Josh was the boy next door. Harlow was the love of his life. And for just one night, she was utterly and completely his. But when she rode away on the back of another man's motorcycle, Josh thought he'd lost her forever.
But three years later, fate has brought them back together, and Josh isn't a boy anymore. He's a man living on the outside of the law, looking to join the same MC he lost Harlow to. And he's vowed to never let her go again. To do whatever it takes to make her his, once and for all.
So the day has come, when I'm not howling with laughter or giddy and excited after reading one of Tracey Ward's books. While I think it's to be expected, when one reads more than one book from the same author, I'm still a bit sad about it.
So far I've pretty much loved every other book that I've read from this author, and while tend to appreciate it when people try new things and branch out, Cut just wasn't for me. I'm interested in biker stories, I absolutely love Madeline Sheehan's UnDeniable series and Cat Porter's Lock & Key series and have so far enjoyed Kristen Ashley's biker books immensely as well, I'm the first to admit that I'm very particular in what I look for in biker stories. I love the idea of freedom of the road, the loyalty and brotherhood, and while I'm sure I wouldn't get along with any or most of the characters of the books that I love if I met them in real life, I still love Deuce and Eva, Shy and Tabby, Hop and Laney, Grace and Dig. I can't really say if there's one thing in those books and stories that makes me love them, or if it's just a combination of many. I just know it when I come across it.
In Cut, I didn't find it. I get, that Cut is different, and not every story has to be the same. And by any means, it's not like Tracey Ward can write a bad book. Cut wasn't bad, it just wasn't for me. The writing is on par with the author's earlier books, the premise is interesting but unless Josh and Harlow will be the main thing in the next book as well, I've got too many unanswered questions. What exactly happened to Harlow? What would happen if she actually met with her father again? Who are Josh's parents and what exactly happened to them? What happened to Pops? Or Harrison? What kind of people are the Devil's Due personally? Not just their names but each character just felt a bit too empty. The broad strokes were there, but if they're all going to get their own books, I'm not sure I'm that interested just by reading Cut.
All in all the whole biker aspect of the club felt empty. First, it was always a "gang", not an MC. Second, the short background given on the club didn't make them feel like bikers really. Third, I got the impression that most of guys were young, but that the club had been around for years, and that they had other chapters as well, but none of those were actually mentioned by name(?).
There were multiple occasions where I got confused when the chars said or did something that didn't fit with my earlier knowledge/thoughts of bikers – not that I'm an expert by any means, just curious and intrigued enough to read up on the biker culture. I sort of got the feeling that the author wanted to write about characters that aren't particularly good people in the eyes of the society, but in the end couldn't stomach the idea of really making them bad. They felt more uncaring and even selfish than bad in a way that I've come across in other biker books that I've read.
That's the thing though, I think I got confused with Josh and Harlow and the rest: in many ways they were loyal and nice people, but in other ways they really weren't. I'm not sure what to think about that.
All in all, I'll give Cut 2.5-3 stars. I've read so many biker books that are worse in so many levels, that it's impossible not to like certain aspects of this book. I've also read biker books that have blown me away by all the feelings and messed-upness, and Cut didn't really evoke those kind of feelings in me. So in within the Goodreads rating range Cut falls somewhere in between "okay" and "liked it".
It's been a while for me and a MC book. I found book after book wondering why can't alpha MC's talk in complete sentences. I'd given up hope, but I've liked Tracey's Offensive Line Series, so I said what the heck, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed it and I plan I reading the next book.
I loved this book. Ward's characters are always so well-rounded and alive, Low and Josh were no exception. She has a way of setting up a story that makes you think you know the obvious answer, but what happens is always better than expected. This was the first time I think I've ever rooted for the MC to throw "his life away" and become a part of the outlaws. The Devil's Due M.C. was a fun group of guys to hang around with. The dialogue, the characters, the setting...it all felt real to me and I can't wait to dive into story #2, Raw.
The concept of the book was pretty cool however, it did lack some depth to the story but it was still an enjoyable read. It was refreshing to read a book that was more focused on the outsider ie. Josh, who unintentionally made his way into the world of the MC to then become a prospect , which was a nice change to reading a story that is usually solely focussed on the club itself. The connection between Josh and Harley was pretty hot but then i also felt a little cheated because Devo seemed to be a very dark, brooding , hot guy who i could never imagine being cheated on either. I would love to read more of Devo, theres too much intrigue and darkness about him and i would love to learn more. Overall, the book was good but as i said it lacked some depth and the story ended quite abruptly to, it feels unfinished with so many questions still left unanswered.
This one just dropped off. I was bought in and had high hopes. It seemed like it was going somewhere... But it didn't. I don't consider this a HEA. It could have been so much more.
I have no idea why this book doesn't have more reviews. It's a really great concept. It's sort of a triangle yes but that's not the interesting part. What gets you is: We have a good guy, trying to do the right thing, graduate and take care of his grandfather and the love of his life vs kind of a bad girl. Not usual for a MC romance you know? Usually it's a "bad boy" and a "good girl" so that was fun. Instead of the good boy bringing the girl back into the light like you'd expect she ends up bringing him into her darkness.
I don't read many MC romances but I'm a solid Tracey Ward fan so I didn't even hesitate to read this. The side characters are super interesting and I really hope there's more books to come and this becomes a series.
This is a pretty emotional story and like a few other reviewers have mentioned the best part is the heroine saves the hero just as much as he saves her. This is almost an action/suspense book. Almost. I'd still classify it as contemporary though.
While escaping her physically abusive boyfriend Andi meets Adrian on a train. They hit it off almost instantly and despite Andi being emotionally and physically beaten down by her ex she opens up surprisingly fast to Adrian. In other words this isn't a slow burn lol. Adrian has his own ish going on and is on the run due to a career scandal.
These two just broke my heart, they had so much going on and they managed to just hold on to each other through it all. Le sigh.
1.) Cheating? Yes. The heroine cheats on her boyfriend with the hero. Though to be fair her boyfriend cheats on her like it's his job. Gotta love MC books, right? hahaha 2.) Cliffhanger? No. 3.) HEA (Happily Ever After)? Happy for Now but very close to a HEA. 4.) Violence? Not really anything graphic, you'll be alright. 5.) Writing/Grammar? Tracy's a beautiful writer, I love her work. So well written, always. 6.) Sexual content? Hot tamale! Vanilla yes but still hot. 7.) Would I recommend this book to my friends? Heck yes! 8.) POV? Dual
I thoroughly enjoyed this Story. I am not one to give any spoilers (Sorry). The Main characters, Josh and Harlow are so wonderful. I also enjoyed the bantering among all the characters. Oh there were a few sexy scenes. I have to say that I can not wait to read the next book to see what happens with all these colorful characters.
This is not your typical MC romance. For starters, it's the heroine, Harlow, that is part of the local MC club, the Devil's Due. Her childhood friend, and one-time lover becomes entangled in the club after running into Harlow three years after she left him. Josh and Harlow's relationship has never been easy, and now, despite time passing, they still have a lot of obstacles to overcome. Yet it is their friendship and undeniable chemistry that keeps them fighting for more.
I've read other novels by Tracey Ward and one thing that always jumps out at me is how well she develops her characters and the world they live in. I swear, in Cut I felt like I was there in the moment with these complex and flawed people. I absolutely adored Josh's Pop. He will make you laugh out loud while breaking your heart. And those Devil's Due boys *hot* - an eclectic mix that really add to Josh and Harlow's passionate journey. This story didn't go where I expected it and that's a credit to the author's unique writing. This is the first in a series of standalones so I'm looking forward to Raw's story next!
This is now one of my fave MC romances. Both Harlow and Josh were well built in the story, giving you the sense of knowing them and their pain their whole lives. I loved how the storyline woved to bring them back together in an unlikely second chance way. Josh is legit swoon worthy and I loved his relentless attitude towards life and of course towards Harlow. Their journey had lots of twists and turns that you don't see coming that make the book really difficult to put down.....and we all love a book that does that for us! The passion they have for each other was almost tangible....like you could stroke your kindle and feel it burn you too! I really enjoyed their journey of self discovery and finding their way to each other...it was really beautifully written. I hope Tracey plans on stories for the others....I look forward to some more hard fought HEA!!!! --Kel Kel and Mel Tell Book Blog

really feel like Ward has grown into her NA writing and this is a definite departure from her norm. I Liked the characters, the story, and the writing. World building is great and i can't wait to hear more about the other characters in the series. Add it to your TBR list
This book is really good and I loved it. The characters are great and the banter is brilliant. I loved the main characters but I loved Raw more . I can't wait for the next instalment.
Wow I loved this book!!! Tracey Ward is one of my favorite authors, and this is one of her best. The loyalty and love between these characters is just what I needed after a long day. Another five stars for Tracey Ward!
This was a great start to a new series for me. Strat and Harley are two childhood friends who lose each other through circumstances beyond their control. They have obstacles to get over before they find their HEA.
Tame for novels of this nature, but the plot and love interest is great. Pops i would of loved to heard why he drowned and more about the "bridge".... One woman bottles up her emotions from years of abuse... never letting them slip out till "Pops" dies, and she some how realises what love is...
This story was SO MUCH MORE then I was expecting. There was depth, feelings, emotions, details and well developed characters tgat this story was brought to life. I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely be looking forward to the next book.
