This book was written by a young lady that lives near the town I grew up in and is a friend of my nephew, so I decided to read her story. It was a bit too "Sci-Fi" for my liking and it was very evident that the book was self-published and not professionally edited - I'm very sensitive to grammatical and other errors. She had an interesting idea, but the book kind of jumped all over the place and if one person died, suddenly there were several deaths. Just not really my cup of tea - 3 out of 10.

The book Time is a complicated thing was written by Victoria Jorgensen. It is about the grandfather of Kalie Bell and he pass down Kalie a necklaces that can tell the time of her death, Kalie discovers that she is a timekeeper. A timekeeper is a special power that only a few have, it the ability to see night howlers and a night howler is a creator dedicated to kill timekeepers. Shortly after that her best friend was murdered and could be traced back to timekeeping. Her boyfriend look and her some of her friends share her special ability. She then meats taweel, a night howler that was experimented on by Cerina Black and Merlock White he helps her to know when the night howlers are coming and what Cerina Black and Merlock White are up too by spying. She and her friends where kidnapped Cerina Blackand by Merlock White and say first hand what they do to night howlers. They did experiments on them to know more about timekeepers and how to destroy them. Kalie refused to have a shot they wanted her to have and they shot at her but Luke dove in front of her and sadly died. That is the end of book one.
The characters develop from the theme of defeating evil. Kalie gets stronger mentally and physically from fighting night howlers. She has to face tough situations and learns more about night howlers and evil. This affects Kalies personality. Now she is more closed off and aware. Also the murder of Kalies best friend Oceana triggers the actions that she takes to defeat Cerina Black and Merlock White. For example she learns more about them and night howlers witch makes her stronger then she meets people who can help her defeat Cerina Black and Merlock White.
I would recommend time is a complicated thing. It is a well written book with a lot of twists and turns that surprise readers. It is a simple book to read and not too complicated to understand. My favorite part is when they found Kalie killed her first night howler, it was very exciting. This book reminds me a lot of the series Alice in zombieland because like Kalie Alice has to fight evil but in the form of zombies. I did not like the end of the book because luke died obviously but it was a surprise.
