Book 1-Who Murdered Mr. Malone?
Nothing exciting ever happens in the small town of Belhaven. Nothing that is, until a body was found in the woods behind the local elementary school.
With the entire town in an uproar, "Garden Girl" Gloria Rutherford makes it her personal mission to find the killer or killers and solve the mystery with some help from her friends.
With a little amateur detective work, Gloria is able to uncover enough clues that point right to the murderer. She's about to discover, however, things aren't always as clear cut as they would appear.
Book 2-Grandkids Gone Wild
"Garden Girl" Gloria Rutherford, has her hands full. Her mischievous and energetic grandsons are coming for a weekend visit. To top things off, she discovers someone is living in her barn. But who and why?
As this amateur sleuth investigates what's going on in her own backyard, another murder victim turns up in their sleepy little town.
Hot on the trail of a murderer, trying her best to make sure her grandkids don't end up in the ER and facing a budding romance, Gloria and her small town of Belhaven are once again about to be turned upside down.
Book 3-Smoky Mountain Mystery
Life is good for "Garden Girl" Gloria Rutherford. Spring has finally sprung, love is in the air, and no dead bodies have turned up in the small town of Belhaven...lately.
It seems as if it's almost too good to be true. Just as Gloria starts to get settled into her familiar routine, she receives a mysterious message from her older sister, Liz.
Certain that her sister, the drama queen, is once again bent on turning Gloria's life upside down for no good reason, she almost chooses to ignore the dire message that she may be in danger.
When a key to her sister's place shows up in her mailbox after Liz mysteriously vanishes, Gloria jumps in with both feet to track her down.
Crisscrossing the country with one of the other Garden Girls in tow, the two amateur sleuths find themselves on an adventure of a lifetime.
Gloria soon discovers her sister's mysterious disappearance is the least of her worries.
Christian cozies featuring smart senior women a d their friends, male and female with different jobs solving mysteries in their lives. Each book has s few delicious recipes to tempt the reader.
This particular book set aggravated me. The books themselves were fast reads and very cute. However, book 6 of the Cruise Ship Mysteries gives away part of the story line of things that occur in the Garden Girls series AFTER that book 6. I was looking forward to continuing both series until the spoiler but think I'll pass now.
I loved this set which contains the first six books of two of Hope Callaghan's cozy mystery series. The set has interesting varied storylines filled with vivid characters with various settings. I recommend this set for cozy mystery fans.
. These are cozy mysteries that entertain without any real danger.
They mainly focus on the day to day experiences of a small group of elderly women, who have formed a Garden club (in one series) with their friends to help others and a crew upon a Cruise Ship in the other. They get into scrapes and help each other out of them. Some scenes seem unrealistic.
I was startled to discover grammatical errors in this set, not alot, but enough to give me pause.
Each book in the series is able to stand on its own, they are clean, include Christianity based teachings, and conclude with a solution to the conflict/drama that inspired the contents of the book.
Ms. Callaghan writes in an easy-to-read style and usually has great plot twists. I found myself annoyed, however, with her lack of use of the word "of." For instance, she would write .. in a couple days.. with a couple friends .. etc .. Drove me crazy! Also, maybe this was just because I read so many of her books in a row, but everyone in all of her books "wanders." So annoying ! Get a thesaurus!! But I really do enjoy her writing and will read more of her books!
Intriguing, suspenseful, romance, and a sense of humor!
Wonderful box set of books and so very enjoyable. I had a very difficult time putting the book down. Each individual book was so entertaining and full of surprises. Hope Callaghan writes wonderful characters and creates exciting scenes. I am sure that you will enjoy every one of these books. I am looking forward to reading more. Happy reading!
The series is a little redundant but so are most cozy mystery series . The characters are likable. My pet peeve with these books and the author is the use of prepositions at the end of sentences . It makes the characters seem uneducated . Really? Where is it at? If one can write a book, one can pay someone to fix the grammar.
I very much enjoyed these books. It makes a refreshing change to read of nice, decent Christian women especially of a certain age, not only enjoying each other's friendship but solving crimes. Thoroughly recommend.
Light but catchy reading. Personally love sagas and novels so I was surprised with the box set! I couldn’t stop reading!!! Love the cruise ship books, and since I have been on a cruise I can picture every word.. it’s amazing!!!
Very good read. It felt like I was watching a mini-series. Family and cousin are amateur detectives, getting into trouble along the way while trying to solve the mystery.
This box set is wonderful. Do not be surprised if you can’t stop reading until you have read every book, every word and every recipe. Warning! The recipes make you hungry, they sound so good.
I chose these books for some light summer reading. They filled the bill. Characters are interesting. Plots are simple. Actually too simplistic for my taste.
