I love books. Not just a little bit, but a lot. Books were my best friends when I was growing up. Books didn’t care if I was new to a town or to a class. They were always there, my trustiest of companions. Until they turned on me and said I had to write them.
I can tell you that my own personal happily ever after included writing books. I’ve always said that an HEA is a work in progress. It’s true in my marriage, my friendships, and in my career. I am constantly nurturing my muse as we dive into new tales, new tropes, new characters and more.
After seventeen years back in Texas, we relocated to the Pacific Northwest in search of seasons, new experiences, and new geography. I can’t wait to discover what life (and my muse) have in store for me.
Maybe writing was always my destiny and romance my fate. After all, my grandmother wasn’t a fan of picture books and used to read me her Harlequin Romance novels.
Friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, friends to enemies to lovers, you name it, I love them and love to write them. I started with Earth Witches Aren’t Easy, the first in the Chance Monroe trilogy, but my characters and I have traveled a long way since I created that urban fantasy world.
One of the series I hear my readers recommend the most is the Untouchable series followed in quick succession by the Vandals, and that just delights me. No lie, whenever one of my readers brings up my wolves, I do a little a fist pump.
I’m active on social media, and I love hearing from readers. Feel free to tag me with a question about any of my books, or just say hi!
A stand-alone novella from the Brotherhood Protectors world. Contemporary romantic suspense. Fast and easy read with a quick build of action and romance.
3.5
The story starts with a bomb in a wedding store that kills the hero’s sister. It is difficult to build a romance from the starting point of a death, but this author includes several section breaks with “six weeks later” or similar. The introduction pages were incongruent with all the nicknames of the soldiers in quotes in a listing with their full names. It made the text repetitive and sloppy. It was accurate but we didn’t need all their full names and call signs at that point. The nicknames would have been sufficient since we only meet them once or twice. Where there wasn’t a lag, was the relationship. Intense situations breeds familiarity.
This is book two of this series and it did not disappoint. These novellas may be short but they are packed with action from the beginning. It seems in order for these SEALS team members to find love there must be danger. I am enjoying the strength of the male characters in that they are finding much derserved love in the midst of tragedy. Not only are the men fighting to protect the females whoare trying to do the right thing, but they are also fighting against their emotions as they fall in love. I am finding this series to be quick reads that lacks nothing in the stories.

I got a complimentary copy of this book by the author to read and review and this is my honest opinion. This is a short story but lacks nothing. Fast paced with strong emotions running through every page this book is a great addition to the series. Well written characters with humour and the right amount of mystery, action and love . I really can't wait to read more book about more of the guys and the gals.
I really enjoyed this novela. It's fast-paced, character driven, and even though a bunch of people die and bad guys are shooting at Katie and Angel it still manages to have a upbeat feel.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes military/protectors romance.
Chasing Katie by Heather Long was a wonderful short read novella. The previous book Securing Arizona can be read before as it will give you a story to base this book on, both Arizona and Mickey have a part in Chasing Katie.
Liam "Angel" Knight has not only lost his twin sister but he was injured in the blast that killed her. However, Katie Hennessy was saved by Liam from being choked by one of the persons who set off the IED. As soon as Angel recovers enough from his injuries he knows that he needs to find Katie so the the group responsible for killing Moira. Little does he know that the aspiring actress has a bounty on her head.
Katie Hennessy desire to be on Broadway hasn't lead to many starring roles so she works as a waitress to pay the bills while going to auditions. But little does she know that the man she's been seeing for a year has formed a group to let the USA know that terrorists are on our soil. Even though she escapes the man who wanted her dead by running home to Eagle Rock. MT where she grew up. Once Liam convinces her to testify back in New York it will take Hank Patterson's Brotherhood Protectors to make sure she arrives safely.
Will she stay in NY and find her dream of being on Broadway or will she return home to Montana once the terrorists are put in jail? Liam is quite sure he'll be medically discharged from the US Navy SEALs because his hearing was damaged from the bomb blast.
Great book and I look forward to reading the rest of Angel's team mates finding their HEA and I give Katie a 4.6 star rating.
I love this Kindle World and I look forward to the Releases. Much to my delight Heather Long has contributed to this batch.
If you follow my blog you know how much I love Military and former Military Romances and Heather Long writes some of the best.
Now I warn you now, I started this book in tears. Domestic terrorism is something we all fear and this opens with it. Liam's sister dies in the explosion, and it becomes a search for answers.
Katie witnessed the bombing and was attacked right after the explosion. She was fortunately rescued from her attacker, but knows a bit more about that day than she should. Terrified she runs and is hiding at her family's ranch in Montana.
Liam 'Angel' Knight is the one who saves Katie from that attacker and he has a few reasons to find her. He was found holding Katie's purse, his sister died in the bombing and the damage done by the explosion may very well end his military career.
Laughter started once Liam locates Katie and there are many more giggles in this book along with the serious issue of someone else being able to find her.
Fast paced with plenty of action and getting to know you as the story makes it's way to a hell of a climax.
The Brotherhood Protection crew lends a hand as do Mickey and Arizona from Heather's Securing Arizona (in Susan Stoker's Special Forces: Operation Alpha, kindle world).
From heartbreaking tears, to laughter, action, suspense and tears of joy this is a don't miss read.
How do you convince someone who has been terrorized, feels guilty, and like a failure that if they help you, you will keep them safe? Chasing Katie is all about that terror and then her journey out of her own private hell. Liam, or Angel as he is called, thinks Katie can shed some light on what happened to someone very special to him. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but you can actually feel both Liam’s and Katie’s own nightmares that they live each and every day. I loved how they came together, and how their relationship grows, even at the most harrowing of times. It was also fun that I knew some of the “walk-on” characters as I’ve read other books in this world. It’s not necessary to read ‘em but they are just as good as this one is so I recommend them as well. Your heart will break for Jammer, but I won’t tell you who he is or why I say that. I really liked Katie and Liam – they are strong, hurting, and brave. No more details! Read the book, you won’t be sorry.
Chasing Katie is a high energy, heart pounding tale of loss, love and survival. Katie was in the wrong place at the wrong time but she may have the answers to who set the bomb that cost Liam “Angel” Knight his twin sister and probably his Navy career. He is determined to find her and get some answers. Unfortunately the bad guys have the same idea. Now it is up to Angel to keep Katie alive long enough to get some answers. It took me a bit to warm up to Katie but she was real and honest and I had to admire her.
Lots of action and adventure This is a heartfelt story of a woman (Katie) who found out something terrible about her boyfriend. She went to investagate, thinking he had another girl on the side. But what she found was much worse. This is also about Liam “Angel” Knight. A seal who while home on leave, witnesses a devasting event that might also be a career ended for him. On the hunt for a witness, he finds himself looking for a woman named Katie. Action packed throughout the book with a love story mingled in. Well written, self-contained story that’s very entertaining to read.
Contemporary or Paranormal this author can get my attention with her novels thanks to her style of writing. This snared me with the Seal that layed in wait beneath the cover. Liam or better yet Angel encounters drama and tragedy. You have your heart tugged at right away. Then there is the mystery woman whom you find out is Katie. Trying to solve that mystery leads him on a dangerous path with us right behind having to be there right with them both. As things come to light you hold right on to this one savoring it all. You get a good one in this one with it being more than satisfactory.
Wow this was such a moving story, from laughter to close to tears simply touching!

A fast paced, action packed, romantic suspense story that you won't want to miss! The unique story line, complex characters, steamy intimate scenes, heartbreak, intense situations, danger, and intriguing twists will have you turning the pages faster to see what happens next. A fantastic story that I can't wait to see how it will end. I highly recommend this story.
Angel was standing in the square when a bomb went off in the store. It knocked him down and came him to have an issue with his hearing. Then he looked up to see a man choking a woman. He grabbed the man and they fought. Angel killed the man and when he looked for the woman she was gone. A long time later he finally located Katie. Now they are going to try and take down the people who planted the bomb.
I read the first book in this series then read the others out of order. The insta love in this book is a bit harder to believe considering how their paths crossed. I'm not sure I could be so forgiving. You also get to catch up with Arizona and the other guys. Sexy time doesn't come (no pun intended) until the end of the story.
I enjoyed the story, loved Angel, but I had a major problem with Katie. I get that things were confusing, and I get that she was in shock, but after 9.11 no one seeing what she did, and hearing what she did would fail to react unless they were a bit dim, and then to run and hide? Nope I get she was flawed, but her flaws cost lives and I honestly can’t see how Angel can forgive that.
Well written story about home grown terrorists and a naive young lady who innocently was involved with one of them. A seal whose twin was killed in the blast becomes involved in their capture and falls in love with the lady.
How do you recover when you lose the other half of your soul? Navy SEAL Liam Knight loses his twin sister and needs to bring he perpetrators to justice. But how do you come to grips with the loss with no real clues?
Beautifully written. Beautiful and wonderful characters. It's a rather sad story at times but has a HEA. A needless bombing and two hearts are suffering from the loss which ultimately leads to a gain.
Chasing Katie: WOW! Loved it so much! Lots of action and adventure. Lots of emotions throughout the book and hot romance. Heather Long was fantastic at writing this story and telling it. Great Job!
This is another well written quick read by this talented author. I have purchased and read every Kindle World offering she has produced. They all have exceptional characters that you can actually like! The storylines are a perfect fit into each Kindle World!
This fast paced story was such a beautiful, emotional ride. There were spots I cried, times I wanted to hit Katie for being so naive, and that last scene 😳😳😳
I loved this book even though it started out with a tragedy. There are wonderful characters and a great story with lots of excitement. Very entertaining!!!
