disobeyed His commands and have misused their authority... The declaration of … ‘you will die LIKE mere mortals’ … is a judgment upon divine beings who otherwise would have been immortal… They will ultimately receive the curse that humanity itself received at the Garden Fall: death, rather than eternal life.” (Pg. 63)

He contends, “we are told… that Satan has an earthly residence and that he has a throne that is situated in a certain geographical location… we can deduce that Satan has set himself up as an elohim prince of that principality, or kingdom. And that is that region? It is modern-day Turkey---the center of what used to be the ancient Islamic caliphate of the brutal and bloody Ottoman Empire.” (Pg. 72-73)

He asks, “is there really solid scriptural backing for the notion that an idol, manufactured by mere humans, could actually be used as the calling card of demons?... The pronouncement is found in Deuteronomy 32… When taken in context with the entirety of God’s Word, it is clear what was actually taking place within the spiritual realm concerning idol worship.” (Pg. 83-84)

He suggests, “Numerous biblical scholars are of the opinion that what Satan/Beelzebub/the prince of the elohim is actually going to pull off is a counterfeit Jesus Christ scenario. The Antichrist could easily be called the ‘Son of Satan,’ a man, but inhabited by the presence of the supreme, fallen elohim… Conversely, the Antichrist could turn out to be elohim/Satan that has taken on the personage of a human being. In either case, the lawless one will be a fake god, one who will present himself as the real Christ… The Antichrist will also perform signs and wonders in order to convince the nations that his power is divine. He will set up a one-world kingdom, but his reign will ultimately turn out to be temporary.” (Pg. 115)

He says, “The Bible appears to make it very clear that people in the days of the Old Testament who saw God in the flesh---the angel of the Lord---really saw the preincarnate Jesus. God occasionally allowed Himself to be viewed by human beings in the form of an ‘angel’ (elohim), but only as much as they could understand within their earthbound ability. The actual, eternally existing, BEING of Yahweh is beyond the realm of our comprehension.” (Pg. 149)

He explains, “the Hebrew word ‘nachash’ … is the word used to describe the serpent who shows up in the Garden to converse with Eve… However, the Hebrew dictionary connects this word with having originated from Strong’s Hebrew #5172… defined as: ‘A primitive root… to prognosticate. One who learns from intense observation---a diviner. This description of Satan’s personality matches the symbolic characterization of Satan found in Genesis and Revelation as a snake or serpent.” (Pg. 169)

He suggests, “Now we have the weighty contextual evidence that the ‘serpent’ was not a talking snake, and the ‘trees’ were probably not literal trees either. So, where does that leave us with ‘eating the fruit’? Believe it or not, the Scripture also connects to gardens, trees, fruit, and eating of the fruit in several symbolic ways.” (Pg. 178)

He continues, “The only place in the Bible that speaks about the beginning of man’s universally corrupt heart is the Garden account in Genesis. And that particular narrative… is filled with nuanced words and images carrying with them the potential of unnatural sensuality… If sexual perversion of some sort truly WAS the sin perpetrated in the Garden, did Satan actually participate in that sexual perversion? Did Satan perhaps include other elohim in the act/acts? Or did Nachash merely instruct in the perversion, and/or instigate it? And, what, precisely could that specific perversion have been? Now, for my extremely deep theological answer to all those questions: I don’t have a clue. The truth is that the Genesis text does not directly address any of those questions. Of all the textual and historical evidence I have provided … there is still no categorical proof that unnatural sexuality was involved in the Garden sin… Accordingly, I am not willing to make an inflexible assertion in the matter. However, the possibility of the sexual perversion explanation has been explored by biblical scholars for thousands of years, and it is one that holds plenty of biblical and scholarly elements of consideration.” (Pg. 192-194)

He states, “the impregnation of Mary was a supernatural occurrence that was initiated from the divine realm---in this case, from the throne of God. Please understand, I am not in any way proposing that an angel, or the Holy Spirit, had intimate physical relations with Mary---and neither does the Bible even come close to suggesting such a thing. However, through the immaculate conception [sic; he should say ‘the virgin birth’] account, we are explicitly introduced … that a human woman can be MADE to conceive a child through a divine function…” (Pg. 205-206)

He wonders, “A good number of biblical experts set forth the very real possibility that fallen elohim alien life forms might soon be making a public appearance, under the guise of being genuine visitors from other planets. Our culture so greatly desires to experience the phenomenon of an alien visitation; it seems Satan would surely grant it, if the ruse would help to pull off his final, grand delusion. Could something like this be a part of the demonic outpouring and delusion of the last days? Could the world be in the throes of a demonic ‘setup’?” (Pg. 231)

He concludes, “This is what we are up against. This earthly life is a battle between GODS AND THRONES---and you, my friend, are an ambassador of the Kingdom of Yahweh---the Elohim of elohim. You are right in the middle of that raging war.” (Pg. 294)

Even some evangelicals may disagree with some of Gallups’ suggestions and speculations; but many others will find the book interesting.

While I am impressed with his writing and passion for the subject, his scholarship is clearly lacking. Several times I would check his scriptural references and find them to be "forced" support for his point; he tends to pull verses out of context. Emphatic statements appeared to be indisputable when in fact they were not. The sources are suspect and current events or quotes are given out of context. There are actually some useful insights and I agree with the basic premise of his book, that we are in a spiritual war. However, it is not a book to be used for academic studies for the stated reasons.

This was an awesome book. I found it insightful with lots of new things to consider and ponder on my own in my bible reading. He was respectful about saying ideas from strong facts of scripture. I highly recommend this book to believers who want to learn more about their bibles.

Absolutely the best book I have read.

Finally a book that backs up what I have been studying with Shepards Chapel for the past 6 years. Thank God for someone to put the truths of the Bible in a easy to read format.

Very good subject matter but not perfect.

This book is a page turner and I finished it in about a week, between traveling extensively for my job and having a life😉 A lot of what it has to say is right on, in fact, I knew a lot of this stuff before I read this book!

My biggest problem with the book was the interpretation of what happened with Adam, Eve, and the Serpent. Personally I thought it was blown out of proportion because a similar and much broader thing happens between the sons of God and the Daughters of men, not even veiled at all!

Also, he spends a lot of time talking about what Eve did, but never talks about Adam, who also partook of the fruit; think of those implications after reading that section of this book. Remember, the. Bible, especially the New Testament, blames Adam, the sin of the fall is repeatedly called Adam’s sin. Jesus is the second Adam, reason being that God spoke directly to Adam about the Tree Of Knowledge Of Good and Evil, but it was Adam who told Eve, there is no other evidence that God ever spoke to her about it. Adam was also just standing there, with Eve and allowed her to be deceived by Satan, Adam bears the greater responsibility! Another good book to read about Genesis’ first three chapters, is French Theologian, Henri Blocher’s “In The Beginning.”

Finally the author makes it seem as though the act that Adam and Eve may have committed had to be so profane that it caused God to put a curse on them, and all of us, couldn’t be the simple eating of a fruit. The problem there is that the act wasn’t the Sin, the thought came before the act, that’s why it tells you how, at least Eve, was thinking. Jesus’ comments about what’s in our heart, in our thoughts, that this is what the commandments of God truly target. For example, if a man look at a woman with lust in his heart, he has committed adultery with her already; he doesn’t have to even have a physical interaction with her! But more than that, Adam and Eve’s Sin was simple disobedience through which their royal birth right was surrendered to Satan. For a Holy God, any act of disobedience is profane enough to bring about a death sentence; even the commandments of God have this curse, cursed is the man that does not do everything written in the Law! That’s the big reason Jesus died, we couldn’t live perfect and holy before God because we were/are law breakers, rebels!

To his credit, the author does admit, after offering his explanation, that it is not the only one, but seems the most plausible.

There are some political undertones in the book, which I personally believe any theological work should steer clear to of, and some over simplification of complex issues. Yet I agreed with his take on the UFO phenomenon, his take on what May precipitate the revealing of the Antichrist, and his brief view the f Prophesy, which I wish he would have spent a bit more time on.

Pastor Carl Gallups zeroes in on the relationship between Elohim, elohim and the human race. Bible references abound but events in the Bible are still open to interpretation. Gallups does a fine job showing the difference between Elohim (meaning God/Yahweh), and the elohim, which are the angels. Also in the title is the Hebrew word Nachash, which refers to Satan, or the serpent in the Garden of Eden.

He dives into biblical events such as the Nephilim, the flood, the 10 commandments, and how angels and demons are involved.

Make no mistake this book should be read while having your bible handy as well, as some interpretations may waver from what you were taught or told.

Could be a good study for church groups.

The book contains a flow of Carl Gallups thoughts with printed Scripture and commentary references. He makes a suggestion that Eve could have sexually received from Satan a fallen DNA change; then with the same act corrupted Adam. He used metaphors in the Bible of eating fruit with sexual sin from Proverbs and sexual marriage from the Songs of Solomon. He also writes of today’s activity, such as chapter 13 “Baal Takes a Victory Tour”. Be careful to keep your thoughts on Jesus during the read.

Enlightening

I like how the author revealed the current plans of people in power who are working to establish the global government for the anti-Christ. Chilling. God have mercy on us. Pray and share the Gospel that more people will be saved through our Lord’s sacrifice and resurrection. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.

Very good

Very well researched and highly readable. A little scary when you find out how bad some things really are now. Fortunately, he reminds us Jesus is sovereign.

Not a favorite

Had some truth and things to consider, but also seemed to be teaching deception and leading people astray. I felt the author thought too highly of himself.
