It's just a rebound... It can't be love. Five years ago, I left the small town where I was nothing but the star quarterback's geeky little brother, and I never looked back. Then I got my heart broken, and suddenly I find myself running back to the last place I’d call home anymore. The only thing that's makes my return bearable is Aiden - my bullying big brother's best friend and teammate, and my first guy-crush from way back when. He's practically family, and definitely straight — so he's strictly off limits... But then there's no denying the heat between us, and I soon discover that while Aiden's not out, he's definitely not as straight as he makes out, and one scorching encounter threatens to change everything. I barely recognize the smoking-hot stranger introduced as my best friend's little brother. He's gone from shy and nerdy to a total catch. Just one look at those sad baby-blues and I'm all too happy to offer him a safe place to land. With my football career as my priority, I'd always kept relationships casual and simple. What kindles between Noah and me is anything but. I’ll have to put everything on the line to get him to trust me, and if he can’t, I stand to lose everything I love. I’ve never fallen so hard before, but could Noah ever feel the same way about me? Rebound is 55k of sweet, steamy insta-lust that turns to more, with a twist of angst and a guaranteed happy-ever-after. It is a stand-alone novel, and the first of a series. No cliffhanger, and that's a promise.

Sweet read. Aiden and Chester are teammates and best friends. Almost brothers.
Chester's parents took Aiden in after losing his parents.
After five years Chester's little brother Noah is coming home with a broken heart.

'Little Brother' right.... turns out to be a beautiful stunning man.
Noah is looking for a place to stay and Aiden offers him a room.
Their attraction is instant and in no time they end up kissing and more...
Withdrawing seems impossible. There are a few tiny problems...

Nobody's knows Aiden is gay and Chester has abandoned his brother since he knew he was gay... that and more was the reason why Noah left home and went to Las Vegas.
Aiden will lose his friendship with Chester and then also his family....

They are hot together and to hide is difficult.... because when they are together there are sparkles all over.

Sweet read, really nice personalities. The family and friends had a good place in this story. Overall an entertaining story. Personally I always gave trouble with instant love but saying that this was well done, not overdone. I would have loved some more hurt before they make up together.

For a first time author this book was written pretty well. It held my attention and I happily finished it. But...I still had a list of issues as to why I'll never read this book again.

Insta-love. Like, "within hours my whole life's been rearranged" Insta-love.

Miscommunication. These two don't know each other which means they don't feel comfortable talking to each other about stuff. Big stuff. Little stuff. Important stuff. Any stuff really.

Drama. Oh, the drama. Layers upon layers of added drama to help move the story.

And then there's the obvious setting up of a myriad of "interesting" secondary characters for future books/series.

If you don't think too hard about it this was a sweet, inoffensive romance. But, for me, it was a bit shallow. I wanted more depth. More buildup. More with the MC's and less worrying about everyone else.

My rating takes into consideration that this book was written by a new author. I can see where she was trying to go with this story and over time I know their will be improvements. The copy I was given was an ARC copy so editing issues where understandable. As for the story itself it was ok.
The story is about Noah and Aiden. Aiden is Noah's older brother's best friend. Noah has been away from his family for five years due to an incident with his older brother Chester (). Chester is the golden boy of the family (he is a successful football player). Chester has given his family everything and never paid much attention to Noah. After the incident Noah stayed away and had no intention of coming back. However, he returns after catching his boyfriend of 3 years cheating on him. Heartbroken and put out, he goes home to try and figure things out. The feeling of being unwelcome by his brother, upon his arrival, doesn't come as surprise to Noah. Chester's reluctant of Noah wanting to stay on the family ranch which causes Aiden to step in and offer Noah a place to stay. From there a relationship blossoms between the two.

Here is where I offer some critique. I think there should of been more of a build up between Aiden and Noah especially before they shared their first kiss. I think the relationship happened way too fast. Yes, I get it's suppose to be Noah's "rebound" but still it all went down in a blink of an eye. Noah wasn't even back a day! Then there was the back and forth they had with pushing the relationship. It was like one minute they're reluctant, the next their in bed together. It didn't work for me. I also wasn't a huge fan on There was just so much packed into the story that it prevented from truly building a solid relationship between the MCs for the readers. I think it needed a solid foundation before I could root for them to succeed together.

M/M This is the author’s first book it seems. I liked the writing style, I wasn’t bothered by the technical stuff. The story was interesting for me.

Aiden is a closeted NFL player who was in love with his best friend Chester. Noah is Chester’s younger bro who moved back home after a bad breakup. Aiden and Noah were instantly attracted to each other but stuff gets in the way coz Chester doesn’t know that Aiden is gay and Chester and Noah don’t have a good relationship. Aiden and Noah try to be just friends but don’t really succeed and they fall into bed. Angst is when Chester admits he’s gay too. Noah thinks Aiden chose Chester. Aiden gets into a car accident that stops his career. Noah and Aiden admit they love each other, Chester is a bit heartbroken (kinda too late for him to kiss Aiden)

I liked the execution and I wanna read the future books.

My biggest gripe is that Noah was on a rebound (hehe hence the title). Ending is ok though, Aiden and Noah get married. Noah’s ex is firmly an ex and Noah makes it clear that he has no feelings for the ex at all when he and Aiden got together

I’m not a fan of love triangles or any shape so I didn’t give this 5 stars.

This was an okayish read.

1. They were not kidding about the instalust.

I don't like instalust generally, but the blurb said it was so I'm not dinging it for that. I did this to myself. However, it's only instalust. Even the instalove that follows still feels like instalust, because there's no real relationship to back it up, it's only sex. They also get engaged after four months. y tho

2. The POVs sound identical.

We have Noah (early 20's(?), artist) and Aidan (34, NFL player) and they both sound the exact same. I had trouble remembering whose POV I was in. There's also one awkward chapter from Chester's POV (no stop bad) that sounds the same as Noah and Aidan.

3. Leans heavily on weak tropes aka miscommunication "it's not what you think!"

The dramatic breakup is because Noah witnesses a thing, and refuses to let Aidan explain, and also Aidan fails at explaining it even when given a chance. It takes a dramatic car accident (srsly stop) to make them stop being morons.

4. This author must be British, because Americans don't use x at the end of their texts.

Overall, simple writing but not terrible, mostly just blah and lacking in depth.

Okay, so I know this was the author's first book and I tried to keep that in mind when I was reading it. But I wasn't impressed with this attempt. The characters were flat and superficial, the plot was weak, and the writing not up to par.

**WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD**

When I saw that the MCs jump each other within the first 10% of the book I thought "I guess this is going to be porn with plot" or just an excuse to write sexy scenes. But that was only partly right.

The characters were flat. I didn't care about either of them at all. There was opportunity for them to be given depth, but they ended up being superficial and one-dimensional. Was Noah artsy, cool tattoo-artist, or a blushing twink? Was Aiden a confident jock or a blushing virgin? They were one of the other, there was an attempt at character nuance that wasn't capitalized on. Noah almost felt like he was written as a woman at parts. They were mostly boring. It didn't help that the chemistry was weak and felt fairly forced and centered on sexual attraction.

The chemistry felt forced because it was given literally no time to develop. My main problem with this book was the problem with pacing. Noah landed and within a few hours Aiden has agreed to let him stay with him and has given Noah a blowjob. The next day - the next fucking day - Aiden declares that Noah makes him happy and he needs to come clean to Chester about his sexuality so they can work out their non-existent, 12 hour old relationship. [Side Note: Come out for you, bro. Not for some guy you've been reacquainted with for less than 48 hours]. Even Noah's friend Jess, who Noah has spoken to about Aiden literally twice and has never met the man before, is pushing Noah to a relationship with Aiden after 2 days. It's less than a week and they're talking about being in love with each other and spending forever together. It's instant love, and I won't stand for it.

These men haven't seen each other in like five years, but for most of Noah's life Aiden was a constant figure. I get that because Noah had a crush on Aiden he avoided him when he was a teen but they are not the strangers they act like. They needed to catch up and re-familiarize themselves, but they should know each other given their history. But no, they are getting together 4 hours after Noah's plane lands. They haven't even had a full conversation. There is no build up.

The plot was equally aggravating. Things were conveniently set up for no other reason than to drive the plot (like the text message Aiden sends after his accident). The tragic car crash that would bring them together was a trope that I could see coming from a mile away in heavy fog, it's a trope that is so overplayed and makes for a weak plot decision here. 90% of the drama comes from miscommunication or a misunderstanding. I get it that Noah is supposed to find it hard to trust but he comes off as being deliberately trying to cause problems by not communicating with Aiden at all, like even in the slightest way. He misunderstands the kiss between Chester and Aiden and instead of talking it out he gives excuses and runs. Don't even get me started on the love-triangle that wasn't. Aiden used to have a crush on Chester, but no it wasn't actually love. And Chester doesn't actually want Aiden, no he totally doesn't.

As far as Chester goes as a side-character, I didn't like him. He acted like a literal child for most of the book. I thought his jealousy over Noah was a decent explanation for his freak out that split them up but I didn't care for the "love triangle" aspect of the plot.

The writing was bad, but not as bad as it could be. There was some expositional dialogue where we were told what a character was feeling and why instead of shown. I had high hopes for this plot, because best friend's little brother is one of my top tropes. But the execution was really bad, even allowing some leeway for it being the author's debut attempt.

This was such an original story from page one. Noah is home after a break-up and a business deal that has gone bad after five years of staying away, and he meets the same hostility from his brother that he received when he went away to college. When Aiden, his brother's best friend, sees how Noah has grown up and feels an attraction to him, he invites Noah to stay with him.

Most romances have some sort of miscommunication and there is a doozy of one a little later in the book, this started with the honest attraction between two men and you watch their feelings for one another grow as they get to know each other. Throw in complications from family and the truth of why Cheser, Noah's brother, treated him with disdain all throughout their lives, you get a complicated love story.

You root for Noah and Aiden from the beginning, and I couldn't put down this book once I started. I loved their story, couldn't get enough of it, and can't wait for the next one by Remi Ryan!

An enjoyable book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters interesting. The characters were developed and thought out. Aiden and Noah are the MC’s of this book. There was humor, friends, artist, football player, a boat, accidents, family, miscommunications, business owner and so much more in this book.

Here is a quote from the book, “I heard his truck hitting the road as I climbed the last of the steps. Noah was standing with his arms folded, waiting for me when I walked in. I could tell from the look on his face that he knew we’d argued. “I saw from the window,” he explained, as if he’d read my mind. “He’ll ignore me for a while and then go back to pretending everything’s fine. Don’t worry,” I said bitterness leeching into my voice.”. There is more but you will need to read the book which I can recommend. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Rebound by Remi Ryan
This is Noah and Aiden's story.

Noah is the younger brother to Aiden's best friend and teammate. Aiden hasn't seen Noah in a long time. The next time their paths cross he is blown away by Noah. Noah has just gone through a bad breakup and Aiden is struggling with living secrets that he has kept from most everyone in his life including his best friend, Noah's brother.

The attraction between Aiden and Noah was pretty instantaneous. I feel this worked with where they were emotional in their lives at the time. Aiden and Noah's story was entertaining and enjoyable with amazing chemistry between them. There are a lot of obstacles that they will need to work through in order to find true love. Will Aiden and Noah take the risk? Looking forward to the next book in this series.

FYI, contains mature content. This is a MM romance. Kindle Unlimited Subscriber

I found Rebound through kindle unlimited and its one of those books I just have to buy so I can reread whenever I feel like cuddling up with Noah and Aiden again ;)

The pace and writing style made the pages flew by, I devoured it in every free minute I got.

The nerdy kid with the impressive vocabulary and the bottle-bottom glasses had grown up and gotten hot. Holy s**t.

"Stay here forever", I murmured once he was sound asleep in my arms.

Rebound is a brother's best friend lovestory about a tattoo artist and a footballer, it's sweet, funny, sexy and with just the right amount of heartbreak - I loooved it <3

I was a little sad that this is the authors only book, I need Chester's story and Justine's and I want more Grams, so I hope there are many more to come!

Delightful!!

This was the first book I've read from this author, it definitely will not be the last. I absolutely loved this book, both of the MCs were likeable and we'll developed characters. I thought it was very clever that Aiden was the less experienced out of the two, he was just so sweet and vulnerable. Noah was the more assertive of the two. They were so different, but they fit and made sense as a couple. I really didn't like Noah's brother Chester, who is Aiden's best friend, but when he confessed he was gay and jealous of Noah...I felt so bad for him. I definitely hope he has a book coming up, hint hint.

Great story!!

I don’t know why but I love a great m/m jock love story and this one did not disappoint! The MC’s were well thought out and relatable. Their connection sizzled from the very beginning and kept scorching the pages till the very last paragraph!! I loved all the characters mixed in especially the chapter where we got a glimpse into Chester’s POV! I’m so glad I gave this book a chance. Once I started it, I couldn’t put it down! Now I’m dying to know Chesters story!! I hope if there isn’t already one, it’s in the making (wink wink)! Very well written and just enough steamy scenes to satisfy me! I can’t recommend this book enough! :)

Love, love, love!

That one was so good, couldn't keep reading until late at night! Fingers crossed for a second book, this time about Chester!

The + :
- Both MCs had distinctive voices and personalities, very sweet and enjoyable.
- The pace was well done. The story wasn't drag for too long, actions were greatly timed.
- The writing style. It is smooth,
- Aiden, what a sweetheart!
- The family dynamic, kept me intrigued until we knew more bit by bit.

The - :
- The opening chapters, it felt as if I skipped a couple of them but no.
- Where is Book 2?!

I'll definitely read another book from Remi Ryan!

I liked it but didn't love it. Nice, sweet love story but a bit far-fetched at times. Story centers around MC1, Noah, who comes back home after a bad breakup with a cheating bfrnd. His brother and BFF (MC2) are football stars and lifelong friends. Noah and his brother, Chester, are estranged and it's thought it's because he is gay. Chester's BFF, Aiden, offers to house Noah and then the relationship starts. The relationship moves to heat very fast. Some of the plot twists are a bit much and it gets a bit cheesy. The writing is good, pace is nice, good amount of heat so overall not a bad read.

Loved it!

Sometimes you get so entrenched in acting a certain way or only seeing what you want see that you miss out on the important things happening right before you eyes. Hidden feelings take a back seat to going through the motions of living the status quo.
All these emotions and more weave through this well written story. Uncertainty, fear, jealousy, hurt, and a light at the end of a tunnel are all represented in this story of love found, cherished and treasured to a very satisfying HEA.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I enjoyed it. Noah and Aiden have great chemistry and are drawn to each other. They make a great couple and are good for each other. However, the fact no one knows Aiden is gay, is just one of a few secrets being kept. Will those secrets derail their relationship before it ever really gets started or will they be able to overcome everything standing in their way? I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

3.5☆ I enjoyed both the characters and the story (tho Chester, the friend/brother, is not redeemed in my eyes), nothing groundbreaking or earth shattering but that's ok. The one downfall for me was "the big miscommunication/misunderstanding", I'm not a fan and didn't really care for that part.

No worries if you aren't a football fan, it's not focused on at all, it just happens to be Aiden's job.

A new to me author & I'd pick them up again.

This is just an over all sweet story. Noah returns home after being gone for five years. His big brother is an ass and when he needs to place to stay his brothers best friend steps up. Aiden plays football and is in the closet. However, the sparks are flying between them. They have a few misguided detours before they get their HEA.
I received a copy for an honest review. I am so looking forward to the next in this series.

A sweet and funny story that I really enjoyed. Noah is coming back home after leaving because of an incident with older brother, Chester, the golden child. Now Noah's back and Aiden, Chester's best friend, offers him a place to stay. The attraction between Noah and Aiden is instant and their chemistry is undeniable. There are family complications and unexpected twists to keep you enthralled.

Too much soap opera dramatics in this one for me to enjoy. Every single reason why it would be a bad idea to date your best friends little brother is in there. Seriously, after the car accident I was thoroughly expecting a case of amnesia. There was a single moment of interest for me about the midpoint of the book when it suddenly became a love triangle. Had that been the main focus of the story and been better developed, the book wouldn't have felt like a failure.

I liked the story, but it was super mega over the top insta-love! I would have liked more of a build up in the relationship between Noah and Aiden.
Also the problems where a little bit rushed in the solving part, and I would have liked a little more sports in the story.
All in all, a good debut. I like the writing style and will definitely read more from this writer!

Light easy read

A relatively short easy read. Aiden and Noah connect. It's a angst free story, the guys have known each other a long time, Noah comes back to town and they hook-up. There's a few predictable twists to the story.

The story would benefit from more detail and depth, it was very surface focused. Good effort from RR.

I read via KU.

A very different sports romance

Not what I was expecting but I really liked it. Yes football was their career but it was so in the background it was more the family relationships that took center stage. Good writing ,great characters, steamy yet sweet love scenes. It was a bit short but well developed. I will definitely be looking for more from this author.

It's a good book for an author's first. Well writen but need better plot. Insta love is very hard to sell with few exceptions and car accidents are a cheap tool for a story. If Aiden and Noah had been some friendship or companionship before would be better, but is made clear that they are not that close so how they fall in love in days!
Ahhh and Chester is an asshole. Zero redemption here

This one was like reading a soap opera.
Seriously. It had it all.
Forbidden love - check.
Crazy ex - check.
Over dramatic friends - check.
MC’s running to conclusions without talking to each other - check.
Homophobic brothers who actually are gay - check.
Car accident - check.

On top of it all the story needed more depth and the book could’ve used one or two more rounds of editing.

I hate the miscommunication trope
this was so insta I didn't understand why? Like why was the falling in love within a few days
not really a roommate romance imo
and just so many drama sequences
and then while still doubting everything getting engaged?
just ultra unbelievable pacing which really wasn't conducive to the enjoyment of the story
