Hurricane Sarah, the largest in recorded history, is howling in off the Atlantic, straight toward New Orleans - and Lacklan Walker is headed for the eye of the storm.
His father’s dying wish was that he keep Marni safe, but Marni has sworn to bring down Omega, the government-within-the government, and that is anything but safe. Now she has disappeared and Lacklan has reason to think she might be following Hurricane Sarah.
But en route to the Big Easy things get complicated when Lacklan discovers that Bat Hayes, a comrade from the British SAS, has been charged with murder in the small Louisiana town of Burgundy – right in the path of the storm.
Lacklan knows what he has to do, he has to go to his comrade. But when he gets to Burgundy things are not so simple. This is a murder Hayes could not have committed, yet his prints are at the scene and all over the murder weapon, plus Lacklan knows he is keeping a secret, a secret about the victim...about Sarah Carmichael.
As the sky turns black and the storm gathers, it seems Sarah is about to unleash unholy havoc…
USA TODAY and Amazon #1 bestselling author of the OMEGA and DEAD COLD MYSTERY series. Learn more about Blake Banner at his website: www.blakebanner.com
This series is turning out to be fun. Just leave your common sense at the door before you begin because some of the action is quite preposterous. Nothing wrong with that though. Why should a story always be believable to be enjoyable?
Lacklan (even spell check does not like that spelling but that is how it is in the book) is still searching for Marni but once again he is diverted, this time by discovering that a friend has been wrongly accused of murder and needs help. It takes the whole book to clear his name, solve the case, and kill another bucket load of people.
Fast and action packed, Banner writes this stuff really well. Will he find Marni in the next book? I will find out really soon.
I can not be the only reader of Banner's books that noticed the exact same murder plot was used in this an in "Hot Blood" (Cold Dead series) as this one. Things he changed/switched: Gender of murder victim Pig blood for dog blood Accused was a friend not partner
Everything else is the exact same: Real estate is involved The spouse killed was a great person and actually richer than thought Body was moved from actual scene of the crime back to their home and placed the wrong room.
I thought when I started that this was the last book in this series but it's not! I hope he finishes it soon! I've read all 3 stories right after each other, 📕📕 and they were fantastic!!!
This was a great story. I like this character, a resourceful, and crazy violent sleuth. I liked the way the author Incorporated the tropical storm into the story. Added more difficulty to the traps that he often found himself in.
Lacklan Walker still intends to find Marni, his ex-girlfriend who's being pursued by the shadowy Omega group, but he gets sidetracked for a second time in "The Storm," the third novel in the action thriller series by writer Blake Banner. Turns out as Walker's headed to New Orleans tracking Marni, an old buddy needs his assistance. Bat Hayes served with Walker in the SAS, and he's a guy Walker implicitly trusts. But Hayes has been charged in the death of a white woman. Hayes is black. The case is open and shut. Hayes tells Walker he's been set up, and Walker believes him. But getting the system to pursue the case is next to impossible. So Walker goes deep into southern culture to figure out just what happened and why. The story is fascinating and nuanced, and the bad guys don't get fully revealed until the end. It reminds me of a James Lee Burke novel, somewhat. Maybe it's just the location and the character development. Banner does an excellent job of defining what drives his characters, and his story kept me glued until the final page.
While I did enjoy this installment in the Lacklan Walker/OMEGA series, i was a bit disappointed in the direction that the author took the story. This one read very much like a Jack Reacher story, in that our protagonist, Lacklan, finds himself in a detective/investigatory role, attempting to solve a murder case where an old friend of his was being framed for the murder of a young woman. While the story was riveting and at times exciting, the plot was totally unrelated to the wider story of OMEGA that the author has been building towards in previous books. Still going to continue reading the series, with hopes that the next book brings us back to Lacklan‘s roots as an all-around bad ass soldier of fortune.
Lacklan Walker finds out a former sniper that used to be in his command in the SAS. ( English special forces)-is under arrest for the murder of a rich man's wife in a small town near New Orleans. Lacklan knows that Bat Hayes could not have done it, Impossible. But he is being framed and no recall of what occurred . Meanwhile Hurricane Sarah is bearing down straight towards New Orleans. Limited time and resources to solve the crime and find the true killer. Meanwhile, Bat's prints are found at the scene and on the murder weapon. Lacklan knows if Bat wanted to kill someone noone would ever know he was there, so what is going on? So it starts!
I’m torn on how many stars to give it. The author’s stories are fun to read. They’re outrageous, but he wraps them up nicely. He doesn’t know anything about guns, which is really required for a character like this. A Glock 43 is 9mm not 45. It’s striker fired and doesn’t have a hammer to cock. “Colt .45 Desert Eagle “ doesn’t even make sense. These are pretty easy fact to confirm and shouldn’t have made it past an editor. That said, I’ll read more in the series and just grin and bear it when this stuff comes up.
Love, money. When love gets old, money matters more. Wealth, social standing will give you power. Especially, if your able to pay handsomely for your love problem that stand in your way of obtaining more wealth. Problem is , you shouldn't have framed one of Lacklan Walkers old SAS comrades. The price played? You lose, everything. This is a non stop action thriller! Enjoyed immensely!
A BB. Mystery About the Omega Series (3)/New Orleans/Hurricane/Murder
BB. Had penned the third novel in the Omega Series which takes place in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Our Intrepid retired SAS. specialist is called by another SAS. specialist because he has been framed for murder. He arrives and investigated then things start to fall into a deep pit. Total chaos and confusion explode. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
Wow!!! What an exciting thrill ride this has been. A catastrophic storm, angling to further the Omega concept for a New World Order, combined with an innocent man, framed for murder. Enter in none other than, Lacklan Walker, a man on a mission. However, now his mission has been altered, because the man arrested for murder, is a good friend of his. Hang on tight, for one hell of an enjoyable ride.
The plot in this book was the same as the cold case John stone With the murderer moving in the body. I wasn't too happy with the same plot in a different book. I had this book for your doubt from them moment I read about the murder

The Storm may not be as good as I found the first two in the series, but it was still pretty good. Quite different in that it is more of a detective who done it story than the solving of the original plot to uncover the masters of the world trying to manipulate everything.
I love series and am getting addicted to the characters. The authors style is one of my favorites. The twists and turns keep you in your feet. You think OMGosh that’s it and then bam you are wrong. It is great reading Obvious that he loves writing or the series would not keep me entwined and up all night reading. Thank you for the good read!!!
These books have recaptured my childhood love for novels and storytelling. You're gripped from beginning to end and I love the rich character development of Lacklan Walker who is a brilliant strategist and a master assassin. The stories continue to build on each other. Thrilling.
This is an intriguing story. He starts looking for his girl until he finds an old friend who needs his help. The help his friend needs is clearing his name in a murder investigation. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's like most of the books I read, a big mystery. I'm happy to say I had it figured out a LONG time before the story ended! 😁
Evildoers meet their match in this mystery set in Louisiana during a tropical storm. Lachlan stops on his quest to find Marnie. His friend and fellow former SAS buddy is arrested for murder and then it gets real complicated. Don’t miss this.
Lachlan at his best ! Old friend Vs Old friend Bat made the story better and the storm brought a Back memories of the real one that but New Orleans and Mississippi Mr Banner is getting better with each adventure he writes.
Another hard hitting, non stop action book by Blake Banner. The violence in this series is a little extreme at times but I just can’t put them down. I’m onto the next book as soon as I’m done with this review. Thanks, Blake.
I enjoyed it very much. I read it in one day because it was definitely worth it. It reminded me of Perry Mason and Perot and “the Shooter”all in one. I’m looking to more good reads. Dr. C
My new favorite hero. He has obvious Apex skills but is also very human and prone to reacting emotionally like a normal guy. That is what makes me identify with him and interested to cheer him on. Ready to continue the journey with him!
So much action and "who dun it" right to the very end. Book 1 was recomened by Amazon by the genre I liked, and they weren't wrong, so I read book 2 & 3. I wasn't sorry that I bought them. Anxious for the next Omega thriller.
All I can say is Blake Banner knows how to keep you guessing and keep your mind busy trying to sort all the clues. Give it up and sit back and enjoy the suspense !
I really liked this one for sure besides showing a different side to Lacklan this story was definitely like a good old fashioned mystery novel. Nice job Blake it took some thinking for this. Excited to read the next book in this series.
This story is exactly the same as the one from the "Dead Cold" series. I don't write reviews, however I felt that the repetitive nature of the plots and characters deserved mentioning.
This is the storm of the century with a kick of murder and mayhem. We see and feel it as the author has been so nice to keep us captive by his writing process. It's definitely a book not to miss.
I bought this book thinking it was a continuation to find Marni and complete the story. Pissed off when I found it was not. Plot too confusing................
